Aram changes first impresion

I play tons of Aram. Basically the only mode I play cause SR gets hella toxic in a hurry. Some initial thoughts on the new changes based on my first 20-30 games in Aram.

Positive changes:

  1. Love the health relic changes... Absolutely amazing. Better for team play and the tension it causes on the bridge fighting around them is awesome.
  2. PLEASE LEAVE WARMONGS OUT AFTER THIS EVENT. So much better without it.
  3. EXP starting in the right spot for level 3. Didn't realize how long of a stall it used to be.
  4. Starting gates. Can't say I miss that lvl 3 bush cheese where one team loaded faster than the other and was able to get into your side bush before half your team was even in the game.

Negative Changes:

  1. New assassin items. Horrible in their current state. Literally turn aram into a game of throw mark, hit cutlass get free kills and escape with no counter play if you happen to draw a team lacking hard cc. Longer CD needed. I understand this iteration is built to boost assassin and Pyke hype but it's made assassins virtually impossible to deal with since Cutlass is always a first item and the get out of jail free boots that make you untargetable just add to it.
  2. Banner of Command in Aram is now exceptionally busted. Before it only really sucked if you were full AP. Now when a whole team buys them, you end up with an unkillable wave pushed to your tower you can't deal with. Needs toned down or removed from Aram. Of the games I've played so far there's been only 1 or 2 that hasn't had multiple banners in it.

Good/Bad/Undecided:

  1. Probably the only thing I'm on the fence about is the Bench. Idea and theory behind it were good. Yes it's nice that you dont have to worry about someone RR'ing a champ you wanted before you got a chance to trade them. However, it also has made Aram feel more like, "Everyone use your rerolls and lets put together the best team with the 15 options we have available to us" mode rather than all random. I think this also has to do with the fact you get rerolls every game, so there is no real drawback to using your RR in the odds of getting a champ someone on your team mains or is at least very competent with.

These are my thoughts, I know that there are people that love the Assassin Items, the level 3 brush cheese, and Warmongs, but this is my experience from day one of the Aram changes. For the most part I like the changes, the only parts I'm not enjoying so much is the item additions/changes that make aram feel like more of a game of who can hit their cutlass first/who has more assassins.

As another ARAM enthuasist I can only say that I agree with some of your comments, disagree with others and thus I won't either up or downvote you.

On my matches yesterday I didn't see Cutlass in action, and frankly your description how people use it sounds scary. I saw Wallrunners used a lot and people seemed to be practicing their use, occasionally succeeding very well. Even a Garen used those. The boots might need some kind of nerf, or maybe just need to not exist. They might become too much of a game changer once people learn to abuse them. Judgement pending on the boots. ;)

I didn't experience Banner of Command either, but I can see the events you describe happening. We shall see if that becomes a big problem or not in the coming days.

The bench I love. Health relic I like. However, I disagree with you about warmog removal. Starting gates and the extended champion pool are fine.
