Dear Riot, why do you hate Veigar?

First off, sorry for the length, and yes this is another QQ I miss old Veigar board.

Veigar was never a dominant choice or oppressive champion to lane against. He was always at best a lovable counter pick to AP Assassins. Yes Veigar could 0-100 most champions end game with his full combo, but thats just one champion. Once he blows his cooldowns he was stuck running away and waiting to spam q/hoping to god he didn't get focussed.

So what was Riot's justification for nerfing our favorite evil mastermind? Apparently his combination of AOE stun and power to nuke one champion back to the stone age was too much. I call BS riot. Anyone that was afraid of Veigar only had to build a banshee's, zhonyas, Merctreads, or Qss. The "buffs" that they gave him are pointless. Reducing the mana costs for his late game does nothing when he has no mana problems after building one mana regeneration item. Increasing the Range of his E is pointless when over half of the champions in league have a reliable way to escaped the AOE stun with its .75 delay. This was also an indirect nerf to his w, seeing as it is only a reliable hit after landing a stun.

Rather than pretending there is a viable way to play new Veigar with the cast delay on his e, reduced reliability of q, and the reduced damage from his Ult why not change his E? Veigar should be able to delete an ap assassin. This is the entire point of his Ult. Personally I think the channel time either needs to be reduced or his e needs to be changed to an AOE slow.

iirc he was popular in korea as support. And how he crushed people isn't flashy and entertaining enough. So for the sake of e-sport....

Riot has gone on record saying they want tactical counterplay, not strategic counterplay. They are moving league to something full of flashy reflex based reactions. At least they have been clear with their motives. They have also said they don't want veigar to be a popular pick. So because of this, he has been changed. More or less, if you want strategy, go play Dota. IF, and I mean if, they want veigar to be viable again. He will need some sort of instant hard CC. Whether it be a projectile, skill shot, anything, it needs to be instant and be able to stop someone from diving on him. At the moment, he needs to get close to ult. And with the weaker damage, it wont work until later. So people will jump on you and you cant fight back. He is literally a farming bot now. A few other things. His stun is not getting better with the PBE change. People with dashes still see the .75 second delay. So they will just dash out before the stun activates. It will be better for stopping people from chasing you, as long as they don't have mobility.
