There is 0 Point playing Ranked at the moment...
Since effectively, I am nerfing myself by not having anybody to group with as a super awesome premade 5 man. I might as well not bother, its not a true indication of individual progress and skill.

The bigger problem is that even if you could climb equally well solo, your skill won't be any more recognized since the ranking doesn't differentiate for queue configurations. A guy getting boosted every game in a 4-man and a solo player can both have the same ranking despite how different the experiences/skills may be. Any ladder where you can't directly compare players is broken.

First off if there is one person getting boosted by a 5 man you will never see that premade so it doesn't affect you at all tbh, there is also a limit as to how high a person can even be boosted in a 5 man queue, 5 mans are always matched against other 5 mans and if it's a 4v5 pretty much the queue who is not carrying dead weight will always win, dynamo queue has actually proven to be harder for me to rank up in, playing with my friends all around plat 5 I couldn't get out of plat 4 we would just win lose win lose, went solo for 3 days and am now plat 1 lol.

That limit is pretty much Masters. There was some Reddit poster who was Silver or something for many seasons and got Diamond off supporting Alistar on a 5 man. Like I said though, the problem isn't just solo vs premade, it's that the ranking aggregates all queue configurations. It makes it ambiguous and meaningless.
Hard to argue with that if your sole goal is the prestige that comes with rank, however the exact same result could be achieve through boosting which is also a thing, but no one really complains about that too much. Point is I believe we play ranked to improve ourselves, and enjoy the competitive element 5 man boosting has no real point tbh, that silver support is also limited to only playing with a 5 man, because he is not good enough to play at his own rank.

It's not even external prestige; it's being able to trust the rankings.
You know, ranked doesn't really have a point to begin with. It's more effort for nothing.
It doesn't win you friends. It doesn't win you happiness in the long run. It doesn't make you profit. It doesn't benefit your well-being. It doesn't get you anything besides a free skin, and only until Gold. It doesn't automatically make your words more credible. It doesn't make you smarter.
This is why ranked was always a "meh" thing for me. I know many of you may disagree, but this is just my view on it. That ranked is just a waste of time to begin with.

To address your points
I'm going to be perfectly honest here...
So you don't enjoy the game. That much is obvious, and that's okay.
But there are people that do it enjoy, and might not appreciate you pissing in their cornflakes. While all you've said is a cold truth, let people have fun where they wanna have fun. [slayer-jinx-catface]

I obviously mean in the context of accurately demonstrating mastery at the game over a large sample size.
It's not just ranked. I can't even play normals now without tryhard premades picking whatever is broken and 3 or 4 man ganking lanes every few minutes.
Like what even is the counterplay to this? As a solo player I have no control over the premade on my team so when the enemy team look us up on op.gg and see that I'm not part of the premade I am usually singled out and mercilessly 3 or 4 man ganked none stop til I can't even get back into my own lane. Best part is my premade won't do anything about this and I'll be blamed for the loss despite being focused.
Even in games where I don't usually get focused early as soon as I start doing well vs my lane opponent or the enemy jungler I'll get their entire team either ganking my lane none stop or my whole jungle warded and cleared without my team doing so much as pinging me that the enemy is missing.
This game is borderline unplayable at the moment for solo players, imagine the poor fucks who are just starting this game unaware of what waits for them once they queue up solo.
Counterplay to 4 man ganks is wards far enough back that you can see them coming from a mile away and determine if your team is going to help or you just need to bail.
doesn't help if your team is useless.
How does that help though? like what will you do once you see them? stay under your turret? get dived. try and back? there goes your turret and you're put behind so their premade gets an advantage over you.
Like you can't even play well because as soon as you do and draw attention to yourself you've pretty much fucked yourself over.
You've not fucked yourself. You leave, that seems kind of obvious. How does playing crappie help either?
So what? give up a free turret? what if they gank again in a 4 man? that's another turret gone. So if you play in a premade you're entitled to winning a free lane? is that it? no counterplay to it beside losing lane?
Wouldn't the true indication of individual skill be beating 5 man premades by yourself?
Do you know the quote "All the heroes I know are dead"?
We are not heroes(sorry
), we just want fair games...if you want to be a hero go play solo in DQ

