How Do You Think The Jungle Should Be?

Naturally there's a great deal of discussion about what people think the jungle should be like and how it effects the jungler role. Should it be tough so sustain champions should be able to go in there? Should it be simple so those with fast clear can get to their ganks?

I personally like to harken back to the days when I first started playing when the jungle was touted as a sort of "off lane" for folks who would otherwise struggle in a normal lane. Here, they might be beat up by jungle camps a bit, but they could at least not have to deal with the constant threat of an enemy champion poking and prodding at them. The added benefit of this safe lane was they were able to get money more easily (though more slowly) and could still wander into a lane to make an impact, but weren't forced to gank or be useless. Assassins could go in jungle for added surprise factor and relative safety for their early game woes. Tanks would enjoy the comfort of not being bursted down before they could get enough items to actually be, ya know, tanky.

This isn't without it's share of problems: invades still happened and the ability to crush someone in the jungle with a powerful duelist was still a worry. Fast clears meant you'd be able to go gank more often and could dip back in at any moment free of worry, or even better yet go destroy the enemy jungler. Given that the jungle was meant to be a safe haven of sorts, it also tended to encourage great wave-clear in lanes so they could, themselves, get a piece of the free gold.

Though, for all these problems I would gladly take that over the new jungle, wherein there's those who can clear and sustain fast enough to gank well and keep their farm up and everyone else. Heck, most of the time, junglers insist on taking their buffs not for the actual buffs' benefit, but because the experience and gold is so crucial to them. The new jungle is almost like a hard-mode lane where you're definitely going to get sent back before good item breakpoints, but keeping it cleared is a paradox of "everything is up and I don't know what to get" and "everything is already cleared and there is no (good) lane to gank and if I wander into the enemy jungle I'm screwed because they're Lee Sin."

But that's my two cents here. What do you think the jungle should be focused around?

It's almost fine as is, it could do with giving a little more EXP though, junglers almost always feel underleveled.

I'd say the jungle at the moment isn't a problem, it's more outlier champs like Lee and J4 making everyone's lives horrible. If those two receive some nerfs it would open up a lot more diversity in the jungle, since they currently bully out most non-bruiser junglers without actually paying for their early game power.

Jungle needs to allow for more diversity. The XP generated by the monsters is pitiful compared to how long it takes any one champion to take them out. I think that if machete's cost was lowered to allow for an additional potion as stated by another user and the XP generated for killing neutrals was increased so that jungling placed a champion on par with the rest of their team, it would allow for more diversity in the jungle and solo queue wouldn't be a place where players are absolutely terrified of jungling.

I feel like the current jungle is getting kind of close to how I feel the jungle should be, but it is not quite there yet.

I think that the jungle should have a lot of diversity, but the diversity should be there because either the jungle offers something unique to the champ that cannot be found in the lanes. The current jungle allows for this in several ways, such as:

-Smite buffs from neutral monsters, mostly Krug and Gromp buffs -Devourer and Juggernaut enchants (for on-hit damage and tenacity, respectively) -Smite buffs from jungle items (all except for Poaching Smite)

However, the jungle should be difficult, but every camp should be of approximately the same power level. And by same power level, I mean that the raptors should have a power level closer to that of the other three jungle camps. In so any cases it feels like raptors deal so much more damage than the other three normal camps.

You know what you just described is exactly what I want the jungle to be.

Season 2 jungle was my favorite to be quite honest.

Playable.

I like it how it is now.

Plenty of trade-offs between clearing, sustain, ganking. Plenty of gold too if you farm it consistently.

Only thing is that low-clear/low-defense/low-sustain junglers can't survive in it. But I don't mid not having Zed jungle.
