People are annoyed you cant chase a Kalista...

Her sole purpose is to kite. That is what she was designed to be, the insanely kitey adc. Do you chase singed? No. Its just something you dont do. Learn not to try to chase a kalista. Do however rito put a cap on E towards monsters and make the spears change color when they become lethal on a target.

"Of course you should chase Singed" - Singed

SouL1ess8 votes

I don't have to chase Singed, but when Singed is autoattacking me at 550 range, I happen to think that it is a good idea to get rid of that sadistic bunny before my team gets slaughtered.

Rinky Dinky6 votes

The insanely kitey adc who outsmites junglers, and oututilitizes Ashe and Varus, and melts tanks?

LittleBlast3 votes

Note how i did say put a cap on E.

Stephenizgod4 votes

Yea but Singed isnt Ranged and doesnt build crit, Armor pen, and attack speed to instant melt you.

Shadow Gilgamesh3 votes

This is a fair point in general, you shouldn't be CHASING a kalista, but when you gank as udyr and catch her out, she shouldn't be able to get out of a pincer while also autoattacking and be able to not take a single hit from udyr. Especially since the strong slows in the game like Zileans and Nunus that counter every other peel strat don't do shit because her kiting mechanic is unaffected by slows, only hard cc works.

LittleBlast1 votes

Then gank her early when she is weakest and has low attackspeed. Low AS=Not as many jumps.

Shadow Gilgamesh1 votes

It would be nice if that actually required some high amount of attack speed, like finish her Hurricane at the very least, but it seems like she's gone from any movespeed based ganks after just her level 2 boots and a recursive bow. So your options are basically to gank before her first back, or you're totally useless to your bot lane, and since none of the movespeed reliant junglers are on the level 2-3 gank list and probably will back before their first gank, that's a really small window of usefulness.

Tilomentry3 votes

There's a difference between something you shouldn't do and something you can't do. Chasing Singed is a bad idea because it gives him the advantage, but that doesn't mean chasing him will result in his guaranteed win. It just means you have to choose when to chase and when not to depending on the situation.

Kalista you can't chase. It just simply isn't an option. This lack of interaction with her makes her all the less interesting to play with and makes the game that much less fun

And you know what, Kassadin was supposed to be the epitome of mobility. The uncatchable assassin if played right, and look what they have done to him.

People complain, and Riot listens sometimes, and in this case I hope they listen (if only for vengeance for my poor Kassdin)

LittleBlast2 votes

Kassadin has more accessible mobility and does not need to be attacking a target to access his mobility.

Sirsir1 votes

But his mobility is strongly gated by mana. And early cooldowns. And it does have a cooldown in which he can be targeted. Kalista has none of these restrictions.

BastionKross3 votes

Huh. I remember when being the kiting ADC meant that you were Ashe. The mobility creep is real.

LittleBlast2 votes

Can there not be multiple of a role? Ashe is actually better than kalista in some cases, a niche pick adc with not to rare of a niche.

BastionKross1 votes

There can be multiples of a role, it's just not a great idea. Champions should all have their one unique niche they fill.

Unfortunately, I wouldn't consider Ashe much of a kiting champion anymore. League has gotten to the point where her permaslows and stun mean next to nothing against champs that have multiple gapclosers that ignore the slows. It's now to the point where the kiting ADC is the champion with a hop literally every auto attack, a slow, and a (potential) knockup on the ult. All that JUST to kite the other champions. It's insane.

That's all really beside the point anyway. Even in the older seasons you could still catch and punish Ashe with most champions if you outplayed her. Kali is only really vulnerable in the early levels with little attack speed, then by mid game becomes untouchable by half the roster. For example, how is a Garen supposed to catch her? Even if he waits in a bush she facechecks and delivers a silence, she still has her mobility.

I'm all for having champions having their own niche, but right now Kali is too mobile even for the game's kiting champion.

LittleBlast1 votes

Idea! Male kalista not able to hop if silenced.

ADCs are supposed to be kinda squishy targets focused on positioning and peel.

Kalista needs neither of those for the most part.

Ariaflux1 votes

That's the absolutely worst enchant on her. Her jump distance scales with tier, not movespeed. Furor enchant is totally wasted as the 2s movespeed buff is spent jumping instead of moving.

