So.... Buff Teemo?

Top team in the region takes it against one of the worst teams. Casters are talking about how they would never pick it unless it was a game that completely didn't matter to their standing AND was a joke, because picking that champ will trash their chance to win. The normally dominant team gets completely crushed.

Now, some people will say that one game doesn't prove anything, but it really looks like the casters and conventional wisdom are right, you really can't win against competent opponents while having Teemo on your team.

Memes about hating him aside, is there a sound game design reason why he shouldn't have a reasonable path to success comparable to other champions? Despite his ult being literally toxic it's not as metaphorically toxic as, say, old Poppy ult.

Teemo has been sitting on a solid 53 percent winrate for such a long time now. Teemo is fine. Do you really want him buffed just so you can complain about him getting nerfed later?

Just because you got butthurt that an LCS shoutcaster doesnt like your champion doesn't mean they're weak. I'm a Wukong main and he never gets played professionally. Do I think he's weak? Hell no. Does he need buffs? Hell no. He's completely fine as is, probably on the strong side tbh.

inb4 "hurr durr but muh small playerbase!" Still a shit argument. My main is played less competitively AND less in regular games and I still dont think these are valid reason to cry "OMG MUH CHAMP IS SO WEAK"

omg the shoutcaster is the end all be all of balance!!!!! His opinion is so great that it actually overides the decision of the ACTUAL professionals that picked him

i agree like there should not be a champ that in high elo is just so trash that no one would want to pick him either riot buffs him which i dont really like or they rework him a bit which i would not mind

Teemo's actually got something like a 51.5% winrate right now, and the top lane meta favors him. He can bully a lot of melee fighters like Irelia and such. He's a risky pick because he's squishy, sure, but not UP enough to warrant a buff.

Buff Teemo? Are you kidding me? He's seeing LCS play as is.

Teemo got a penta on brazil or one of the wildcard regions and has been picked in Korea. Teemo may not be the best champion but he is not that weak

Nah there are people who have 70% win rates in Masters as Teemo. He's unbelievably strong in the right hands.

And he's one of my mains.

You have to also take into consideration that hauntzer hasn't practiced teemo at all recently.

His winrate really is just a product of him being the troll niche pick for so long, only dedicated Teemo players seriously play him. Part of it he is generally simple to play though (won't exactly say easy, because he is easy to kill compared to most champions).

Anyways I don't agree with the notion of a 53% winrate meaning he's strong. It could just mean he's stronger than before thanks to not too distant ago buffs. That 3% is Teemo players getting back some of what they deserve thx to buffs and being hardly even niche for so long. I think sometimes winrates is a notion of change, instead of power. Overtime it may settle out and Teemo will go down and Azir will slowly climb back up for example. But the sudden shock of the change did something.

Another way to say it. Teemo players are 'elo tuned' . Maybe had they put the same dedication to a more consistently viable champ they would be at slightly higher rank and over the long run, have no better winrates over the long run, but be at a slightly better rank.

High level players really don't like having Teemo on their team...
