I need to know how to play top lane. Help me.

I had a potatoe so I only played aram because I would star my games ar 25 fps and by midgame my fps would drop to 09 fps.

Then I stumbled into scrapcomputer's league youtube channel and learned some mid suport and adc laning tips. But that chanel has nothing on top lane.

Can you guys give me some basics about top?

I'd recommend watching SoloRenektonOnly. He tends to emphasis managing minion waves, champion combos, matchups and other tips for top-lane.

Pick second. Never pick your champion first in top lane.

SoloRenektonOnly is the youtuber / streamer you want to subscribe to. Don't be misguided by name, he plays a lot of champions and does that for entertainment mainly. But is very informative as he usually talks loudly about his thought process before he makes stuff happen. He's not master's but mid diamond player. So most of what talks are relevant stuff basics like trading patterns, minion wave manipulation, recall timings, gank set ups etc.

Another good one is Neace, for better understanding of the game in general. Level-headed master tier player. Who focuses more on lower elos.

Basics: lane is won and lost by minion wave manipulation. This will effect your recall timings, security versus ganks, trading effectiveness, pretty much everything. What you're looking in general is usually to accumulate a lot of small advantages which you later convert into big ones. Early all in's happen, but either it's very match up dependent (darius), specific type of cheese (tryn, wukong), or has at least 1 player who is somewhat clueless about whole thing in general. This might be the big difference from mid lane, where kill pressure becomes high after one successful trade and is perhaps more champion mechanics dependent than top lane.

Tip: oh and expect gank at 2:30~3:00 meaning, don't set yourself up with a minion wave in a way that exposes you to early 1v2 versus a jungler with double buffs. Jungler will usually start bottom where he can get a stronger leash by bot lane, clear 2 more camps and come for you.

  1. Never first pick Nasus or Riven
  2. Always expect their jungler, never expect your own
  3. If you lose lane build tank; if you win lane tank is also not a bad option
  4. Freezing the lane at the right time whilst potentially boring, can be a life-saver
  5. Never tower-dive anything with hard cc or an execute mechanic; tanks are, well, tanks, and if they aren't a tank something in their kit grants stupid survivablity
  6. If you see Teemo , Heimerdinger or Singed you can write off any plans of having fun; you may win lane, but it will be a hollow and unsatisfying victory...

As a bronze three jungle main, my advice likely isn't the best, but I personally think that for learning top lane, a big stupid tank is a good way to start playing, so play something like Cho'Gath, Garen, or Darius.

I don't play top so I won't say a bunch, but from what I see a good top knows when to push or freeze his lane. And for the love of all that is holy, ward and understand if you push up to the enemy turret expect a jungler to slip on up there and gank

"I'm just gonna play full ad sion, feed my ass off, then tp bot and win the game" -Imaqtpie

So basically just tp bot and win
