What the heck are you doing to Garen?
Now AD pen runes nerf... he can't win the lane if built 5x defensive items... The villain mechanic is only his hope to be strong due to gold bounty and true damage.
Jesus, please buff his early stats... or something makes him glory again!

Chamuel851 votesNo, the reason they don't follow gold and lower is because Gold and lower have a higher chance of losing because they don't understand some of the more critical or advanced aspects of the game. This would skew the results a lot giving really unimportant information as because who knows why garens in low elo win? Not their build probably.
It's an irrespective sample set. Might as well ask 15 year olds what being an adult is like. I've literally watched a lot of Kayle ADC wins. That doesn't mean that they really represent Kayle ADCs (I'm silver btw)
GULAG 4 U1 votesI know why they don't follow gold and lower. My point is with a super small sample size, it's not very representative of anything, it's only valid for popular champions (So for unpopular ones such as Urgot or Aatrox their stats don't mean shit)

Second off, I said OPgg's stats were unaccurate for unpopular champions, because they are so small that it doesn't mean shit. It's not about where the players are, it's about where are hte champions popular (in theory).

NovaDisk1 votesI wouldn't really trust the Plat+ Games completely either... The typical Garen build on Champion.gg is usually something like Sunfire > Cleaver or vice versa. This is a very generic build that is only effective up to about mid-Plat then it drops off hard.
Garen, more than any other champ, needs to build differently in each game, because if you build even slightly wrong you are completely useless in brackets higher than mid-Plat.
Need Armor and Health? You have to choose between Sunfire, Randuin's, or Dead Man's. Pick the wrong one and you lose the game.
Need boots? You have to choose between Tabi, Mercs, or Swifties. Pick the wrong one and you lose the game.
Oh yeah, you also have to decide in the lane phase.

I always take 14 AD pen for Garen because they underestimate Garen's bad early and his level Q is already strong as 1.4x ad ratio. Most of time opponent buys armor.
During late game, 14 AD pen does help with his spinning.
I just always had good result with 14 AD pen compare to AD or scaling runes.
Now I need to test other than AD pen and Ad runes on Garen. ;\

Therefore... lethality runes is not effective until at level 10.
Of course only if Garen player did a well job at the early phase... Right now Garen is too harshly weak at early and late game.

Basically get 9% CC and 10% cdr runes included scaling hp and mr.
IF everything sucks then I will get flat AD runes to farm until jungler or level 11. Yeah that sounds like coward plan but honestly Garen is hitting the bottom of rework hell.

After multiple games... included other modes.
I found decent rune but little weak but improve the early.
9x % ad red 9x % hp yellow 6x flat 5% CDR blue 3x % CDR blue 3X 4.5% MS brown
as at level 18 as 216HP, 10% CDR, 22 AD, 4.5 MS.
Q against most champion W or E against hard champion like Riven, Vayne, etc.
Q>E>Q>W >maximum Q
Why? better CDR meant more damage from Q.
The problem is E is weaker, not clear or push the wave quickly until BC or level 9. No more blue % MR runes. I need more time to test against mage. SO try to farm well to improve Garen's E resistance.
