How to buff Veigar with the removal of DFG

It is without question that item 3128 was one of Veigar's main items, and with its removal he will be hit hard. Riot has already stated that they are working on buffing him, so I have an idea on how to make this possible, while not making him even more cancerous to play against.

It is apparent that Veigar's identity is his 5 man stun, and his massive single target burst. "BUT RITO" you ask. How can you buff such a champion without making him completely unfun. Well to answer this question we must first analyze Veigar's weaknesses. As many of you know, Veigar is one of the very few infinite scaling champions in the game, which means he starts off weak. The main reasons for this are: -His extremely short range -His massive mana problems

So, obviously due to Veigar, wanting to farm until he reaches his mid game power spike this leaves him with some problems. He either gets bullied out of lane being unable to q farm due to his lack of range, or he cant harass the enemy back enough and farm due to his mana problems early game. But this is also what makes him BALANCED! other champions can scale up to the late game and still have great early games and mobility such as Zed. Veigar, however lacks mobility, range, and sustain. He does, however, make up for it in burst, AOE, and great utility. In order to buff Veigar, you cant remove his weaknesses, less we get another Syndra. In order to make up for his loss you have to make his strengths worth his struggle to get them. So here are my proposed changes to make Veigar, a healthy yet balanced champion.

Passive: Equilibrium - Every time Veigar kills an enemy unit he gains a stack that gives him 5% increased magic damage, but take 5% increased magic damage. These stacks last for 6 seconds and stack up to 5 times.

Note: This passive change is only if they decided to change Veigar a lot and make him more interesting and rewarding while still offering counter play

Now onto the simple, yet real changes

Q: Baleful Strike- Baleful Strike gives 10/20/30/40/50% of the mana cost back if it kills an enemy unit.

W: Dark Matter- No changes

E: Event Horizon- No changes

R: Primordial Burst- Mana cost lowered to 100/ 125/150 from 125 / 175 / 225. Cooldown Increased to 150 / 130 / 110 from 130 / 110 / 90

Context: Passive: Veigar needs something can will help him burst, but at a cost. This makes his laning phase scarier, but more complicated. This makes him require a bit more thinking as to when hes going to when, and when hes going to farm.

Q: While Veigar needs to maintain his current mana problems, he needs some compensation for losing his mana regeneration passive. This wont restore much mana at first, but at max rank will make his q farming much more reasonable.

W: I think Veigar's W is fine. A long delay for a lot of damage

E: Veigars E is already so amazing I dont think touching it would be wise

R: Veigar's ultimate mana cost was a little ridiculous at 225 at max rank! But with some of his other changes I fell his ult needs to have an increased CD so he cant just burst every time he comes into lane.

veigar doesn't need buffs for dfg removal, people bandwagoning like the champ isn't going to be able to one shot people anyways are deluded

srsly , ive seen pleeeenty of veigars that don't even build dfg keep one shotting people just fine , ahri needs changes because she WAS balanced around DFG , but veigar has NEVER been balanced due to dfg, in fact veigar has been pretty balanced for most of this games lifespan with a few exceptions but hell be fine , he still has ult drop combo to one shot people with on a 2 second stun , that's all you need

Ahri, has sustain, mobility, longer range, good CC and already a 20% increased damage for 6 seconds on her charm. She defiantly wasnt completely balanced around DFG. While Veigar may not revolve around it, it was an item he always rushed and needed to burst non APs early and mid game. I didnt say he needed DFG to one shot people anywhere in that post, but removing it hurts him A LOT. Plus, I think he needed changed even before its removal.

Veigar is pretty medicore pick, and most of veigar players actually used this item because it had highest synergy with his burst out of every item in the game. I don't know why you don't want him buffed at all and you like Ahri buffs and I don't really care. I like this champ and I build DFG on him, I will welcome ANY BUFFS (even minor ones).

STEP 1: GIVE HIM HIS LAUGH BACK WHEN HE KILLS WITH HIS ULT

Riot will probably up his ratios or put dmg% amp on his E and call it a day. Personally I think simple buffs are best for simple champs. Veigar 1hit dead combo must feel satisfying.

I think Veigar must maintain his 1 hit KO kit, but I think while looking at him, its possible to make him a more interesting champion, much like they did with trist and her E.

If they want to make him more interesting they will have to make serious adjustments to his stun. If you have enough experience with Veigar it's essentially a massive range 1.5-2.5s point and click stun that sometimes catches other enemies in it.

The stun is already an interesting ability, but its not necessarily point and click. Especially against enemies like Zed and Leblanc, who can simply jump over the wall. Its fairly hard to always spawn the wall directly on top of people, and if anything, they should only reduce the duration the walls last.

As someone who mains Veigar whenever I play mid, I feel a need to word in on this particular subject, and there is no doubt the removal of DFG will hit Veigar particularly hard.

In my own personal opinion, I think that perhaps instead of upping base stats, base damage or scalings, perhaps his stacking ability should be buffed a slight bit? Say, give him 3 AP for siege minions and large monsters instead of 2, less CD on the early ranks of his Q, ect. The mana-back on the Q you suggested would definitely be a welcome change with me too.

As for the ultimate... I don't feel the mana-cost is that excessive. It's a powerful ability, it wouldn't be cheap to cast. Also, nerfing his ult's cooldown would probably hit him way harder than you'd think. He relies on his ult a lot in the mid-game, and making the CD even longer would not help him one bit, and would kinda encourage him to... passively farm the whole game. Although, the suggestion for his passive would discourage him from farming as well, precisely because most mid-laners outrange him. I think it'd be more a nerf to him than a buff, despite Veigar's own damage. (Although, in the case of a physical champion, this passive would make life hell for them. Which may or may not be what you actually want from it.)

This is my own personal opinion at least.
