Are Minions even Alive?

Illaoi can't pull the spirit out of a minion or monster, which could mean minions and monsters are just animated constructs that do not actually live. Or Nagakabouros does not want to bother with testing them.

Minions are magical constructs so no they don't have spirits/souls and aren't REALLY alive

Nunu's yeti loves to eat them. So they may not have a spirit, but they do have crunchy bones :)

Technically Minions are always in motion with the sole drive to to break the nexus this could mean that they inherently always pass the test the moment the tentacles touch them also as thresh has the possibility to pull a soul from any given minion as well as hem being affect by kindreds ult they are indeed alive

At this point riot cant mix Illaoi's Test of Spirit with minions and monsters,because if we are talking about gameplay,this is intended mechanic against Champions. lore wise we don't know and don't expect riot even to answer you
