What do you think of crit's place in the game?

There's been discussion surrounding it regarding toxicity, etc. What do you think and why?

@Riot: What internal "feelings" / discussion do you have regarding this stat? How would this end be achieved?

I just want to get a feel for how complicated this must be. I know little regarding coding or balancing but from what I DO know, it seems like it must be a nightmare. Would be good to know how much work would be involved with something like this.

I feel it is a badly designed necessity.

Right now, it's the very reason why AD Carries exist (Tanks have 2 multipliers for example - Health and Armor. Carries have three (ignoring armor pen) - AD, Attack Speed, and Critical Chance). Due to the fact that competitive games generally must have an end, this necessitates that offense (Carries) must eventually out scale defense. Thus, it makes sense that Carries have access to an extra multiplier.

What makes it badly designed is that it still runs on chance. There are a million reasons to keep either Critical Strikes or a system similar to Critical Strikes in the game, but the fact that it's chance based as it is now, this just opens up a titanic can of worms.

I like crit on champs like Gangplank for fun games. What I think the rela problem is, is armor ignoring items. Why even pick a tank when you'll get shred anyways? If your team doesnt do well you just wasted a game. I almost feel obligated to pick asassins everywhere and hope I pull off Faker style mechsnics and smash their adc and at least another target before I meet my end or back off
