People crying about smurfs - you are bad and you should feel bad

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

You are crying as if you get smurfs in every game and only on the opposing team. In reality they giving you freelo by trolling enemies or actually carrying you just as often as they troll you or carry enemies. But its fine with you cause its freelo, right?

Plat 5+ is less than 10% of player base. Dia 5+ Is less than 1% I dont have actual stats for how many high elo players actually enjoying smurfing but lets say 100%

How 1% of players manages to invade and ruin every game in low ELO - to which 70% of players belong, while they also have more games on their main accounts than you? [zombie-brand-mindblown]

You are crying about smurfs as if they have some kind of unfair advantage but they do not. They playing the same game as you, using same items, runes and champions.

BUT HURR DURR THEY HAVE MORE HOURS PLAAAYED

Oh really? Do they? Some players in bronze have more hours played than many in Plat+. And they still sitting in bronze without any idea why. Does not seem like amount of hours played gives you any advantage by itself.

You are crying as if they robbing you of your agency but you had none in the first place. You are playing coin toss because you have literally no idea what you should be doing at all. So you actually have absolutely no impact on the outcome of the game. Thats why every time you end up at mercy of those that do know what they should be doing.

And last but not the least... In ANY even a bit competitive or team game, sport or similar activity - football, volleyball, tennis, chess, marathon, sprint, go, shogi, airsoft, RTS, FPS, any kind of martial art, the best, fastest, most reliable way to get better is to have someone stronger, more skilled, more experienced than you as your opponent. Even simply watching and may be imitating someone like that would allow you to improve tremendously. But actually experiencing complete wreckage yourself really lets you see what you are doing wrong. Every mistake becomes apparent, your wrong moves actually get punished, your bad habits get exploited. And then you can see where you should improve. One match with someone better worth hundreds or even thousands of those with your peers. Some people willing to pay actual real life money to get such opportunity.

BUT BUT IF OPPONENT IS TOO STRONG THEN IT WONT BE USEFUL AT ALL!

Yes. Thats absolutely not true. That does not apply to games where you have to use your head at all. And applies only to some degree to physical activities. Yes after getting wrecked by professional player kid from primary school hardly will be able to see where he was wrong because fundamentals of his opponent were that much better. But even then. He can sit down and see. HOW they were better? Why nothing of that he did could be effective? Mb i was too slow? Too short? Not accurate enough? What his body looks like? What kind of training he doing to be like that? What his stance looks like? How does he throw? After even one glimpse of real thing he will be able to find countless possibilities to get better and get advantage over his peers.

And you, after getting matched with someone better than you, come to forums to cry about that, instead of looking for a way to improve. Absolutely, fucking, disgusting.

Imagine kid running home from the street with snot dripping from his nose and crying to his parents -Mom-person! Dad-person! We were playing soccer and some kid absolutely wrecked us! UAAAA! THATS SO UNFAIR! Pls do something that he wont ever come to our playground! mom and dad look at the kid a bit worried and then ask him -What happened? Was that an older kid? Was he like, breaking rules? -No! He was of the same age and played abiding every rule! But he was way too good! Pls beat him up so he wont ever show up! And at this moment parents will look at their kid and think - "god, what have we done wrong? How did we get such spineless little shit?"

You are that kid.

Some madman on forum compared smurfing with beating up elderly. But that cannot be further from truth. You are in the same conditions. There is no elderly and no one in disadvantage.

BUT HURR DURR I DONT WANNA IMPROVE I JUST WANT TO CLICK CLICK AFTER THE WORK/SCHOOL. I HAVE LIIIFE

Then dont cry about rankeds. You clearly deserve whatever you have in such case. If you willingly giving up any possible agency you could have in the game then you cant bitch about having no impact on its outcome. No matter what happens, even if riot will "fix" smurfing and trolling and DC and AFK and make matchmaking absolutely perfect - you gonna be playing coin toss.

