[Discussion]: Tracker's Knife (Smitestone)

So with the recent nerfs to Trinket Wards (Duration decreased to 2 minutes from 3) & Control Wards (Can only carry up to 2 of them instead of 3), I would like to propose two questions to both the Community & the Balance Team.

  • Would anyone be opposed in bringing back the Tracker's Knife (aka Smitestone) jungling item?

  • If it were brought back in some compacity, how do you think it would affect the game?

I think the reasoning for removing it was that it gave junglers too much map awareness and synergized too well with almost everyone that wasn't a duelist. Personally I think it's too strong with people like Jax and Lee Sin who are already really strong at low elos. I wouldn't be opposed to having more jungle items but I don't think Tracker's Knife has a balanced place in League at the moment.

I still don't know why Riot took away Junglers' warding agency. Probably because of high-level play, but in most Solo Q games you just have to pray that your support wards because you can't afford to go around a Yellow Trinket.

Junglers in pro play would use it to get extra vision and if a jungler went for red or blue smite they'd put their team at a disadvantage so it was really problematic for pro play

I think if the wards gave low radius vision but were traps with the same radius (a bit like ghost poro but invisible and when they get stepped on they give true sight for some amount of time, slow and dealt like 20-100 damage. I think making them into traps that lee and jax can still jump to is a good way to go, especially since they'd probably be garbage in pro play.
