There is hardly any strategy in this game anymore

There is way too much damage. I don't know what this Chinese company that bought Riot is thinking. The game is turning to garbage. What made League fun was the element of extended fights and strategy. That is all gone now. What the are you thinking?!

Mind letting me know which games they have ruined, I am genuinely curious.

I did a quick google search but most of what i found are people from LoL and Path of Exile complaining about them.

ArcheAge, one of the most promised open world MMORPG to be released back then but ofcourse thanks to them, it went to ground quickly and went into path of grinding p2w style.

Stupafly3 votes

With a quick bit of research on it I read that tencent also acquired ArcheAge back in 2011, a couple years before it even came to the west in 2014(or even the east in 2013). Im not saying they didnt drive it to the ground but it would seem they did something right to have it be "one of the most promised open world MMORPG to be released back then".

Edit: i could be wrong with this, like i said it was a quick search

You know that Tencent has been "ruining" Lol since S1 when they adquired 93% of Rito?

But I guess that only counts since S5 when they bought the last 7% for the bullshit narrative of the Trash Boards.

I mean i wasn't playing league back then, but god only know that i had my hell of experience with Tencent since i was playing alot of mmorpg.

There is a large difference in having total control and majority shareholder.

It's not all gone, but it has become more of an action game than a strategy game.

simple reason to this that many casters said at worlds. korea is so strong because they are good at longer games and their lategame strategy is just godlike. china turned this game into a "10min and the winner is decided" game so korea wont win. look who won worlds. it worked.

Aren't 3 out 5 of the champion players Koreans?

yeah but rookie for example went to china, learned chinese and adapted their playstyle.

Last time i used strategy in this game my team inted the entire game. Never used it again.

OneMustFall5 votes

Completely disagree. Strategy is more important in this game than ever due to lack of vision and inability to solo carry. Not saying damage hasn't been a little out of hand but that doesn't mean there isn't strategy.

ZephyrDrake5 votes

yeah there is no strategy... because SoloQ even knows the meaning of that right? please. Stop with this, you wouldn't know strategy even if it slapped you right in the face a million times

Disembark5 votes

So true. People say there is “no strategy” but I legit have no clue what they’re talking about. Turret plating adds strategy if anything.

For majority of the boards bruiser or assassin killing someone is "bad burst braindead meta" but ADC killing someone with 3 aas is "strategic gameplay"

biases are too big here

Stop you right there, the Boards hate adcs more than Hashinshin himself, dont make it sound as if this was a pro adc forums lmao.

Also, take care of the angel that is Ucal on AFS for next season, such a kind and lovely player, I hate that he got out of KT but I wish him the best.

Many do think adcs are bad rn though

nonono, boards are mage mains, but they hate more these pesky assassins and bruisers than ADCs.

They'll take care of him for sure, i wish KT success in the next splits.

I agree, like what do they even mean? You need vision and map awareness more than ever now. Damage can be high and the game can have strategy at the same time, I would argue that you need more strategy this season since you aren't able to make as many mistakes with positioning, build, rotations, etc.

LordGeovanni2 votes

turrent plating doesnt add strategy it takes away from the choice to group to secure an objective which means less strategy as one less option is avaliable and then it goes away later and isnt on any of the other towers when damage is actually happening and would actually be useful. It also funnels gold much faster for more snowballing.

epsıłøn5 votes

I do agree that games are now shorter since the snowball damage is becoming stronger. I dislike it because right now it is mostly 1) you hard win a game or 2) you get crushed. There is no in between where 2 team are equal and need to strategize. What i am saying is that it is harder to stop a snowball than ever.

This has many impacts on the game itself:

  1. Games are shorter in general
  2. Small leads early tends to snowball uncontrolably for the other team
  3. If you are not a tank your game might feel bad since even a tank fed can 1shot you AND 4) IS THE REASON I DISLIKE IT SO MUCH:

PEOPLE TEND TO GIVE UP EARLIER THAN THEY ALREADY DID since they know snowball is harder to stop than before.

People in general tend to give up when they are not in a winning position (wich in the end could happen 50% of the time) So right now it is either you crush them or you get crushed

This also brings an other shovel of negativity in games in general (wich this game had more than enough before)

LordGeovanni1 votes

There is no feeding one shotting tanks in this game. If you are a tank you arent building damage items if you are building damage items you arent a tank anymore you are a juggernaut or a mage as to why you shouldnt die if you build absolutely no defensive items i dont see a reason even if it is a tank.