I do that quite often, I rarely go into a premade and I'm slowly climbing.
The fact that you do so, doesn't mean that we all should. Riot should thrive for games that are even when the game starts, right now that's not the case. So i just play other stuff
If you as a solo player are regularly beating 5 man premades by yourself that says to me:
Your MMR is far too low for some reason and you are being matched against players much worse than you
Dynamic Queue is incapable of making proper matches due to terrible players grouping with good players and making the matches pointless
Once you climb to where you belong and face 5 man premades where the whole enemy team is actually as skilled as you they'll likely have you pulling your hair out in frustration (even the highest tier players hate this, like Diamond 1 and 2 players being matched against a team with 3 Challenger players). Actually, matchmaking is far worse the higher you climb right now due to lack of players so you might have more fun if you didn't climb...
If thats the case: Bronze = Silver Silver = Gold Gold = Plat Plat = Diamond etc.
Because you are facing a harder challenge than your tier requires.
The only change I want is the ability to see which players are pre-made.
All we need is a Solo MMR for when you queue alone..keep the stupid system but give us a rank for our troubles.
The only change I want is the ability to see which players are pre-made.
- If I invade the enemy jungler, I want to know how quickly they will react.
- If I'm laning, I want to know who is premade with my enemy laner so I can predict how often I will be ganked.
Tags are usually a good indicator of this...but I also have a seperate team tag to try and throw people off and make them think I am solo.
Tags help, but they can be hidden quite easily.
Mine is hidden because I dislike having my name off-center when displayed.
How to play ranked in season 6:
1.) Get to gold 5 if you can for you free skin.
1.5) If you can't get a few diamond friends to boost play with you and get your free skin.
2.) Quit ranked as it's a fucking joke.
Because getting gangbanged by someone who obviously has coordination (especially if you are an early jungler) while you can't do shit with your ragtag group of solos/duos is so fun and a representative of your skill in ranked.
I used to be serious about climbing to diamond but now I don't even care anymore.
Ranked was broken because of Riot's system before DQ and now its only worse
i played no ranked games this season, not even my placements because of dyna q, i got no friends to get elo boosted and i also dont like playing against premades
Well there's a point to playing ranked, it's the border/rewards for gold+. It just doesn't have the same feel and purpose as last season. Before it showed individual skill (for the most part) not it moreso shows the skill of being able to find and put together a good group.
I can definitely say I have no real reason to play ranked. It does not effectively measure skill, and your general deftness at mechanics. It just measures if you got carried or you had 4 trolls in a row who either afk'd, stole all the farm, or just generally fed.
sad but true, dynamic has completely alienated those who queue alone, even the people who duo'd in challenger don't like it, there is no level of playerbase that definitively likes this change, AND IT'S OUR FUCKING GAME, we are the players, who the hell else is influencing these decisions if not us? if we leave this game shuts down overnight, they really don't seem to get that. Jaggex #2 incoming.
most of peoples don't even understand that which what kind of queue configuration you climbed matter. if you climbed with 3 other friends all season long (lets say theses guys had a 58% win rate or even more if you want) then put this same guy who climbed with 3 of his friends, put him alone now and lets see what kind of % of win rate he will get.
Riot does not speaks about theses numbers because they don't even compilates them. so yeah rank mean absolutely nothing since there is no comparative levels.
There is technically zero point in playing, period.
Well, it makes you happier. You're playing the game because it makes you happy and you value your emotional state.
If there was no gain from playing the game, you wouldn't be doing it.
As a PvP game, it has a certain level of stress to it.
The fun involved should balance that out.
Now, playing a game you are either relieving boredom stress or frustration stress.
I'm from the boredom ship. The goal is relief through replacement with the fun, with a byproduct of some frustration seeping in.
If the boredom is replaced with 8-2 Fun/Frustration, that is fine. But is currently at around 4-6, which is why I haven't even logged in today.
Now, I can identify that and break it off, but like drugs and abusive relationships, many will play even they get no net gain from it.
So, not counting me.
If there was no gain from playing the game, you wouldn't be doing it.
Is not a true statement.
Wait playing League can increase happiness?!?!
Just kidding. But in all seriousness about 60% to 70% of matches are more likely to make you upset than happy.
(Based on my own experience of course,)
Has there ever been a point beyond bragging rights? XD
Make some friends.
I agree, at the start of the season, when not too many people were actually getting into pre mades and abusing Dynamic Q, I was Plat 2 100 LP, slowly but surely, during the season, I have declined to Plat 5, I have had bounces here and there to Plat 4 and 3, but I am pushed down to Plat 5 at the moment. I would say that 50-60% of my losses, are because the enemy team had a pre made of 3 or more people. As a player who plays this game 95% solo, it is pretty un rewarding when people can Q up together as 3-5 mans and be ranked at the same level as me, when I know they don't deserve the rank.
Individual skill in a team game?

