Thoughts about base stats/scaling and class/subclass
Hey Riot, I think the class based updates are a great direction and help make each game feel different from the others. I feel that base stats could use a pass over eventually as well, to bring champions more in line with their class/subclass in the future (whenever class/subclass become more concrete terms as far as champion balance and design are concerned). I also feel that runes could use some looking at for some future preseason.
Here's a look at what I think makes sense from a stat/scaling to class/subclass relation (some things mentioned are already present in game)
Ranged champions should have less durability than melee champions in general. Ranged champions should have slower base movement speed than melee champions in general. Champions that are meant to be durable should have higher base HP, Ar and Mr than other champions, and should likely have high base damages, and low scaling. This incentivizes them to build tank items as opposed to damage items Champions that have high scaling on their abilities should have lower base damages to compensate. This incentivizes them to build damage items as opposed to tank items. (Avoiding Ekko Syndrome)
Ex. Tank Durability. Highest Base damage. Highest Ability Scaling. Lowest Mobility. Low CC. High
Fighter Durability. High Base damage. High Ability Scaling. Low Mobility. Medium CC. Low
Slayer Durability. Low Base damage. Lowest Ability Scaling. Highest Mobility. Highest CC. Lowest
Mage Durability. Medium Base damage. Medium Ability Scaling. High Mobility. Lowest CC. Medium
Controller Durability. Medium Base damage. Medium Ability Scaling. Medium Mobility. Medium CC. Highest
Marksmen: Durability. Lowest Base damage. Low Ability Scaling. Medium Mobility. High CC. Medium
Not really sure as far as what stats should be attributed to what class, this is just a rough idea I have on what the relation of strengths and weaknesses is to classes (obviously subclasses change things alot, like juggernauts should be the most immobile for example)