AMYS GRAVE1 votes

The enchantment is like a higher tier of boots, that's why i suggested an enchantment. i guess homeguards or captains would be better....

LittleBlast1 votes

If you build like that you wont deal nearly as much dmg as any other adc.

Ariaflux1 votes

Actually that's pretty close to her optimal build. She's one of the few ADCs who don't follow the Zerk IE PD/SS BT LW formula. Mostly because she builds Runaan first, and further building PD / SS is wasted on her (due to excess attack speed), so without the extra crit chance from PD / SS, IE isn't worth as much. Runaan also spread BorTK on-hit effect, so that's good.

Check out her top win % build.

Sirsir1 votes

doesn't matter if you can't touch her.

BluePolarizer1 votes

her rend basically gives her +36 damage +30% AD on-hit, its essentially 30% crit built in. and no one can touch her anyways.

LittleBlast1 votes

Honestly unless your very fed you cant do shit if your caught by any of the enemy team. She is extremely squishy and has no easy way to disengage without her support. Bring duelists against her and watch her die.

youngjake932 votes

She was actually designed without the passive and then someone else at Riot suggested "I'd like it if your spear throwing champ jumped every time she threw the spear." Regardless, she does ADC level damage and can chase just as well as she can escape. It's not like you can just ignore her.

I've never found her to be even a little OP though. Vayne is arguably just as hard to lock down with her Tumbles(especially invisi ones) and Condemn plus harder to run from with that passive. Meanwhile Vayne also does a lot more damage.

LittleBlast1 votes

She does subpar damage to someone like a jinx or graves and has less overall utility then an ashe/varus.

I'm not sure how she has less utility than Ashe or Varus. She has an engage type ult like both of your examples and trades their (mediocre, AP scaling) damage for better CC (Ashe's stun is single target, Kalista can knockup multiple people and knockups are better than snares). Her ult is also useful as a get out of jail free card for her support. She doesn't have Ashe's permaslow or Varus's ground slow but what she does have is a powerful one-off (AOE with Hurricane) slow and permanent dashes, meaning her kiting/gapclosing is far superior regardless.

She doesn't have the grievous wounds Varus has but instead she gets costless skillshot evasion. She has a vision tool, like Ashe, but hers is infinitely better due to being longlasting. She has %max HP damage like Varus, but hers is stronger, and she has a very very powerful burst attack in Rend to more than make up for her ultimate dealing no damage.

Damage is hard to compare but when it comes to utility Kalista has Ashe and Varus massively outgunned. All she lacks is Varus's grievous wounds but she's more than happy to lose that in exchange for everything else she brings to the team. What makes you think Ashe and Varus have more utility than Kalista, or are you just defending her from all criticism?

LittleBlast1 votes

Im going to use peel as an example here. Varus and Ashe can both Self Peel without needing anybody else. Kalista requires her to have her soul bound with her to peel anyone off, and that can mean sacraficing your support. All around They have much less Situational CC. An ashe ult can be used to pick off someone globally so your team can secure a kill, a varus ult can be used for entire team peel, or Engage. Kalistas is mainly used for Engage/Saving your Soulbound. Also, Ashe's E cant Give the Enemy Gold and is alot larger of a range and area of Vision.

Great. You know what Singed can't do? Auto-attack while he kites. You don't chase him cause you just end up running through his poison. What happens if you don't chase after Kalista? YOU GET FUCKING AUTO-ATTACKED!" Not to mention her escape gains distance for running (25% increase on the dash when she jumps BACKWARDS)

She is absolute cancer. This kind of ridiculous mobility was already crazy on Riven, who is melee and gated by cooldowns. This is a ranged champion with a 0 cd massive jump that is UNAFFECTED BY SLOWS.

Edit: And btw, people aren't annoyed that you can't "chase" her. It's that when you catch her, she gets away anyway while chunking you down.

Cindikle2 votes

Problem with Kalista is that there is no counterplay to her mobility. Even if you have your own mobility, she has it on a passive and will out "mobility" anyone else.

Picking a melee champion that uses movement speed to catch their targets that at one time could still work, are just impossible to use right now vs her. In general, MS buffs should out preform dashes/teleports in the long run. But Kalista does not fill this. If you're looking for distance Ghost will get you further than Flash.

