Just being honest here. I am glad they are finally working on him, but I know it is going to take a while.

Still waiting for Ao Shin. Oh but wait Yorick will dig out Ao Shin from the Dragon's Cave and Trist will check it out with her skin. [zombie-brand-mindblown]

I got that :P

I dunno why I found it so funny

It's the awkard movement of the arm, and the elephant in the room; whenever someone circlejerks about aoshin, you know they have a fair amount of burnt brain cells.

Void Nargacuga5 votes

True, on it taking awhile, but I thought that was funny after seeing your burn. So I felt like being funny. [slayer-jinx-wink]

EDIT: Those who have downvoted me I was talking about this burn.

I'm tempted to leave one of two links... Not sure which would make more people lose their minds... Tough decision.

Why not both?

Just remember... You asked for this.

Good luck.

SEIZURE WARNING! In the name of Demacia!

NOTE: I just keep the second one on a separate tab and just listen to it.

Second video should be taken down or given a seizure warning..

I am glad they are finally working on him

They should have started and prioritized his rework the moment they decided to take him out of champion rotation.

Completely forgetting him? Now that's just disrespecting your own work.

ForeverLaxx8 votes

Consider both Evelynn and Karma. These champions were taken out of rotation and stayed out for a very long time, especially Evelynn. Riot didn't "forget" about doing this, they do it for a certain reason. This reason? It's going to sound conspiratorial, but the evidence supports that they're removed so Riot can justify completely ruining some core identity to their design/character with data showing how infrequently they're played and how so many people don't even know what said champion can do. At least, this was their justification for Karma's changes.

Yorick is in a unique position with this dilemma though. Unlike Karma who was built around the concept of duality and calculated aggression (something she no longer has any relation to), Yorick's main identity was the concept of a minion summoner that didn't work because Riot doesn't have a proper interface/programming to allow true control of minions. So Yorick's "minions" ended up just being vessels for spell effects, and not much else.

What does this mean for Yorick? Well, it means that if they actually try to stick to their constant promises of "keeping the same concept" for these reworks (which usually doesn't work, or they focus on the wrong concept idea that they made up one morning), there's not really any mechanics that need to be kept. About the only thing people would really be upset about with a Yorick rework is if he completely abandons the notion of being a minion summoner, if Riot decides to turn him into a mage instead of a bruiser, or they replace his Ult with something else entirely.

Now, that doesn't change why Riot removed him from rotation (to skew data in their favor for drastic change), but at least in Yorick's case, it shouldn't actually hurt his identity too much. Well, at least not as badly as Karma was, at any rate.

if you wanna have fun playing a 2 champs in 1, cough, i mean MOV SPEED Quinn

champs update team "we'll preserve what you love, promise"... unless what you love is what we want to remove

ForeverLaxx3 votes

Pretty much. I do like all the downvotes I got for pointing out trends and facts, though. Can't speak ill of the almighty Riot unless it's whatever everyone else is deciding is in vogue to be upset over.

Maybe if I put more bits about Lee Sin or Zed in there.

The Champion Update team has grown much larger since the Sion Rework. It's worth mentioning that Tristana/GP were technically full VGU's (New model/vo/anims/gameplay.) Although Trist/GP didn't need as much work on there core themes and gameplay as Sion/Poppy did, they were still very similar is scope/time.

While Yorick is currently planned for sometime after the "mid-year" mage update, barring some huge catastrophe, he should be released before 2017.

2ManyJons5 votes

I still don't understand why Trist and GP (who were perfectly fine) and other champs like Fiora and Sion, the Juggernauts...ect got their reworks ahead of Yorick. Yorick has been off of free rotation since I started playing league. I had never even saw a Yorick until I actually paid the IP to unlock him just so I could see how he worked. I would think a champion you cannot even play due to his debilitated state would be something you'd work on before the "Well, some pro's like these champs, better make em pretty for the LCS." champs.

lightdragoon8818 votes

Cause their kits were either already there or required little extra changes. Yorick needs to be reworked from the ground up and will take time.