As much as it pains me to say, we are no longer the target audience. This is what the Chinese market wants...and frankly, there's a lot more money in Chinese gaming than in their western counterparts.

This game will likely never be fixed for us because of that.

DeracadaVenom1 votes

Yea, we just have to deal with it. The game is still fun for me because I do little to know ranked but even I realize its caving in on itself because they're targeting Chinese and Korean players more. Even Neeko's design supports that.

“Hi, I’m cabbysb. I’m an ARAM-main account spouting such non-sense like ‘Zoe needs a rework’ and ‘wow riot u ruined your game’”

I honestly blame the community for a good portion as to League's current state. For many years people like myself has been trying to warn others the path they are taking. That where they are going is a very slippery slope. However the few that was trying to warn them were either shunned or ignored. Riot has been listening alright but they're listening to people who are the loudest rather than the well reasoned. Through every well reasoned post there are 100s of others yelling about some minuscule flavor of the week trend. Its always the short term visions that gets favored and not the long term.

So only now after several years, the general population are now experiencing what I and a few others have warned about. Almost to the T.

  • More and more champs coming out with overloaded kits that are almost impossible to balance without changing how they function
  • Mechanical skill aka muh outplays being favored over decision making and team composition
  • Less item diversity excluding ADCs
  • Balance changes to champs that only revolves around everything but the actual issue (Top lane "tank" Viktor being the most obvious atm but thats another topic)
  • Preferring to "shake up the meta" forcefully rather than naturally through proper balance
  • Streamlined decisions over personal choice ect ect

Im not even trying to toot my own horn because I find no joy in doing this. Everybody got what they wanted in early S8 when they finally nerfed ADCs but via practically deleting them from the game. That was the last straw for me as I no longer hold have any faith in them. From that, more and more people i've been seeing is following suit.

what do you mean the strategy is 1 get as many dark harvest abusers as you can 2 stack dark harvest 3 ?????? 4 bend the enemy team over a barrel and give them a dark harvest enema

Power Cosmic1 votes

It is still there but Riot has steered the newer players into being worse at the game. More randomness means less reward for being good. Because more damage = more randomness. A legit carry in every lane, and often in the jungle too, means the outcome is hardly up to you; i.e. random. Also matchmaking rewards OTP'ing since your output is more defined so they know how to give you your wins and losses. Your 'good' player now is basically defined as someone who winds his/her lane sometimes.

Monstermushmush1 votes

too many posts about the same topic.

haaaaaaalp1 votes

It is because people don’t seem to understand the balance micro and macro skills in a moba. The more emphasis that is put on mechanical play, the less strategy will matter. Riot has been tunnelviaioning hard on mechanical outplay with all of their new champions without realizing they are destroying the balance between mechanical and strategic play that made the game so popular in the first place.

2 keystones of finest gamplay scheme in LOL after 9 years, followin DA SUMMONAS code:

  1. Who´s gonna get the most trolls who int/feed/afk/leave and turn a 5vs5 into 4vs6 or 3vs7

  2. Who will snowball first, startin with 2 kills and become unstoppable

Note: This works for both normals/ranked

There you go, thats "pewpew supa fast dank playz wannabeproscene style" LoL what we have 2day.

Ripper1122331 votes

Riot stopped caring about implementing strategy and careful play into the game, no more 4 trades and going in for a kill when the enemy laner is low. Its all just SUPER ULTRA MEGA FLASHY 1v9 TRIPLE DASH EXPLODE PERMA CC DIE DIE DIE by the time you reach the 6 minute mark. Its now a mobile game in the clothing of a PC game.

PowerSlave9931 votes

Quantity over quality is what China does. So...

Common Satyr1 votes

I disagree. Lots of strategy. Id argue with new preseason macro play/control is more important that it has. Dragon buffs means you need to really play around them. This means taking steps to 2 min ahead of time to set them up. Bounty system changes means you have to think more about which fights you take. You cant just have 8 kills and jump in trading 1-2 anymore. It isnt a good trade anymore. Giving 1k gold for 2 kills worth totaling 400 isnt a good trade. Having a good back is more strategic and important now since you need to protect plate gold.
