Is it ever optimal to push a lane with an destroyed enemy inhibitor?

I played a game as Garen with a Rammus, Karthus, Lucian, and Thresh vs Lissandra, Rengar, Zyra, Morgana, and Draven. I did a mix of splitpushing and grouping until top and mid inhibitors were down. I figured since those lanes push anyway I should group bot instead of splitting. While grouping for bot inhibitor a team fight occurred and they won it and took baron and won the game later. Should I have pushed top to threaten the nexus towers or stayed with my team?

I think in that situation you played it well and pretty much did all you could. Applying that much pressure to the most integral lane (and top, no less) opens your team up to a ton of playmaking potential and it sounds like they didn't capitalize on it much.

If you had Teleport (and had it off cooldown) applying even more pressure to lanes where you've taken an inhibitor will force people to back or you could snag one of/both of the Nexus turrets. If you forced people to back, your team can capitalize and force a fight they're pretty much guaranteed to win.

If the enemy inhib is down, I usually do everything I can to secure the stampeding onslaught of super minions. Because even if you die pushing it in, you have around 4 super minions after each other bashing into the enemy turrets.

This is especially effective when you're outside a teamfight, as then they'd have to postpone the teamfight to kill the super minions and you.

There has been countless games where teamfights happen and they don't see a thing until they hear a turret destroyed.

This could even benefit more if the enemies are clumsy. I.E, trying to stealth recall right outside the teamfight.

its almost always better to push any lane but the one with the destroyed inhibitor.

the lanes with the destroyed inhibs push by themselves due to super minions. this forces the enemy team to split up and defend those two lanes. this means they can only defend the intact lane with 3, maximum 4 people.

the correct play for your team would have been to group bot lane as 5 and siege the third inhib, or push in both super minion waves and take baron at that point, and then destroy all 3 inhibs.

if you have all 3 inhibs down, you get an onslaught of double super minions in every lane. add baron on top of that and the base becomes impossible to defend for the enemy team.

its the safest play you can make to secure the victory. the minions basically win the game for you and you dont have to even risk anything by fighting the enemy team.
