"You are guaranteed one of your selected roles"

I see this message when I am in promos. I was queuing for bot/mid at the time, and during my promos I played 2 games, 1 bot & 1 mid. So I found it to be an odd message, because on that account I had never NOT received one of my 2 roles. I always got bot or mid, whether in promos or not.

Now I played on my main account for the first time in almost a year, and the first game I got put in as support. Now it's possible I made a mistake, but I was pretty sure I queued with a bot/mid preference, which brings me to my questions.

Is it possible to actually not get one of your selected roles? Can you queue bot/mid and get put into a game as a support? I was under the impression you always got one of your selected roles, so I don't quite understand what that message means.

Autofill is a thing that is activated when queue times are too long, and means anyone can be filled in any role when active. Those who recently queued as support or fill are immune, as are those who are in promo series.

From 6.23 onwards, it appears it'll be always on, instead of only when queue times are too long. It's possible that's a behind the scenes switch they've already switched instead of only turning on with 6.23.

Ah well I suppose that is good to know, I had no idea. I had removed my support rune pages and was a little surprised hehe. Luckily someone was nice enough to switch with me that game, but I suppose I should have a champ for each role from now on like the good old days.
