It has done nothing to balance the game. At best, a nerfed champion isn't seen for a few months and it lets another champ who hasn't been nerfed for awhile take the spotlight. At worst, you nerf a champion so hard that it's never seen again for more than a year. Maybe try BUFFING WEAKER CHAMPIONS FOR ONCE? And no, reducing a mana cost by 20 and buffing a base damage by 15 isn't a fix. Please stop listening to "omg x champ is op" posts.
They need to buff other champions to the "OP" champions' level.
I think you're slightly missing the point of champion nerfs.
It's easy to get stuck in the mindset that champions are always geting nerfed and never getting buffed, so it's a cycle of eternally weakening champions. But that's a little skewed, because it ONLY takes into account the base attributes of champions. It doesn't consider itemization changes that happen, or slight tweaks to even minions, or even how they compare to other champions with respect to how those same changes affect them. It's not about "nerfing a champion into the ground," as you may think. Itemizations especially may not change the champion itself but combined with specific kits create an entirely different environment on which to play.
This is exactly the case with WarWick who is seeing extreme success even in high level play despite previously being nonexistent. It's not necessarily about a champion becoming OP because others are nerfed; it's mostly a result of changes that weren't even focused on specific champions.
I don't like buffing others to their point, because it becomes "Who can kill eachother 3 seconds the fastest before the other can get their abilities off"
Then the game becomes an element of surprise, which turns into stealth meta.
Honestly, No buffs needed, nerf the REALLY top tier champions, like the top 20. Lee Sin, Syndra, Riven, Jayce, Nidalee, etc.
Champs like Sejuani don't need the boot, but these do.
Agreed. However, because of it this comic is 100% true. And although different games, dota does a mix. Buff the unplayed, and nerf the OVERLY played. However, in a dota patch there are usually more buffs than nerfs
