Real Talk: What Nautilus "THEME" is and how can it be used to help his gameplay.
Let's be honest here: Nautilus is not doing so well right now. He been falling behind with every change in the jungle in Season 4 and testing in the PBE has been showing that Nautilus is falling even more.
Nautilus is "supposed" to be the CC tank. High HP and defense that allows him to survive but have low damage to prevent him from being overpowered. And for the most part this is true. When late games comes and Nautilus has all his items, this is achieved.
HOWEVER! This is also Nautilus problem: Early game, his needs to farm in the jungle and in the jungle CC means NOTHING to the camps. You think the Golem, The Murkwolves, Red Brambleback, The Dragon, or BARON to care that they are slowed? No. They are going to laugh as they ripped you apart cause you are doing little damage to them.
Now the simple thing would be to increase his damage, but that to is a problem. Nautilus has CC..lots of CC. Put to much damage on top of that and you get the next Lee Sin.
So what can be done for Nautilus? We need to rework his Theme into his kit, but what is his theme? I don't know about you but when I think about this walking diver suit I think of 1 thing: WEIGHT
Nautilus has this feeling of heaviness. His walk, his voice, his joke, his attacks, his entire character is about Weight and using it against his enemies. Even his back story has this feeling. It reads as such:
Only moments after he donned the hulking diver's suit and climbed over the ship's rail, something lurking in the muck grabbed hold of him. He clung to the side of the ship, but the thing below pulled him fiercely, rocking the entire ship. The other sailors grew afraid and made a terrible decision. As he stared and pled for help, they wrenched his grip free of the rail. He tumbled into the ink, grabbing the anchor in futile desperation. Dark tendrils enveloped him and he could do nothing but watch as the dimming outline of his ship faded away. Then everything went black.
Being pulled in, not being able to pull free of it. Being weighted down not only by this thing, but by his very suit and anchor. This feeling of weight can help Nautilus be better in the jungle and help him become that true late game tank.
How? In my personal opinion: A new passive. Now I am not saying this is the best idea and it should be done, but I do feel this is on the right track to helping this champ. Now the passive I have thought of is called **Crushing Weight: Enemies near Nautilus are slowed by 10%. Nautilus abilities do increase damage based on how slowed the targets are. **
Now the first part help with his theme. Just being near Nautilus the enemies can feel that same tendrils pulling at them, preventing them from escaping just like Nautilus was pulled in by it. And the second part helps with the jungle. With a constant slow from his passive, and the slow from his skills, his damage increases to allow him to better deal with the jungle camps to help him fight/escape/chase the other jungler.
Edit: His current passive can be move as a passive to his Q. And by leveling it up, it reduces the cooldown of Staggering Blow. That way one can have a choice. Either level Q for more single target damage or level E for more AOE.
Now again this is my personal opinion on what Nautilus theme is and how it can be use to better help him. Now let start the talk:
What do you think Nautilus theme is? Do you think his current kit fits it? What would you change about him to better fit what your idea of Nautilus is?
.
etc.) means that Naut not only has trouble clearing camps but also is easy pickings for more powerful duelists.
does the exact same thing, but better since her hook goes through minions.
Top lane? With what sustain, especially against ranged foes who hide behind minions?
Mid lane? Hey, AP Naut isn't bad. His ratios make him fall off hard late game though, and being a melee mage is generally not a good idea.
to try and help out our sustain, but it doesn't seem to be worth it when the enemy

, he was my main jungler back in season 3, but season 4 made him unplayable...I really hope it won't be the same with the next season.

will always deal respectable damage regardless of whether he builds any damage at all. Same goes for
. Inflicts good damage with or without damage items.
