Yasuo vs. XXX Top

I just played a game as Sion vs Yasuo, and I really just don't know how to counter him. He seems to do way more damage that I can mitigate. When we both hit lvl 6 I felt as strong if not stronger, but the entire laning phase before that he was just bullying me out of cs (had ~30 cs lead).

What are the general methodologies to counter Yas?

You can't just let him constantly Q you for free. That's basically it honestly - most tops won't lose to a yasuo if they play semi aggressively.

So as a melee top, do you just give him the first few waves? That's when it happened, he got me in the first few trades and I couldn't seem to get back into it, then the cs advantage spiraled.

I really am just looking to learn, so thank you for the response!

Yasuo really isn't that hard to beat period he's kinda underpowered at the moment. If you really want him to suffer pick a champion like poppy or vlad.

Yasuo is what we like to call cancer. He's an OP champion with double critical strike chance of a normal champ, a shield, a projectile blocking wind wall, a 0.5 cd dash that stacks two times on damage, and a Q that on the third use allows a whirlwind applying melee on-hit effects to people over 6 body lengths away, that's not even mentioning the fact he has an ult that has 29 seconds of CD on level 3 and grants 50% bonus armor pen for 15 seconds after use. People actually think this is a well balanced champ, and a nice history of their matches usually shows they play him, which is why they want nothing to happen to the guy.

However, he has some major counters. Malzahar, Darius, Garen, all of them work extremely well with holding him down. Sion actually is pretty good at taking him down a few pegs, build thornmail and frozen heart and then focus on health and health regen. Don't bother trying to hit a knock-up Q unless he has no minions to E through, and slow him with E and possibly frozen mallet's passive long enough to get a few good shots in. Basically, don't stop at armor, focus on health and health regen!

The best counter, of course, is simply for that champ to lose the double crit and bonus armor pen on ult, he's fine without those two things, but oh well.

As a melee top laner, I find him hard to deal with if right at level 1, he wants to 100-0 all in you if you even dare cs a single, pathetic minion. I don't want to FIGHT TO THE DEATH over one cs :/

Yasuo is the natural predator of Sion. He's easily able to avoid your abilities and punish you because of his mobility.

It's sort of like fighting Riven as Sion. You have to play safe and get your armour to win.