When Kassadin was at a 90% ban rate his existence pushed almost all immobile mages out of the game. Kalistia is doing the same thing. But it's OK because you're not supposed to chase her?

No one should be impossible to catch like that. Even Kassadin had to pay for his mobility. He couldn't do it forever. And he couldn't continue to attack while doing it unless he used it to close a gap. He's melee and his ranged damage is limited by cooldowns.

And how do you figure Kalista is not meant to be chased? ADC's are always a high priority target. Signed is rarely a high priority target.

  • Put a cap on her E on monsters.
  • Remove the bonus range when dashing backwards on her passive
  • Lower the slow on her E.

If too much she can get buffs in other places.

  • Increase range on passive when dashing after using her Q.
  • Champions spotted by her W gain double Rend stacks.
  • After her ally lands R, she gains increased passive range when dashing tward them
  • Gains increased range dashing to linked ally. This could also just replace the increased range when going backwards. Meaning if you linked to a tank you're likely not going to kite as well. But if you're with say a Nami, if they can manage to stay behind you, you can kite better. Although this can make the skill even more technical than it already is and may be too much.
LittleBlast1 votes

Can i Just say I love you? Your not one of the people to scream KALISTA QQ and say remove her passive. You actually put thought into some of these changes. I do agree that the Bonus Range on Backwards should come at a cost, and i feel like 10% Reduced AA Dmg when leaping backwards would be good, but with 10% increased AA dmg when leaping forward. This would give her the choice, Go backwards and stay safe but reduced dmg, or go forward towards the enemy but with increased dmg.

Cindikle1 votes

In a way I do think it should. At least from Kalista.

I find her passive to be better on a melee. It just has so much more counterplay that way. You can simply walk the other way when they dash one way. Creating a gap between the two players. Kalista can stay in a middle ground where you can't reach her, but she stays just far enough that she can AA and chase if you try to move a different direction.

But it's too late for that.

Dont worry guys it will get harder when Riot gets rid of all the point and click spells

Agree with OP. She's pretty easy to catch if you don't blindly chase her like a noob.

Hate her 2k smite though. That needs a cap.

No, just no. The issue isn't "don't chase a kalista" but that you can't do anything when she is chasing you either, as certain champions.

If a singed chases a melee, you either cc and run or turn and fight, if you can beat him.

If a kalista chases a melee.... you either turn and die or run and die

and just fyi if you have strong enough CC and the damage to take him out, you CAN "chase" (he won't get far though if you're doing it right lol) and kill a singed.

LittleBlast1 votes

If your a melee with any gapcloser or strong CC or just raw damage just use your brain, bait her to a brush and kill her. People dont understand playing with vision.

BluePolarizer1 votes

Lol why would a good Kalista follow you into the brush without sentinels?

She'll just take your tower very fast due to her high AD and high AS.

GaleWinUnleashed1 votes

The biggest problem is that the entire playerbase is heavily conditioned to murder the ADC. Not being able to reach them in order to accomplish this is beyond our comprehension.

IcyPepper2 votes

They nuke towers and objectives, not to mention becoming nightmares in late game.

We're conditioned to set them behind as far back as possible to delay the inevitable. Why else do you think the support is sent bot lane early game with them?

Zazusha1 votes

Singed doesn't carry games, or have an infinity stacking Execution that works as a smite vs drag/baron.

Sirsir1 votes

Its not a chase issue its the fact that shes so hip-hoppy you can't hit her with a skillshot, which most skills (including CC) are these days. On top of the fact that she does damage from range. If singed wants to do anything but slow you he has to get in melee range. Kalista full build does almost as much damage as any other full build ADC (a lot) but she can just spam and get out of it. On top of that she builds Runaans and BT so she essentially has 40% lifesteal and she builds Frozen Heart so you can't burst her down.

Singed is and always will be a terrible comparison to Kalista. His entire kit is based around bad stuff happening to those who chase him and he's entirely ignorable if you're not doing that. He's also actually possible to hit with crowd control and pin down.

You cannot ignore Kalista because she is an ADC. You try catching her because an ignored ADC decimates entire teams. You try catching her because the second you turn around to run away she changes her plan and instead of dashing away from you, dashes towards you, slowly stacking Rend on you until she's ready to slow & murder you.

"Don't chase Kalista" will become an acceptable tip when someone presents an actually good way to deal with her that isn't "use targeted CC".