You are just bad and dont want to improve. Forsaking will to improve is the same as giving up on living. Its the same as being dead. Dead should not speak. Dead should stay silent and let living enjoy their lives.

the way i see smurphing in this game is the same as allowing pro athletes to compete in elementary school competitions.

it might be fun for them and their viewers to destroy a couple of fourth graders aswell, but it can hardly be considered fair.

most of the players in the lower devisions are still learning the game. having diamond to challenger ranked players fuck around in those divisions to generate twitch and youtube views is actually pretty disgraceful.

in what regard?

the entire ladder sysem is created to separate people by different skill levels. players fucking around in games with skill levels far below their own messes with the entire concept.

there are people who argue, that playing against higher ranked players is an opportunity for them to learn how to get better at the game.

but a silver level player whos getting stomped by a master level player will probably learn as much as a pre schooler in a theoretical physics lecture. learning is a gradual process. players in lower divisions who are still learning the basics of the game and struggle with concepts like csing wont understand why they got stomped, and its not like the guy is trying to explain it to them.

If you actually will try to learn you will be able to do it. Even by looking at stats you will be able to guess why he stomped you. And pretty sure if you try to focus on what you could do better during the game you will see where you made a mistake what actually gave enemy his advantage. Or if you think you didnt make any mistakes (you actually did) you can check what enemy did better than you which allowed him to get that far ahead. Your opponent got his high elo for a reason. And you can guess most of them from his play.

no, youre not. not when the knowledge gap is too large. you cant just put a first grader into university lectures and expect him to eventually learn.

and its not even like the smurph is trying to teach. hes not going to explain the less skilled players what they did wrong, or what he did better. hes just going to use the knowledge gap between them to stomp on them and thats it.

sigh... Okay... Lessons aint competitive activity. But we can consider competition between students as such. Suppose we are talking about some college tests. After one student aces his test and another... Suppose his is primary school student that takes it for some reason - fails it in the worst way possible... He can look at what other student did. Which formulas did he use? How he was able to get this from that. What kind of subject did he study to prepare for this. What did he learn before he was able to comprehend all this... oh... It looks like you actually CAN learn? A lot of thing you do in games or sports ends up being seen by your opponent. You just cant hide it when you literally have to slam it into their face.

to stay in your analogy, it isnt two students competing on a neutral test.

its more like both students prepare a test for each other, and the one who gets the better score passes, while the other fails the class. the outcome should be obvious.

If you want to stay with my analogy then get back to sports. You started by bringing quite unrelated things like university level physics and possibility of kindergarden kids understanding it. I think you see how much all of it unrelated to our topic and cannot be compared to league.

And i dont think that anyone argues that one will fail and another will pass. No matter if it neutral or not.

im talking about knowledge gap.

you have two people competing against each other who have no business competing.

your argument would be sound if you didn't have replays to go back and evaluate what could be learned, but thats not the case.

It all starts with"what could i have done different"

you dont need to compromise the ladder and its competitive integrity to do that.

anyone can go and watch replays of high mmr games.

Watching someone else lane against a high tier isn't the same as this specific low tier laning against him thinking he did something right, to go back and watch and find out he didn't and then thinking about what he could have done. It's more about self awareness than anything else in the scenerio.

An example would be( using me as the example here) what i said to someone else earlier about me laning against lourlo in a norms because ranked was down, just getting massively shit on made me go watch over and over about what i could have done different till i started doing different, better things

Let’s put you up against some lcs players and see how you fare. The road goes both ways and if you cannot see the unfairness in diamonds and plats “trolling and having fun” in bronze and silver, then the space between your ears must be empty.

i got matched against lourlo in a norms once, because ranked was down and he was playing with viewers, even tho he was trolling he still shit on me and did think i wasn't thinking would be able to happen, after going back and studying how he did thing i started winning more because i was putting them in practice.

but ig im just someone who looks for the positives instead of crying all the time

