Fiddlesticks needs to be changed.
Fiddlesticks is the sole reason as to why I started playing this game. I am a huge fan of Scarecrow from the batman comics. Hell there is even a Scarecrow in the marvel comics who talks to Crows who is even more obscure than his dc counterpart.
There are so many opportunities a Scarecrow can take in a game. Scarecrows were originally created to scare away Crows and other birds. There has being many variations, uses and tales but mostly Scarecrows end up being a perch for Crows and actually more frightening to kids.
What does fiddlesticks do that resembles or embody the Scarecrow.
He has a Scythe, Throws a Crow than bounces around targets like a pin ball machine. Instantly terrifies a champion up to 2.25 seconds that causes the champion to slowly run away. Teleports, summoning a bunch of crows in a circle around him. Stands still like a scarecrow Draining Life away from his foes.
Here is his lore.
For nearly twenty years, Fiddlesticks has stood alone in the easternmost summoning chamber of the Institute of War. Only the burning emerald light of his unearthly gaze pierces the musty darkness of his dust-covered home. It is here that the Harbinger of Doom keeps a silent vigil. His is a cautionary tale of power run amok, taught to all summoners within the League. Decades ago, there existed a powerful rune mage from Zaun - Istvaan. At the end of the fifth Rune War, he became one of the League's first summoners. Too much a prisoner to the old ways of magic, Istvaan stepped further and further outside the rules of conduct in the League. In what was ultimately his last match, his reach finally exceeded his grasp. Sealing himself inside the easternmost summoning chamber, he began incanting the most forbidden of rituals - an extra-planar summoning.
What exactly happened inside that chamber remains unknown. No champion came to represent Zaun that day in Summoner's Rift. Only silence echoed back from repeated knocks on the chamber door. The first apprentice who entered was cut down immediately by an unearthly scythe. What few who followed and survived were driven mad by fear, mere husks of men gibbering about crows and death. Afraid of the evil even Istvaan could not control, the League sealed all exits to the chamber, hoping they could contain what they could not destroy. Years went by, but the wooden figure within never moved save to slay any foolish enough to enter. Seeing no recourse to reclaim the chamber, the Council instead devised a use for Fiddlesticks: executioner. While he comes to life and seemingly abides by the rules of summoning in the Fields of Justice, what he awaits inside his chamber is unknown. His unmoving face yields no clues, and his scythe stands ready to strike down any who stand before him.
Those who say "you have nothing to fear but fear itself" have not yet felt the crows.
What we can read fiddlesticks Caused Fear in men gibbering about crows/etc and Fiddlesticks even striking down an apprentice if not more with "an unearthly scythe" Fiddlesticks does not in his kit use this scythe in any way but to swing "Legend of Zelda" Energy blades from his scythe regardless of his HP condition.
The crows in fiddlesticks are hardly used in his kit but when he throws a pinball at enemies or when he summons a horde after he begins channeling. What if Fiddlesticks called upon a small swarm of Crows in a cone instead of throwing a miniature pin ball machine or a Crow that frantically attacks its enemy causing the enemy to scurry around in fear. What doesn't his passive Interact more with the Crows he so terribly uses in game that has caused fear in many men. Why does Fiddlesticks not slay foes down after they have succumb to the terror of the Crows with his Unearthly Scythe.
Fiddlesticks embodies the motionless of a Scarecrow in his low mobility and the stationary of his kit but very poorly brings to life the fear of Crows and the use of his Unearthly Scythe. A weapon that is commonly used in representation of a grim reaper that originally and accurately is used to cut down tall grass. The Crows are bound and tied to the champion that does not live up to date with the current game. Fiddlesticks Q "Terrify" has no counter play with being instant cast and Really does not show off Fear and his E "Dark Wind" is a "A wisp of wind" that takes the form at a crow and bounces at enemies like a Pin ball. His passive is god awful and literally brings the true meaning of passive to passive in this game. Instead of empowering the fear of Crows and Fiddlesticks itself, it merely reduces MR by a mere 10 points for 2.5 seconds that will reapply upon dealing magic damage or casting terrify.
Fiddlesticks Dread is a simple allocation of stats. It no where synergizes with his kit increasing fear among his targets or the power of his kit but simply reduces Magic resist instead of drawing in to his lore or the theme of his kit at anyway with the Fear of the Crows. Couldn't his passive empower his terrify or his other abilities in forms of longer duration spells or slowing power when the said Champion(s) afflicted have reached a certain level of fear?
Aside from a gameplay aspect. Fiddlesticks is another champion that could use a visual update as well. Going as far to add more lines of dialogue to the "scary" Scarecrow. Where is his scary and epic howls of laughter that was shown in the "A Twist of Fate" or the very Creepy atmosphere he can bring but instead does not. https://youtu.be/tEnsqpThaFg?t=36s
As for why Fiddlesticks isn't getting larger work, Statikk explained:
Fiddle is also a champion we considered, but ultimately felt wasn't the right fit. To do a quick rundown on our perception: Distinct - Fiddle is extremely distinct on the roster. Playing as and against him offer unique experiences. Cohesive - Fiddle is decent in terms of cohesiveness. He has a somewhat niche thematic as a terrifying scarecrow, but it's understandably cool. It could probably be pushed a bit further especially in terms of the satisfaction from all his base spell (Drain, Terrify, and Dark Wind). Healthy - This is debatable, but Fiddle is certainly not the largest health problem in the game. Tactically, his spells' gameplay could probably be more robust in terms of interactivity (counterplay). Strategically though, there are many ways to deal with Fiddle whether through vision, knockbacks, stuns, etc. Fiddle is certainly a bit dusty and old-feeling, but that means he may be more in need of a visual / polish pass more than anything. It's not like he wouldn't benefit with some more significant work, but he's a champion that we feel can be a put in a decent spot even with just some minor number tweaks
"but he's a champion that we feel can be a put in a decent spot even with just some minor number tweaks"
Please no. Simply buffing numbers to any champion as old as Fiddlesticks who does not live up to date and properly show off what he musters is not the way to go. With no disrespect, that is a very cheap way imo almost lazy thing to do to any champion the requires an update. Simply buffing Taric's numbers could resolve his viability. The issue isn't their Viability but how they reflect and interact with their kit and design. Fiddlesticks like many others, lack in that area. He isn't in a state of shambles but does require an update some time down the road. Not as big and dramatic as some visual updates but more gameplay aspect but a Visual update would be nice and much appreciated. So I ask of Riot to take into more consideration of Fiddlesticks and in terms of fun and interactive, cool and fair game play with counter play and incredibly rewarding kit besides Teleport and flashing into an enemy team, fear one target, Throw a pin ball, then turning into a Gold Statue very quickly to avoid being bursted down or knocked away as fast as he came in to the fight.
but made tenacity masteries and mercury treads an almost given.
was often favored during those times.
whose game play pattern is quite possibly even worse before his 20th something rework.
/etc or bursted by champs like

and it really did help when I ganked. Gave me that extra slow to get the full Drain duration off but....For the team I get
only to help with the warding. Its a trade off that I have been doing hopefully for the greater good of the team. But has it be going great may be another story. I can have a wards down and Lee Sins run through it and bot or mid will stay over pushed.
Runic Echoes getting nerfed. Its hurting Fiddlesticks power due to champs such as Udyr/Sejuani/Gragas/etc being so high on the tier list its affecting fiddlesticks. Please at least compensate some of the item nerfs for Fiddlesticks that is so crucial for him. When Runic Echoes was added it greatly helped Fiddlesticks but now with the nerfs it will make him fall behind other junglers that he already is so behind on.
