Master Yi - how to fix what's certainly broken
Okay, so the main reasoning for this mini-rework of Yi has to do with the idiot in balance who gave him the ability to be immune to slows during his ult and also, be an assassin with true damage. He's the only assassin with it, and this is not something an assassin is supposed to have for obvious reasons. So, rather than just complain I came up with a little rework idea to change his E and R to something people might actually like!
W - Meditate will continue to add passive stacks and pause duration of his Wuju Style, but -not- pause his ult as it is completely different
NEW E - Wuju Style (20/18/16/14/12 second cooldown)
Cost: 50/55/60/65/70 mana
REMOVED: bonus attack damage, true damage on hit for 5 seconds
NEW PASSIVE: Gain 10/20/30/40/50% attack speed (rank 1-5)
NEW ACTIVE: Master Yi's Q and basic attacks add stacks of PIERCE when the active is enabled for five seconds. Upon hitting 3/4/5 stacks of PIERCE, his next basic attack will deal 100-110-120-130-140% of his total AD over two seconds as physical damage. (as he gains attack speed, he will need to go from 3 to 4 then 5 during the active to make it more balanced. PIERCE stacks work on champions, large monsters, and epic monsters.)
NEW R - Spirit of the Seven Blades (same cooldown as old ult)
Cost: 100 mana at all ranks
REMOVED: Passive with 70% cooldown on kill or assist on basic abilities, ult extended by 7 seconds on kill/assist, movement immunity, etc.
NEW ACTIVE: Master Yi leaps into the air using his blade to create seven spirit swords to slash out at nearby champions - these blades immediately refresh Wuju Style's cooldown if they hit an enemy champion and add all stacks of PIERCE for five seconds. This is an AoE ult, much like Talon or Katarina. The ult can be cancelled by channel interrupting abilities or displacement (Malphite ult, Sion ult, Lee Sin ult) but will refund 50% of the ult cooldown. For seven seconds after the ult, Yi gains 30-40-50 extra movement speed.
PROS:
- No longer immune to slows
- No longer deals true damage on basic attacks
- No longer unable to be dodged or avoided when using ult
- Balanced - armor items will reduce his damage as intended.
- Rewarding experience - if you actually do kill 25-30 people a game, you'll have earned it with actual skill and technique rather than true damage with ignite and an ult that makes you faster than Aurelion Sol's comet of legend.
CONS:
- Many Yi mains will be upset about the changes, but they also don't think the guy needs any nerfs in the first place.
- Has counterplay, which is not a bad thing considering he can currently rip someone with 400 armor and 4,500 health to shreds, medtiate, and go on to solo baron.
So tell me what you think, honestly. Yi mains, would this be an interesting change to make Yi less banned in ranked and more viable? Would this satisfy people who despise Yi as he is and make them have enough confidence to trade?
