@Meddler : Dear Meddler , let's talk about Aatrox

Hi there ! I hope you're doing good and everything's fine and dandy ;) and I also hope that you'll read this because there is something ( and not only me ) I would like to talk about . And it's Aatrox .

In this post ( http://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/gameplay-balance/kljB8lNE-meddler-could-wukong-be-a-possible-candidate-for-a-mini-rework?comment=00000004000200030000 ) ZaNJeTsU asked you about possible Aatrox buffs before the divers class update to which you responded : " Maybe. Because a diver update's a way off (end of year at the earliest) we've been looking into possible Aatrox changes to improve him (game health and functionality) in the meantime. We think he's sat untouched with problems for too long (laning pattern problems with the revive passive, really feast or famine stat check stuff with his drain tanking, lack of distinction from other fighters etc). We haven't yet found a set of changes we've been happy with though. Still working on it, and hope we can find something. It's possible we conclude that to do changes at all that we'd be happy with that we'd need to be doing so as part of a larger update however."

What is really bothering me/us is this : "We haven't yet found a set of changes we've been happy with though. Still working on it, and hope we can find something."

I don't want to sound like a d*** , but I just want to be completely honest even if it might offend you , if it does than I'm sorry . Basically , for us Aatrox mains , it means that you (or the person charged of it) don't have any idea about what would you like to do with him and it's kinda sad considering that you're working on some changes on Aatrox since , as far as my knowledge goes , 2015 .

Y'know , whenever I don't know what to do in my life , what decision to make , I always try to get some advice from someone that I trust . And I would like to suggest you to do so . In occurence , you can trust us , the Aatrox mains coming from /r/AatroxMains , which is where I come from .

Look , we understand that you as Lead Champion Designer have a lot of work , and maybe you don't have enough time or the will to do so . But we are not savages , we are normal people passionate about the champion with a lot of ideas that you could make a good use of . Even if I'm nobody , I would like to invite you to our subreddit so we can speak freely about some changes , share some ideas , and maybe help you out a bit .

Let's be dead serious and real for a moment , shall we ? I don't want to discredit the people who are working in the champion design team , I swear i don't , but if you haven't found anything that would make you happy , who else could help ? The community who thinks that Aatrox is a worthless p.o.s ? The people who yell that he's unbuffable without even playing him ? Or the passionates/player base who understands how their champion works and are playing him on a daily basis ?

It's up to you to decide , we're waiting . We will be here . We are patient . You're very welcome to come and speak with us . Have a nice day or evening :)

Now that I've finished speaking , and prepared my popcorn , I'm ready to get downvoted to oblivion and read all comments as usual .

Aatrox is ironically better off than Nidalee

me, you the RekSaimains, the Azir mains

all waiting for our champs to be made viable...

your lucky that Aatrox isn't an issue in pro play.

because riot would rather have RekSai Azir Nidalee be worthless for 98% of the population rather than have the pro players having to deal with having to ban them...

I see a lot of suggestions from players about possible changes for Aatrox, but they all look really bad. Usually it's something like "make the knock-up easier to hit," or "give him back his early game attack speed," which are just blanket buffs that ignore the issues with him.

I agree , but we have a ton of different changes to propose on our subreddit .

I'm looking through it and not seeing any good ones. Just more "remove my weaknesses, make me do more damage."

Alright , so let's talk about " remove my weaknesses " and " make me do more damage " :

" remove my weaknesses " part :

His squishiness (base hp) can be compared to adc's squishiness . I think that you aggree with me that it's kinda unfair to be a toplaner who's as squishy as an adc . For me , there's no more valable reason for him to be as squishy as he is now considering that the amount of burst in the game since his release has increased drastically .

You probably saw the proposed change to make him immune to grievious wounds ONLY during his ult . This in my opinion is not stupid , and not a broken change if you compare it to Rengar's CC immunity for example . If you leave it attatched to his ult , it's fine and imo balanced since everyone can get executioner's calling after their first back , and most of AP champions rush morello's which has the grievious wounds passive attached to it . I'll repeat it again , if you keep it attached to his ult , it won't be broken but it will give him a CONDITIONAL immunity .

The other weakness that we may consider is his Q spell that can be interrupted by a falling leaf , I take Shyvana's R recent change to make it un-interruptable as an example : It's the only gapcloser that she has , so does Aatrox . The difference here is that it's her ultimate and Aatrox's gapcloser is a basic ability . I will agree that if you make it completely un-interruptable , it would be a bit broken , so as a compensation for it we would like to see either a lower health cost , either a lower CD or some kind of active cooldown reduction . Those are the most changes that we speak about .

" make me do more damage " : I really don't know what you're talking about here , we are all pretty much satisfied with the damage he can deal .

You're doing it right now, everything every Aatrox player talks about is "He is weak because of these reasons so buff those things and let him be strong," which is obviously not a good idea. You need to look at WHY Aatrox was nerfed, you need to consider the game from your opponents' perspectives.

I'm not doing it , imo you don't understand what i'm talking about . A conditional immunity doesn't mean that it removes a weakness completely . You think that Olaf's ulti completely removes his weakness for the rest of the game ? Hell no , it's conditional and cooldown restricted . Grievious Wounds immunity attached to his ult , is not removing his major weaknesss completely , but only giving him one strengt and something unique . The Q spell passive cd reduction is not a change that will remove his weakness but it will make him more " lore consistent " and will make the " mobile guy " that he's supposed to be . Which is meant in his lore . And compared to the all the mobility we see in game , this would only make him more " up to date " .

From ennemy perspective , it's more frustrating to be rushed by Olaf who used Ghost+Ult and can't be cc'ed (which may be the only defense that a champion facing him has) than see Aatrox autoing you from a distance that can't be inflicted by grievious wounds but can be cc'ed then bursted down to completely stop him . We can continue to speak about frustrating ults , i think that Tryndamere takes the cake .

Again , what are your other arguments to prove that he'll be only strong af if we implement the proposed changes ?

The only nerfs that Aatrox received were : -40 damage on rank 5 E , and his 50 % AS steroid turned from flat to scaling (30-50%) . Those were only nerfs he received .

The reason for his E nerf : It is the ability that let's him farm safely and poke , and it was (and still is) maxed 1st . I agree that it's a pain in the ass get poked for a good chunk of HP from an ability that scales off AD but deals magic damage . It was just a bit too much of damage for an ability maxed first in almost any situation .

The reason they changed his bonus AS steroid was pretty much simple ... 50% as at lvl1 was just too much . It allowed him to all in way too early , and his jungle clear was fast as hell with it.
