Disappointed with how they made Kindred's ult work

(Posting again since old got deleted cuz wrong forum board thingy. Please upvote if you'd like a change so Riot can notice)

Kindred's ult doesn't go off unless you hold your cursor inside the ult radius. There is no way you can make it go off unless you hold your cursor inside your ult radius and press R. Even if you press somewhere else she won't R, but walk there and stop. Then you have to press R, inside your radius.

I thought this was because she had to ult where her radius reached, but that's not the case. If you press R on mid, she will walk there and when she reaches her destination she will stop. She doesn't activate her ult. So I suggest either make her R trigger upon clicking R, even if you click it outside the radius, or make it so that wherever you click she will walk and then ACTIVATE her ult when she reaches this place. Because having none of these just counters the whole idea of being able to save her allies, clicking 1 cm outside where you "can" ult, then walking there and not ulting is not working out imo. Having to move my cursor away from my enemies, into my own ult radius, just to save my own life, is not ideal.

There are similar abilities to kindreds R that do activate instantly/walk where you pressed and then gets activated. For example, if you press Elise's spider-form E at another space than where you are, she will walk and then perform her E. If you press Taric R somewhere else, he will instantly pop his ability instead. So please make Kindred's R more efficient. :)

If I'm unclear, just give feedback and I'll try to explain better, I'm writing this while waiting for my soup to finish cooking

It is because her ultimate is a champion targeted ability.

Edit: Active: Lamb blesses the ground under an allied champion or herself for 4 seconds.

I think what they are trying to say is if they target someone outside of range she walks up to them but doesn't cast the spell.

Yeah =) thnx

so basically like Oriana instead of just throwing the ball like every single skillshot of the game she just walks to reach the point you click?

Btw thats the reason i don't play oriana, i find that so stupid.

But if it's a targeted ability, it should work like Kayle's R which is herself/ally. If you target the ground (pressing R only), Kayle doesn't move. If you target the ground with Kindred, she walks there. That's the poorly made thing.

Edit: I'm trying out different champion target abilities, to see if they make champions move when not targeting anything. So far, none have moved. I tested Taric's E (enemy stun), and if I click outside his E radius/not on an enemy he just stands still.

Also tested Kayle's R, which is same concept as kindred, targeting ally/yourself, and Kayle does NOT walk to the a random spot u press using R key at with no ally.

Nida's heal too.. She doesn't move.

Bard W, he moves to location and uses his W.

Nasus E, he moves to location and uses his E.

**Conclusion is, so far, all champions either WALK there AND USE their ability upon arriving to destination, or they don't walk at all and don't perform. I think they should put kindred like this as well. **

Orianna skillshot works that wall (No idea why, is just stupid)

Alt-R

Alt initiates a selfcast; it should drop her R right under her.

You can Shift-R an allied champion and it should drop it right under them. The shift basically turns on smart cast while it is held down.

NOTE: I don't own Kindred or I would test this myself to verify.

I play kindred frequently and I have noticed some inconstancy using the Alt+R method, there are times I have to spam it 3 or 4 times to get it to cast, but never noticed my cursor position so they may be related? but I have noticed some odd behavior that isn't just derp finger like I assumed at first.

Is this why I always die cuz my cursor is in the wrong spot when I press R T___T

Been playing Kindred a lot lately and I always feel like I'm doing something wrong when I ult. This would explain a lot.

A nice thread with feedback and an actual problem, good job mate! (I hate Kindred btw and hope when they fix this they will mistakenly delete the champ)

this is so painfully true and needs to be fixed

I play Kindred often but I did not notice this until you pointed it out. I don't use their ult that often unless I can save a team mate, because of how it can easily throw a team fight.

cant tell you how many times ive missed the chance to r becuase i have to click myself when out of habit with other champions i just click around the area.

From what I am reading, it seems like you believe that Kindreds R is castable on terrain. It HAS to be cast on a champion and that explain why they will walk towards a champion to cast the spell when outside of the range.

Edit: I am an idiot and didn't read the other replies. I see where the issue lies. You basically have to cast R twice to walk to a champ and cast it, when it should be cast like other targetable spells.

So the battle for Kindred's abilities' rights' to function as normal target abilities goes on!Renekton

I most angry about how it affects revives if she ults while someone revives.

Right now most Revives are coded as heals while the person reviving is made untargetable with 1 hp. This means that if they're reviving while within the radius of Kindred ult, they end up reviving with 1 hp. This affects Zil ut, Aatrox, Zac, and GA.

Wat

That's retarded.

yeah, but what's riot going to do?

(Sorry. Pet peeve.)

ON a more supportive note, I haven't played them enough to notice this, but the consensus seems to be that it's a problem. I definitely agree that it should activate on-the-spot or at the destination, and I'm surprised it doesn't already. I always assumed it would just activate the moment you clicked regardless.

Good catch, OP. Hopefully they fix this.

Yeah just click alt R, itll self cast the ult.

Le Tongue1 votes

yes sir! but that still doesn't fix the gameplay about that targeted abilities shouldnt be able to cast on ground for kindred to aimlessly walk around

FlippyGoneTrippy1 votes

Do you play with quick/self cast? :S I've played enough Kindred games and don't think I've ever had a problem getting her ultimate off. Could this maybe be because you have to target a champion and you're maybe thinking you can target the ground? (Lux E vs. Annie Q)

Le Tongue2 votes

Yeah I play with smartcast. It's my bad not thinking it was a target ability, I'll work with that from now on. But the issue remains, that targeted abilities should not make you walk to a spot. Just like taric stun, or w/e other ability in the league, doesn't make you walk. Kindred feels left out!

MrSlowDie1 votes

yeah this happened a lot to me. I have to click on myself to make it work. Poppy's W doesn't work this way though.

I just picked up Kindred and have noticed that my ultimate doesn't always go off when I expect it to. Thankful you wrote this so I can adjust accordingly.

Personally i disappointed with her ult entirely. I mean it just doesn't ft at all. Ive never liked it and im certain i never will. I have many reasons for this that will fill 20 pages.
