I was playing Azir and i was wondering what should i buy to get health from the sand soldiers attacks . life steal or spel vamp? And what should i buy to add slow effect to the sand soldiers attacks , frozen mallet or iralya's crystal scepter? And does Liandry's torment work with the attacks? spirit of the elder lizard? I would try it my self if i wasn't too busy to do it :P
Varnoc2 votesThe basic attack of Sand Soldiers is considered a spell, therefore it applies Spell Vamp, Ryali's Slow, and Liandrie's burn. It does not, by the same token, apply on-hit effects like Nashors, SotEL (specifically says physical damage, which your W attacks do not to, SotW would be better for jungle), Frozen mallet, BotRK, Lifesteal, etc.
It is, for all intents and purposes, an AOE magic damage spell, despite being based on an AA timer.

Narsicus1 votesAn important point to make here I think is to mention that since they are coded as aoe spells they get reduced effect from many spell enhancing effects.
So while I can get behind Rylai's slowing attacks the 1/3rd effect of spell vamp just isn't worth it imo, even if you are attacking for 300 damage per hit a WotA will only be healing for 20.
