Should I play Taliyah support?

I have been playing Taliyah support for a few months now, it's not a regular pick. I'm aware of that, but when I prelock Taliyah people start saying "ugh, not Taliyah support. " "Please not Tali support" Normally I always ask first if I may play it. If they don't reply to me, that's fine, np I'll just play her. There are some people who are alright with me playing Taliyah support. Even in ranked, but the majority of the players tend to lose their cool and demand me to pick a 'normal' support

Am I a good support player? No. if I was I would have been able to climb the ladder more then now.
Am I a good Taliyah player? Probably not, I'm just a bronze 1. I don't really have trouble with landing my combo and stuff like that but I feel like my teamfighting is not as good as it should be.

I'm not really anything special. I'm kinda stuck in bronze 1 cause I probably belong there at the moment. Support is my main role. I used to play normal supports first like Nami, Lulu, Leona.

I play Taliyah support cause I find it the most fun champion to play in my main role. People tell me to pick another champ if I prelock Taliyah and I'm that kind of person who just don't want to make anyone mad so just play Nami or something like that.

( My usual core Taliyah support build ) Taliyah item 2301 item 3009 item 3116 item 3151 + item 3364 If I'm the only ap the next items will be some heavy ap damage. If they have a lot of ad I might add Zhonyas + Dead mans plate. Sometimes I'll add Locket or Redemption It's all situational after that 4 items

Should I listen to what they have to say? It is their ranked game too but I feel like I do alright playing Taliyah support. I also play her cause she's one of the few 'supports' that can actually try to carry the game if other lanes don't do well. Keep in mind that it is Bronze / Silver so I can't really depend on other players to carry me. No offence to all bronze / silver players here. I'm also in this elo for a reason.

Thank you for reading and any sort of advice is welcome Have a great day :)

Plating as a mage support is a good idea in low elo, that works, at least, for me. However I am not convinced about Taliyah. She is a fine midlaner, but I rarely see her being successful on botlane. However if you feel confident on her - go out and play her. I guess she has potential and as long as you have success with her and have fun - do your best. Best of luck!

Well a lot of disruptors are great supports (ie. Morgana, Zyra, Anivia) so Taliyah could be goo at it too.

I mean, phrase it a bit differently: Should you kick sharp rocks really hard without shoes on?
