Soraka Q - No actual mana cost, when will she get one?

Frostmane··4 votes·864 views

Just asking, Karma can't spam her Q without going out of mana at Levels 1-5 but Soraka can and Soraka's Q actually heals her which is the most retarded design on a support I have ever seen. She should not be able to heal herself.

The diffference between the mana costs on Soraka and Karma are tiny.

Karma Q: 50/55/60/65/70 Soraka Q: 40/45/50/55/60

Given Soraka's Q is much more important to her than Karma's (Karma can function in lane without Q spam, Raka lanes can completely fall apart if Q isn't available), it's not surprising that her Q mana cost is lower. The real reason Karma's mana management is so much worse is because her mana regen isn't comparable to that of traditional supports, but that's a problem on Karma's end, not Soraka's.

Can't help but think this entire thread is just "I just lost to Soraka as Karma". Why on Earth should a support not be able to heal themselves? Sona, Nami, Taric and Alistar all can and none of them need to land a skillshot to do it. None of them have health costs on their abilities, either. Soraka having a self-heal is completely fine conceptually and arguably the healthiest support self-heal in the game.

Soraka isn't healthy when she has the ability to spam heals with no actual cost to herself or her kit because she can recover health with her Q. Most people in league agree that Soraka is BADLY designed.

Raka's Q is surely meant to counterbalance her W. When she heals (W) her Allies she loses a proportion of max health. Without the healing effects of her Q, laning would be nearly impossible early game. Hypothetically you could just build health regen, but without building AP her heals don't do anything significant. She's pretty fairly balanced.

Every health cost champion in the game has the ability to spam X with less cost than stated to themselves because their kit can recover health. That's how health cost champions work in this game. If Soraka didn't heal herself with Q then she wouldn't be paying health to use W either.

Maybe the mana cost on her Q is a tad low but it's low to encourage her to have an active lane phase. Make the mana cost high enough and she goes back to buying Ancient Coin, maxing W and healing herself by sitting back and watching minions die.

It's your fault if you can't dodge her Q and interact with her meaningfully in the cooldown because if you manage to do that then you win. Karma of all champions is very good at punishing Soraka if she walks up to Q and you manage to dodge it. If Soraka lands tons of Qs then yes she will win the lane but Soraka's Q is one of the more difficult poke spells in bot lane to hit versus Karma's Q being one of the easier ones if you can get around minions.

You're just complaining that Soraka has the ability to win, basically. She hit her skillshots and managed her health/mana well, you failed to dodge enough skillshots and foolishly tried to poke through her sustain despite that. That's on you. If you're not dodging Starcall then it's obvious you should be focusing on shielding your ADC and trying to get catches with snares rather than wasting all your mana on Q.

I mean, also... there's a giant red circle that shows you the incoming Q shot.. which should make it fairly easy to dodge. After playing a lot of Raka (Mastery 6 now :D), I've learned to watch the movement patterns of enemy champs while laning so that I can anticipate where to place my Q.. normally toward the direction I'm guessing you'll move to next. Even so, the Q range isn't that huge. Just stay alert for the big red skill shot indicator, dodge it, and try to poke her back.

Problem is soraka heals herself whilst DEALING A DECENT Damage with a built in SLOW for a low mana cost

DEALING A DECENT Damage

Lolno.

karmas q actually does damage while rakas is just a healing utility neccesary to make her w worth anything. she sacrifices her own health to heal alllies so a self heal isn't bad.

Frostmane1 votes

Karma's Q may do damage but its fucking pointless is Soraka can heal herself with hers.

Beldair1 votes

And Karma can heal herself with her tether.

So she can root an enemy and heal herself...

Soraka gives up health to heal allies, so Riot gave her a way to keep her health stable so she can keep her ally alive.

Without the heal on her Q, she'd be useless and no one would pick her.

Hi I am a Ward 3 votes

If you think soraka s q deals no damage it's because you max first w which is a noobie mistake. New soraka maxes q first

Friendly Ram1 votes

nah it still does diddily even if you max it first.

Hi I am a Ward 1 votes

You really don't get it do you?

Noticeable damage + heal + slow at low mana cost....just so the math dude

Noticeable damage

On a Soraka? The Healbot Goat? Really?

Hi I am a Ward 1 votes

For laning phase yes. Why do you think she is so banned? Because she is a pain on laning phase.

q3fogWe6LF1 votes

ehh, I've gotten a few kills by building Q and then high AP. But of course item 3069 and 45% CDR is mandatory, since I'm so squishy.
