Refusing to surrender should be reportable

When the enemy has us pushed in to base with no inhibitors and we've only taken down one tower and you for some crazy reason believe we can make a comeback and continually refuse the surrender vote making the game go on for 40 minutes should be a punishable offense. People hate feeders and afkers because they ruin the game and waste time. Why should you be allowed to waste my 40 minutes of my time on an obviously lost game?

Spamming surrender votes and harassing allies for not being defeatist should be reportable.

Wanting to surrender to an enemy team with a 13k gold lead is not being a defeatist. It is being a realist

lol @ downvotes not surrendering is a joke

Having come from playing starcraft, where it's considered bad manners to delay a game by not surrendering, I usually surrender whenever my teammates ask to.

That being said, there's always a chance to win and refusing to surrender should NOT be reportable. I won several games recently when extremely behind. One game, I was 0/4/0 in lane and ended the game 10/6/10. Another game, our team were behind 14k gold, but came back with a lucky ace. Especially if it's ranked, refusing to surrender should be absolutely OK.

Also, how does the game last 40 minutes more if it's "obviously lost"?

Because the enemy team just sits outside the base killing minions

If they're sitting outside the base killing minions, they don't think they can win yet. So if your foe doesn't think that can win yet, why do you think you've already lost?

To be honest, with the LoL community, they probably knew they could win. They likely just sat there in hopes of getting their next item or full build before closing it out; much like how people play in Bot games when they are OBVIOUSLY too good for the bots.

I know I've seen this a few times, and my team has done it a few times (I usually end up trying to solo push because I hate it.)

So yea, just because they're farming and keeping you locked up in your base, doesn't necessarily mean they don't think they can win.

The number of times this happens seems very low though, I'd guess something like 1/50 to 1/100 games based on personal experience. I've seen teams wait around near your fountain hoping to get a free kill or two before finishing it off, but that's a different experience than what's being described.

Oh I never said it was a COMMON occurrence, I merely said that when it does, it doesn't necessarily mean that the team doing it doesn't think they can win, they might just be greedy/rude AF.

I've had this happen before... It was the most agonizing twenty minutes of my entire gaming career. I had a game before Vi got her 'nerf' (literally got 5 movement speed shaved off... Apparently that's enough to make her not Freelo anymore.) where we were sitting in our base and literally unable to do anything except force the Super Minions off of the Nexus Towers (and that's an accomplishment when the enemy team went and broke all three inhibitors) but she refused to end it. We all knew she could 1v5 Penta our sorry butts because she was so ridiculously fed but she just refused to do so until she had full build, Baron, and 4 Dragon Stacks.

I wish such people were reportable specifically for it because nothing has ever so discouraged me from playing League as that bitch who forced us into a defensive spot and then decided to stall the game as long as possible to reach that full build. It may have been 'Fun' to her but to me it was a very literal Hell.

Cool story bro.

If you really had no inhibitors left, super minions would end the game on their own even if the enemy team did nothing. If your "NEVER GIVE UP NEVER SURRENDER" teammates actually managed to make the game go 40 minutes longer, then that means you guys probably could have won if it wasn't for a certain defeatist on the team holding them back.

No retreat, no surrender, that is Spartan law. And by spartan law we will stand and fight, and all will know, that 5 Spartans gave their...

That's what I start writing when people spam surrender; especially if the status quo did not change

Who says that you have to play with the game of a mentality of only playing if you think you will win? There is often the case that a game that seems lost can be turned, but even if it's highly unlikely, some of us are just wanting to play the game for the sake of the game and even if we think it's lost, how can you learn anything from a game you just quit? Plus it's pretty unsportsmanlike to the other team if you don't let them just finish it imo. That being said, I do think there are many cases where you should actually surrender, I just think they are far fewer than the ones that occur. One time, I had 5 minutes left before I had to leave the game, which would make my team eventually lose, but the enemy team surrendered despite the fact that they could have made it into a win.

My idea of "playing the game" involves being able to leave my own base without dying instantly

Have you ever seen one of those people who spams "gg" if you get a bad support or as soon as someone dies? gg surrender, gg surrender. Those are the kind of people who would abuse this type of report option.

I don't know if it should be reportable, but its definitely annoying. Its just so much fun having an 0-15 duo botlane refusing to surrender when the rest of the team does. Duo ques should only count as one vote.

a good portion of the community likes to trap you in a game they know they lost with their bad playing. a good portion of the playerbase also likes to extend games they've won needlessly. both should be a bannable offense and the behavior on both sides can be categorized as nothing more than trolling. i've seen pro games forfeited under better conditions than my normal games have dragged on for.

to the people who do it, you're not funny, you're not cute or brave or heroic. you're a troll, you're wasting people's time and getting enjoyment out of their displeasure and you should be banned.

FatesDefiler1 votes

if a person can be banned for going afk in a game with intentional feeders who vote no surrender where your 'teammates' are talking to the enemy team players and joking and dragging a 10-50 blowout on for 50 minutes, and I have. then the people who create those conditions should likewise be bannable. having a person leave a game or refuse to play with intentional feeders is better behavior than going 1-9-0 and voting no surrender. this community is just dumber than a bowl of angry seahorses.

you put somebody into a position where there's no way to play the game well. then you force the game to continue to be played for nothing other than to make that person miserable. i've seen it in dozens of games, and it's this communities sanctioned form of 'trolling'. it's incredibly abusive and a good part of the reason why riot's tribunal banning system is so incredibly inaccurate.

I don't think refusing to Surrender should be reportable... I've had games where I wanted to surrender but the rest of the team refused and we won, in a recent game with Anivia on ARAM I was the one carrying and ended up turning the game. But I can understand where you are coming from, because I've also had games where my team was forced against their Nexus with three super waves pushing and the enemy around 15k ahead and they still refused to Surrender.

If anything I feel like Surrendering itself should be reworked to consider the Gold Advantage and lean more towards 'Yes' or 'No' based around it (I'd suggest K/D/A and Objective Control but I think that'd be too much work for Riot)
