@SmashGizmo Please- Ahri, not like this
Dear Riot and live gameplay designer SmashGizmo:
I'm a low Platinum mid/adc, and
is definitely one of my favorite champions in the game. I love trying odd builds and roles when I can and she's really the only reason why I still play League of Legends. She's a go-to pick for me for good reason: Ahri's pretty insane right now. She's pretty strong in talented hands and might I think she's slightly overtuned? I would think so, but please Riot, please do not nerf Ahri like this.
Currently on the PBE Ahri's charm no longer stops dashes, and I really can't begin to imagine how devastating this is to players who can use this so well against numerous champions Ahri struggles against at one point of laning/mid game or another:
. I'm especially thinking about Yasuo and Leblanc. I feel that removing this utility from charm is way out of line from how Ahri should be changed for a few reasons. Already, the ability costs a devastating amount of mana (85) and is on a very moderate cooldown for little base damage, so the utility is the reason Ahri would risk the cost and pressure. With the change, the question of "how can I use my kit against my opponent's to play against their strong power spike?" becomes much less relevant when the opponent has less to worry about. The rewards for landing charm at a crucial moment should feel much more rewarding rather than a moment to delay some inevitable damage, and being hit by charm should feel significantly more punishable if you wasted a cooldown or a gap closer while being cc'ed.
Ahri's laning has always been very safe, which is agreeable, but since patch 5.2 and the following rounds of well-deserved nerfs, it hasn't been "strong." If you want to hit Ahri, I think it would be okay to attack some cooldowns, or maybe the fact that Spirit Rush damage goes off even if Ahri doesn't finish her dash due to knock-up or another form of cc. I cannot tell you how many times I was flayed perfectly by
, kicked away
, or rooted by
mid-dash only to have them or their carry suffer from a fatal projectile of Spirit Rush even though I know it wasn't deserved.
I have probably complained, and admittedly whined, about so many Ahri-related content and changes for one reason or another: initial DFG compensation, the dreaded first new Ahri splash-art, the current Ahri splash art (love to the original- too iconic), 5.3 Ahri nerfs, the Ahri statue, but I am seriously pouring my heart into this change. I don't want to see the biggest part of Ahri's skill-cap, the pressure and cost of charm, be changed. So much power has been stripped from it and dispensed into other parts of her kit already. On-top of the mechanical reasons as to why I feel that the is the wrong kind of nerf for Ahri, charm would lose its signature power.
And if you decide to okay the nerf despite the community's diapproval, please I beg if you haven't already thought of it, do not begin the cc countdown until after the dash finishes. I will be devastated to know that
or
just barely escaped a crucial pick because they negated a third to half of charm's cc because the effect countdown began during their dash, immediately after charm landed.