Think of it this way, they can either:

A) Work on Yorick for 1 year before touching the others that would take 1 month each to finish, thus taking them 1 year before we see anything from them

or

B) Work on the champs that will only take 1 month to finish WHILE working on Yorick so we can see something new every month or 2?

Fader Sorg2 votes

Oh, c'mon! That's a very unfair comparison. For a company of Riots size, it obviously wouldn't take a whole year to finish the rework. It has to do with priorities, nothing else. They're releasing champions every few months, but for some reason the rework of Yorick would take A WHOLE YEAR? Besides, they can have multiple teams working on different champions at the same time... you're really underestimating their resources. Besides, your two points (A and B) are basically saying the same thing but for some reason point A doesn't allow the reworks of other champions... your post makes no sense.

DGFeliax3 votes

Keep in mind that Yorick is being reworked from the ground up, that's like replacing Yorick with a brand new champion. A new champ takes anywhere from 6 months to 3 years (like Kindred or Ao Shin) to make.

Fader Sorg1 votes

That depends on how you use your time. It's not like they've been working on Kindred non-stop for 3 years... people seems to be confused by this.

lightdragoon882 votes

You seem to be confused in thinking they just work on the first thing they think of and make it fully playable and released within 1 month.

Strawberrycocoa2 votes

God, I remember when I first started, they had a new champion every two weeks. O_o

And his first new skin will come two years later.

FrankerX8 votes

finally. the promise was made in 2015 and im hyped.

rito if you fuck up taric im done with you he deserves better! he is great

Meep Man4 votes

Actually they discussed his rework and even started on it, if Im correct, back in late 2013... around Xerath's rework since both I think were announced around the same time to be happening.

Jeddy0177 votes

Judging by the fact they added him to the list now,I say early 2017 if we're being realistic. If we're being optimistic, then late 2016.If we're being pessimistic, then yeah 2018.

sp4411 votes

My bet is at the end of 2016.

Why? Because the same thing happened with Poppy and Sion.

Jungle Lux God1 votes

Yorick needs a full rework, and Taric has already been confirmed as the next big rework. Yorick won't come out at the end of 2016 because that is when Taric will most likely come out, and because of that Yorick will likely come out in 2017.

Edit: I stand corrected guys.

GreenLore3 votes

The thing is that Tarics rework was done alongside Poppys rework, probably because Tarics rework was originally not meant to be that big. Meaning that they worked on 2 big reworks simultaneously, which means it is likely that they started with Yorick after they finished poppy

MegaManYYZ6 votes

Mage update is this year so I would guess the end of this year or sometime early next year.

kaltenashes5 votes

they already said it was after taric's rework, so its also after mage's update, probably @ september-ish

I was always a fan of Yorick from his release, but his viability really made it hard to play him in any meta.

I basically said "F**K it" last season and got him to rank 5 mastery and above playing him as a top laner/jungler in ranked. Won some games, lost some.

What really drew me into him was his ultimate. Honestly, when you look at just his ultimate, not his basics, I think its one of the best ultimates in the game. Because its on Yorick and 70% of the player base doesn't even know he exists, nobody knows what it even does. I literally have to tell my ADC "No, don't run away if you die with my ult, go fight, its not a Zilean ultimate!" Its great for splitpushing and taking towers too.

I think thematically he's great. The Gravedigger, Yorick Mori. Busts his ass on the Shadow Isles doing the dirty work. An every man. He definitely needs his background fleshed out a little more, but I hope he doesn't change much. His voice acting is also some of the best in the game, in my opinion. Its a shame he doesn't have more lines. Go listen to it (because you've probably never heard it before), tell me it doesn't sound awesome. It fits him perfectly.

His problem really lies in his basic abilities. They lack oomph. There's no real skill or thought involved in using them other than blocking skillshots with his W, that's the best. Blocking a blitzgrab or Ahri charm with his ghoul is badass. His passive makes him more of a juggernaut in my opinion, and I hope that's where Riot takes his rework.

I have faith though, I know Riot will treat Mr. Mori right. Yorick
