lets be honest here

who would actually still play league if every champion had simple kits? I see people say they miss the old simple times of league but who would actually want that to stay? I would find it very boring if every champ was built the same way, with 3 abilities that do only one thing, an ultimate and a simple passive. I know I would quit if that was the case, I find that very boring. yeah champions with a lot of things to there abilities can be hard to balance but all the stuff to learn and figure out is why I enjoy the game. I don't mind kits with a lot of stuff to them aslong as riot balances them(nice joke though amirite?). I couldn't see the game lasting as long as it has if every champion was just some boring simple kit. and before someone says something, I don't hate simple kits, I just like the complex ones to shake things up

I 100% would, and would like it more, simplicity and balance are gold. I don't need fancy crap, I'm a filthy casual. If I didn't like it I wouldn't have played pre season 1.

But hey opinions don't matter and riot agrees with fancy flashy stuff that 1 hit kills you.

Would people play? Of course they would, they would just complain about how boring it is, just like people did WHEN things were simple.

Some of the champions still have simple kits - thank goodness. Playing at a higher ping (esp since the server move to the Eastern side of the US), I have come to appreciate the simpler champs - without them, I would have a heck of a time playing the game. And to be honest, I still miss some of the simpler champs that used to exist - like the old Swain and the old Galio. The removal of them from the game are like I lost some dear friends.

I definitely would. Simple mechanical kits leads to more complex strategic games. The main draw of a moba like league from season 1 and 2 (as well as Dota before it) was the integration of micro and macro level play. Unfortunately, a lot of the macro and strategic play has been lost over the years with more and more champion kits being tailored to be able to fight into every situation.

There were criticisms of the game back then as well but boring is a term I rarely saw anyone use

There is a very very very big difference between “this champion is complex and has lots of neuionces to master” and wow this champion looks super hard and looks like they have a lot of outplay potential

Ryze/kayn can be the former Akali and aatrox are the latter

Ryze has endless combos that rely on him repeatedly hitting a very slow skillshot and sequencing his spells perfectly, and kayn has an extremely dinamic choice of plays as well as being highly skillshot reliant to be of any real use. Neither looks crazy flashy, or hard to play, but have an insane amount of depth.

Now there akali and aatrox. Akali is akali. She looks super flashy and hard to play, but in reality has only one mechanic that’s slightly difficult being shroud juggling for maximum duration. Aatrox is also the same. Look super flashy and hard to play. But if you hit even one potion of you q you are almost gaurenteed to hit the other two, and his e can make the first part of his q a 50/50

LOL isn't complex to begin with

OFF: Why is this downvoted? It's a reasonable discussion regarding particularities of the game.

On: I, for one, would continue playing. There must be a balance in the number of "complex kit champs" and "simple ones". Let's name a few "complex champs", I would say: Kalista, Draaaaven, Cassiopeia, Syndra. Some might say "what's so complex in these champs?" well it's my personal opinion, you're free to consider them easy. Let me name a few champs that I consider having "simple kits": Garen, Vladimir, Darius, Yi, Annie.

What the game would look like without the "complex" ones in my opinion? Dull, boring as you say. Lacking outplay possibilities. Rarely you see "amazink" clean plays with "easy" champs. I agree with you, the game would be boring and would feel like constraining, limited.

However, what the game would look like without the "easy" champs? Almost impossible for new players to learn the game. The learning curve would be so abrupt, they'd give up trying champs they struggle with. They need to have their options in champ select as well.

If some feel insecure playing with Vayne and Kai'Sa because those champs feel too risky, and prefer safer champs such as Ezreal, then they should be allowed to. This is why I feel like LOL, despite having over 150 champs, feels like lacking over half of its possibilities. Remember that LOL is not a game made ONLY for competitive, "pro" players. It should also suffice the casual players' needs. Not all of us are Fakers, Gosus, and Qtpies. Some of us are gold, like me, and I am so happy with my tier, I just don't wish to be higher since I am happy with what I am. I feel like this is where I like to be, I play my champions, some of them "complex", some of them "easy", and I am so happy with the game right now. I don't want to be diamond, to shine with "amazink" plays. And there are plentiful options for those who want that to do it. Some are bronzes, and they feel like the game is enough for them right there.

You say you like "complex" kits, and I appreciate you, you might be in the future the next streamer I watch to when I want to see amazing plays. If you feel like the game needs more of those champs, you should propose some ideas of your champs here! :D Remember that Rioters are also humans, they have their imagionation like you have yours. They need to take their time when creating a champ, to make sure it's balanced, not OP, not useless either, not a "straight counter to X", not a "straight countered by Y", and most importantly, unique. Sooo, my suggestion, speak out your mind! If you have ideas, write them down here!