I would be really hyped and pretty happy about such match up. Im pretty sure i will lose. But i will be thrilled about such chance anyway. Its like you didnt read my post at all. You think i didnt level up my account myself when i first started playing? I actually played lvls 1 - 30 myself. And i was getting diamonds or plats on opposing team even before i hit level 15. Not smurfs. Diamonds on THAT account. You open OP.GG and check him - "oh, Morgana on my lane is dia 4 support main. Okay." I wrecked my MMR really hard by playing with high elo friends that actually brought me into the game. So such things were happening on regular basis even when i was alone. You know what i've been thinking in such cases? "WHAT A BLESS! Such ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT OPPORTUNITY! IM GONNA ENJOY playing versus him. Im so thrilled i cant wait for a game to start!" You know what ive been thinking when game was loading and i had no idea versus whom im playing? "I hope im gonna end up versus some master or challender. or diamong. Or at least gold ffs. This would be SO MUCH FUN" Cuz playing versus good players is interesting. Even if you lose you can get something from there. And it will be entertaining no matter what.

So i have no idea what you are trying to imply. Wont you be thrilled about chance to check how well will you fare versus LCS player? I know you wont. Or you wont be saying this.

While I don't agree with the tone of this piece, I really do agree with the overall point of this. I love chess as a game, and the times I learned the most was when I was facing someone who was just that much better than me. Is it always the most fun to get stomped? No, but it does give the most opportunities to learn. When I was facing people that were equal or lower than me in skill it never really helped as much as when I faced the person who was that much better. Should always treat moment like this as learning experience.

I think the difference though is clear. I play chess as well. I played and lost in my chess club for two straight years. The highest rated player in our club was only 1480.

I did go on to win my first tournament, but it was because I was matched with players who were within reach of beating.

Scenario 1. You are rated 1300. You lose to a Grand Master. The grandmaster kidbitzes with you after the game. Result: sure you'll learn a little and if you take the GMs advice. You might improve, if you understand it.

Scenario 2. Same situation, but this time the GM doesn't explain it. You review the game and draw the wrong conclusions. Very little actionable experience is gained here.

And in both scenarios you actually knew your opponent was a GM.

In LoL you don't have that luxury. It's quite possible that you got stomped by a significantly better player yet if you're nnew you assume their at least in you elo. Additionally, very little if anything is learned from being stomped like that.

Because there are so many things wrong with their play that they can't begin to understand where they went wrong.

And it's very rare that any player let alone a high elo Smurf takes a new players under their wing to help them to become better.

The LoL experience would be better if Riot could reduce or eliminate Smurfs all together. Especially for Solo Q players.

Astorine1 votes

This sums up the idea mostly good, however riot will never eliminate smurfs, to hard and smurfs earn them $$$$

This doesn't belong in gameplay because it's actually true

This thread is forgeting by the very maths that if you do not smurf, there is only 4/5 of your team that are potential smurfs yet 5/5 of the enemy are randoms and potential smurfs. You also act as if getting stomped or watching your teams smurf get fed then spam Q is a learning experience (which it is sometimes, situationally but mostly not). People want to improve (usually) but have every right to complain if they find they are not learning from smurf games. The smurfs are the kids put in A division soccer going to C division and kicking the enmy team in the nuts, and it is moronic to belive that the C kids not liking this means they are not taking an opportunity to improve. Improvement is learning how people AS GOOD as you or slightly better play then improving beyond that to git gud, what you said has some truth but generally ignores not all people in all situations are able to learn from a stomp. Especially if it is another team member that fed the smurf, this is a lot more reasionable if describing a matchup in lane against a smurf that isn't a whole world above you but uses understandable skills to beat you. While i have lost (but improved) from Me vs smurf lanes sometimes, i have never learned from a riven fed by my top jumping on me and mashing Q. Plus you dry out and re-beat the idea of the fun of playing against people way supirior to you at the game (not true for everyone), that contradicts the idea of smurfing when it is just to have "fun" wrecking low-elo players. So you better be talking about smurfs that exist to play with or teach friends/ want to play casually or play a new champ.

All I’ll say is remember when you were a new player and were learning the game? It’s not really skillful to destroy people with 1% of your experience
