@Riot The Real Reason People Don't Play Support

I find the role of support to be so reliant on their teammates to carry that as a support you feel extremely frustrated, let down, and useless/ unimpactful when your team is behind.

Most traditional support champs of a utility/ tank nature (bard, attic, Leona) lack an ability to carry, and as such, picking them with a solo queue team is like flipping the coin for the outcomes of your matches. There are a few champions that break this mold (lux, zyra, brand). These champions feel better to play as a support because that can still feel quite impactful if their team is behind just by their damage output.

Now I'm not implying that you should make all supports have this burst potential, but i feel that there should be something in place that allows support champs to become more impactful if their team is behind so that the support player can feel better/ less frustrated about playing support.

I play aggro Sona with item 3504 item 3174 combo, and so far I havent had any issues with my ADC or me falling too far behind, if at all.

Currently Tier 6 with one Tier 7 token, so Im not just talking out my southside.

Yeah, I'm a level 7 bard and know how to do support. But when the players on your team who output the damage just aren't able to, you are kind of screwed

Any and every support has the potential to substantially alter the course of the game for better or worse. Even if you're down all inhibs a smart and tactful support can turn even the hugest of tides. I think it's pretty silly to say that champs like Bard and Leona have little to no ability to pick their team back up from a seemingly lost game. Also, you don't always have to build pure support items. There are a lot of items to purchase that can help you and your team win games. It's not over till the nexus falls.

I understand what you are saying, but I seriously have had multiple matches in which I was supporting and even though I applied my Bard abilities to the fight, my team was still not able to get kills. It was embarrassing to have such a team, not to mention frustrating

I think that supports rely on the ADC and the vice versa in order to win. Yeah supports are needed in order to help out other mates in the game but ADC's need to not leave them in the dust and as well as the rest of the team when the early game ends.
