Can Taric get some buffs?

The Great Duck··19 votes·1,389 views

All of his spells cost 60 mana, and his mana regen is absolute trash. His E is pretty unreliable without a jungler's help since a marksman easily out-ranges the length and again, mana issues: his sustain isn't even good. Even Lulu ends up being effectively a lot tankier with a much fatter shield and reliable, hard cc.

But really, give the man some fucking buffs. He is simply not worth playing in his state when I can play other supports that do his job 10x better. His kit is wonderful and very unique, but his numbers suck ass.

He needs to be rewarded for being active in lane. At the moment you're heavily punished for really doing anything with your skills because of his absurd mana situation, so lane boils down to running in circles waiting for mid game to begin.

In theory, he can pull off an insane combo item 3107 item 3190 ULT for massive 6 second invulnerability window but I have never gotten it to work properly. Maybe with Sivir or Kled it might work but I have not seen either in a long time.

Not to mention Taric himself. Where are you people?

That's the massive issue with these mega ults - they're so powerful IN THEORY, but you only get those sort of ults 5% of the time. It hogs the power budget and is ultimately really unsatisfying :l

I rarely have this Issu but I do practice him a lot. Follow these steps it should help.

  • Wait for the enemy to engage
  • Try stunning the high damage champs on the other side also if you can take a couple skill shots from the enemy team instead of your carry do it.
  • Use all your shields and heals (Items too) but do try keeping maybe redemption if you can.
  • Ult (The exact time where you ult can vary i usely go for the instant that I stun the enemy team but you can do it earlier if things are going sour.

So This should give you the window of opportunity to ult while not having the enemy team flee and rendering your ult useless. Of course if the enemy is really fed this will probably won't work. Also, all these steps must be done in like a second or two.

Yeah, no. Whenever I try to do anything the enemy deals 2000+ damage in under 2 seconds.

So someone dies, and everyone backs off during the invincibility.

Well...

I really loved the guy pre-rework and i'm still fine with him now, but I stopped using him VS 3+ AD teams because while i do feel tanky in the early mid-game with my items choices (HP + armor), right after laning phase, I quickly get shred back to low levels of tankyness once the first pen items are completed. Unlike Leona / Braum / Alistar with their in-built resistances he's fully dependant on items to get his tankyness, but still has a support income.

Now I only pick him VS 3+ AD teams with melee engaging supp (they want to come to you and then you outbrawl them easily) so at least i don't have to cope with a weak laning phase. He can get a kill on harrassing supports, but only once they pushed the whole lane to his turret and positionned badly enough to get stunned.

Plus a few things i put on another post here.

Taric's ult is easily best ult of ANY support in the game, so I don't think he needs a buff.

If you play him in Solo Q no one knows how to use it... Pretty sure they'll run away as soon as you ult.

I've literally never seen anyone run away, I see his teammates scramble to get the effect.

Well I'm exaggerating. But in Solo Q nobody is coordinated enough to use it properly.

However in solo Q peoples walking patterns are more linear and predictable (In Gold at least), work with that especially when you try stunning from your allies!

The irony - we just had a thread where quite a few posters said that Taric was currently the most balanced champ. (And he's 53% winrate in Plat+.) Heck, I wouldn't mind seeing some changes myself - but there you go...

Personally, I would wait for the Tank Update (next patch) before demanding any major tweaks. If you check the upcoming tank items, then Taric is going to be extremely relevant in about 2-3 patches. The armor and MR bumps those items give plus their passives - combined with the current Knight's Vow - will mean that you will need Taric in most team fights. Whoever he is guarding will be nearly invulnerable...

Of course, if someone is using Taric in lower ranks, then he'll be meh - but really, he is going to be v. good if the ADC and support know what they are doing.

That reminds me...I should start a Taric to Gold stream in the near future. :p

His mains problems IMHO are :

-1 Non interactivity. He has only one spell to interact with his ennemies (E). That's a super mega bad design and a big failure from his rework. Yeah, he has his passive that can deal tons of damage when it adds up. I don't care, anyone can aa in this game, most get more rewards for that since he's immobile and melee.

-2 Low impact skills (bar ultimate) with next to no scaling (every single one of them, a little less noticeable for the stun, especially noticeable for the heal). But that coud be fine : they're low impact because they're supposed to be spam-chained permanently (high cd higly reduced when weaved) to make him impossible to defeat in a sustained brawl. This is why he has high cds on all of his skills : because he's supposed to chain them, not rely on one maxed ability and keep the two others for utility / emergency purpose. I'm fine with that. But they fucked that up by limiting him with super high mana costs that drain him in no time.

I don't care how overpowered his ult can be, it's so full of counterplay (burst faster than 2,5 sec, disengage, cc them during the ult, or just scare them...) he deserves better than that. Right now his ult makes me think of the ohmwrecker active.

I agree on the mana issues but as for his E, it fits his play style. It's meant to protect more then engage. You're suppose to play him as a body guard. But with a little bit of practice and good timing you can manage to be agressive with it. The flash+e when they least expect it is always a fun time.

If he had a bit more mana regen, he could sustain heal more champs like brand zyra (debatable), brand and soraka (a smart/agressive one though you won't see that often) But he is far from being weak and giving him a better heal or shield would only make him op. He only has a small sustain issu atm from my perspective.

On that note, i might get the attention of Taric mains, does any of you know a good taric clan that still has some place for a new member?

And as always, Stay Outrageous Taric

What I'd do:

  • Mana back on AA with passive (maybe on champions only).
  • Increase baseline heal (by a good amount) numbers and just a bit of scaling, additional charges don't increase the heal but put a heal over time.
