What is it that makes Lissandra so awful in the current meta?

Lissandra. I don't ever see this champion anymore. Ever. I've used her a few times in normals. I do alright in the laning phase, albeit midlane is my absolute worst role. Yet somehow, she still does... bad. I can't figure out what it is that makes her not viable! She can lockdown priority targets SO WELL and yet for some reason NOBODY uses her anymore! Does anyone know why? Is it because she isn't as bursty? Is it because she's reliant on a team that's smart enough to act together and actually follow up on her ultimate? She looks SO OP it's insane!!!!

She isn't awful at all. It's the same as when ANY champion gets balanced, people stop playing them and move on to the flavor of the month freelo champions since they don't have enough skill to win on champs that are actually balanced.

Can I marry you, please? This is the sassiest comment I've ever seen and this is the same frustration I feel with the entirety of this community; Literally the _league of bare minimum effort to stomp the enemy team _ is what it has seemed like lately. Let's not discuss this here though haha.

I honestly do find her to be balanced, but I will agree with you that she takes a lot more skill than some of the other midlaners do nowadays due to her lack of mobility, which she exchanges for hard af cc.

Play her top lane. Her short spell ranges are a big reason why she isn't played so much (especially as a mid). At least as a top laner, she out ranges most of her opponents

Not in the meta is the dumbest thing people say. Lissandra is perfectly viable if you play her right. Problem is people don't because she doesnt

-have the range of the typical mages

-burst like the typical assassin

shes an inbreed which means people don't know how to play her right. She typically useful for distracting the entire team with a suicide ult and immobilizing that one fed player and picks as well. Ravenous Yi killing your team? Ult. Shes good. People just don't really like the rest of her for the above reasons.

I see! Thank you so much for this explanation; I think this is the best one I've ever seen; an inbred that simply doesn't fit a specific role, and lacks certain aspects of each individual thing she is supposed to be! Do you happen to know how to play her well yourself? I wouldn't mind it if you taught me a few lessons yourself, as I really find her to be the most interesting mid laner (aside from Diana <3) for me.

Eh, I don't agree. People did well with her and played her a ton not too long ago and even before she showed up in the LCS she was more popular and did better.

I've never seen Liss as unpopular as she currently is, I don't think you can pin this down to "people don't know how to play her right". It seems like the people who know how to play her have given up on her.

She also has alot of sustained dps with her q being a 2 sec cd

Lissandra require more effort put into than the champion that are currently strong in this meta. Lets give an exemple of Viktor, unlike lissandra his main pokes is very strong, he has enough utilities and damage off the chart compare to others mid laner. Lissandra Q,R,E,W,Q late game on an adc is not enough to kill them. They are going to sustain everything up back. One thing old lissandra had was damage and CC, now she is pretty much utility mage and a stunbot. She requires a hypercarry to pull off the most out of her in teamfights. Stunlock someone and the hypercarry Vayne goes in and makes plays since her ulti slow everyone and lissandra peel vayne.

Good example, I agree with this completely.

I used to see lissandra support a while back. I wonder if people still use her as one.

personally, i wouldn't play lissandra without a team that has strong lock down (amumu, jarvan, sej). her range is short and she has to get dangerously close to carries to do damage. she's high risk high reward. i think people just prefer someone who can reliably get results with less risk.

I'm pretty sure Lissandra is better to be put in top lane if you're going to be focussing on her lockdown.

If you want to focus on damage then you're going to have a hard time because she needs to get kinda really close to deal damage. You can use an enemy target to shatter her Q extending its range for harass but that pushes up the lane quite quickly. Her AoE snare IS useful against melee carries though, combined with her Ice Claw she has solid escape. Her ult is really good for obvious reasons. It can counter mobile carries like Kalistas and Master Yis or Yasuos.

She's strong but doesn't have the same safety as current top tier mages. If you can get through lane phase and farm well I think you can't ignore her with that much CC.

The last nerfs on her Q really hurt her lane phase, now she can't poke and outsustain enemies like she used to. For example, she used to be one of the few counters to Cho'Gath, but due to the Q nerfs, he can now outsustain her damage.

There is also the fact that many tanks can have as much CC as her but they are... tanky.

Sassmast3r2 votes

Yes, but doesn't she have really good damage in return? I mean, she doesn't seem really all that weak.

Well her Q was nerfed super hard, since it was the main poke against melees top (riven, irelia, and other melees) Her W was nerfed super hard and from .6 to .4 ap ratio I believe and her passive doesnt really bring much power overall to her. Her Q cost too much early, and her W just doesn't bring enough cc or damage. :P Thats what I think is wrong with her, other than that her ult is very versatile and fun to use, her E has good scaling, damage, and CD. Its just her Passive, Q, and W that make her not a top tier or 2nd tier pick

I think it's because tanks can handle her too easily and she lacks the sustained DPS to deal with them.

She's basically mage-Vi, if she goes in to do her combo it's Win or Die. When all you have on the enemy team is a bunch of squishies it carries a decent probability of success. If you've got 3 tanks on the enemy team you aren't getting a high chance of even trading 1 for 1 and you would rather have had a safer pick like Viktor/Orianna/Azir.
