his ult can be used to start a team fight or mop up one, but yeah I see that a lot. also I don't build cdr on jhin I rock those autos like a true adc.
Getting in autoattack range as Jhin in a teamfight is usually a death sentence tbh.

Last time I played with one I was playing a tank and found a great pick potential with jhin. Instead of just running up and right clicking once or twice for a free kill, he ran away from me to try to ult. By then it was too late
... People do that? I only ult when I can get a kill(or kills) with it, and even then that's if my W is on CD or if they're out of range of it. I'd rather save it for when I actually need it then waste it. I mean, if I'm late to a teamfight, then yeah I'm going to ult cause I won't get kills/assists otherwise, but I try to be where I'm needed.
He's really easy to get to in a teamfight compared to most ADCs because of his attack speed. There's a reason his abilities are such a long range. Also late game most ADCs have enough attack speed to just stand still and right click him to death before he can get his 3rd auto off if he is in a 1v1 with an enemy ADC, so his long range is really a necessity.
I only ult to stop champions from getting away but ulting with jhin when a fight begins would be the same thing as ulting with cait or jinx lmao. Wasting range.
I had a jhin 2 games ago only use his ult in fights. I go to gank his lane, its just me and him, I get ezreal to 10% health, I get snared by morg, Jhin ults and is targeting the Morg. Like bro, you couldve just walked up and autod the ez but nope, we both die because jhin too scared to auto.
Then he does the exact same thing in a team fight. We are all fighting, Jhin sits back, we all die, Ez and elise have 5% health while the morg has 75%. The Jhin focuses the morg, legit 2 open kills not even hiding behind the morg and he goes for morg.
I've only played Jhin two or three times now and even in that short time I've found his ult to be annoying compared to AA. Jhin's ult really should be used like 
Jinx's: when you're too far away to get in the fight or to lead a charge.

Idk why you ever wouldn’t auto as Jhin considering it’s the majority of your damage.

Admittedly im a noob, but i find it very difficult to AA with Jhin without taking a lot of damage, probably lethal.
More people are playing him now for that flavor of the month. It'll change by next month... if Riot does their job or just decides to leave it for the next 3-6 months.