Yes, definitely, over a large number of games if it would be just solo queue, the rankings would be quite accurate despite it being a team game. Likewise, HU poker has a massive luck factor int he short run but over hundreds of thousands of hands, it is negligible.
League is a team game, team revolved rank is supposed to be projected - not a solo skill rank.

Yes, and it always did in SQ. A large part of your skill IS playing appropriately around your team comp. and the map. This includes your team play, decision making, mechanics and everything in between. The point is that in a real solo queue, the only variable which is consistent in every game is you so the other players cancel each other out long-term and only your own performance remains as the relevant factor. Over a large sample of games, this is the best representation of skill and the least confounded.
If you add more pre-selected consistent variables to the game like 3 others that said player already knows, has plans developed with, may be on smurfs etc. (in other words, variables in your control which really can't be equalized or fully understood by the system), it adds far more variance in determining actual skill. Think of your skill as solving for x and the main factor that a ranked system is trying to derive in a simplified manner through game results. Each new consistent variable (up to a queue configuration of 5) makes solving for that x harder by adding more variables to factor in. It also greatly increases variance due to the potential pre-selected strategies, voice etc. This is even further amplified by the lack of a sufficient player pool to actually create balanced matchmaking even at Plat+ with 5 mans. IWDominate not long ago had a game where his team was -2000LP in ranking differences. LoL is a huge game but it needs to be even bigger to support DQ and something like DQ will inherently greatly increase the variance which means that you need to play way more games to reach your true skill level than if it was just a SQ system. This can work both ways - some can be much higher than their skill and some much lower, that's the nature of variance. If you had to play 200 games to get a pretty accurate representation of your skill, it's probably more than double in the new system.
BTW: The high variance nature of it is again not even my main problem with it. I simply don't think it's even remotely logical to aggregate every queue configuration on the same ladder. If they care about competitive integrity that's clearly a braindead move which makes ladder results only more ambiguous. It's not that hard to have DQ and just show separate results for each queue configuration.
You are completely on point.
Although I think you're wasting your time explaining stuff like this to the "average joes".
I know cause I already have done it numerous times and I'm sure the guy you responded to can't wrap his head around your reply.
I recently had a "conversation" here with one particular individual that is so thickheaded that he denies outright any of the problems (you mentioned them) that DQ brings and after all in the end he basically said:_ "it dosn't matter (cause DQ works in some way)"_
You can read the whole conversation here (it includes several good explanations of DQ's problems - sadly it was buried in the response tree)

And I would agree with you if League were a First-Person-Shooter or a solo-player game, but it isn't. The irony in discussing "individual skill and progress" in a team based game is so obvious and overwhelming that it's hard to even put into descriptive terms.
If you hate Dynamic Queue, that's fine, but I know the boards/old forums and I know how people would complain like mad if Solo Queue were to ever return.
"There's no team work" "No one groups" "Why can't I climb?"
When I read the complaints about Dynamic Queue the majority of the posts just say things like "It's unfair to face a premade duo/trio/quad because they're better coordinated..." Yeah, no kidding - that's what this game is supposed to be, a TEAM based game. Riot has undergone a paradigm shift with regard to how they approach this game going forward. It is clear that they are centered the focus on team play, grouping, friends, etc... And if your best argument against it is that it doesn't highlight your INDIVIDUAL skill well then you should prepare yourself for additional disappointment in the years to come.
And, to the people that say that this game has always been 100% a team game, you are speaking the truth in a sense, HOWEVER, that team play, depends on a lot of individual skill.
WHEN WILL RIOT LISTEN
15+ -25 that is all. /thread
