Why even keep first tower gold anymore tbh.

It's just kinda arbitrary.

It's to encourage players from endlessly farming in early game, I believe. The additional gold is an incentive for the players to take out the obstacles quicker (e.g. enemy champs) in order to nab extra $$$ from the first tower fallen.

Spank the Fox7 votes

Exactly, back in S3/4, it was far more beneficial to keep their tower up til 15-20 mins to keep the wave somewhat neutral for optimal farming.

I found this to be much more enjoyable.

Seconded.

I mean, taking a turret is a YUGE benefit. It opens up more gank opportunity, it relieves pressure on lane, allows for rotation and allows lanes to roam into the enemy jungle unimpeded.

The gold is just gravy. A vestige from a time when people wanted games to be short and individual play to be more impactful.

Prior to first blood tower, it was often optimal if you were winning top Lane hard to NOT take the tower. If your team wasn't losing just as hard elsewhere, by not taking the tower you could either deny your opponent 100% farm and XP by zoning him from minions and having kill threat on tower dives, allowing you to hugely snowball your lead and make them useless.

The reason this only applied to the outer tower was threefold: there were fewer directions for the enemy team to gank you from, you were close enough to your tower to survive a 3 man gank, and you were far enough from their base to make it cost them alot to send enough resources to stop you. The inner tower is too risky, it's really easy for jungle+mid+support to come to you when you're that over extended.

However with first blood tower, you're encouraged to take it for that bigger spike for your whole team AND deny the enemy bot Lane that same spike

They reverted it back to 300g topkek

Bear in mind that nothing on PBE is permanent. There was a post not too long ago going on about how the Mallet nerfs got reverted on PBE, but they came back later in the patch (albeit less heavy-handed than before) and made it to live.

Wow 100 gold. Like it matters when baron creeps are now immortal and siege minion oblidarate towers. Who takes baron wins the game or takes most of the towers and inhibs.

RenownedWheat421 votes

The baron buffs apply later in the game though don't they? So it's not really affecting the snowball.

T4underbolt1 votes

Ad and ap scale into late. DMG reduction on caster creeps and additional DMG on siege minion is right away at 20 minutes.

Marshbouy8 votes

100 g is actually a pretty big deal in LCS where people will flip shit about denying 1-2 creeps in the early game. It won't be a major difference in lower level play (by that I basically mean everything below challenger lol), but it's a start.

T4underbolt5 votes

I don't give a shit about LCS or challenger. Plus that change has been reverted on pbe.

InTheory3 votes

I mean LCS is actually the reason why we have first blood gold on towers in the first place. When all professional plays involved the early lane swapps to just trade both towers bottom and top within the first 6 minutes or so Riot invented the TFB and removed bottom lane fortification.

I lost hope for ever escaping snowball meta. Chinese and Koreans probably prefer it, it's better for LCS. We have so much dmg already and Riot is buffing stuff non-stop. I don't belive the #1 turret gold nerf will return

Kairoptra1 votes

We can’t say anything for sure. It’s not about hope, it’s about not jumping the gun. We don’t know what’s going on, so we should reserve judgement.

ThePikol1 votes

For how long? Because it has been months

Kairoptra1 votes

The fact remains that the changes were on PBE. If they were on PBE, there is a reasonable chance they will come back relatively soon. If they don’t in this patch, then you can go back to complaining. Again, remember Frozen Mallet.

lol it's already been reverted on pbe

Kairoptra1 votes

Again, my example. Nothing is necessarily “reverted” on PBE just because it’s not there. Everything on the PBE is tentative, so if something has been taken off, that doesn’t mean it’s gone forever. It might just pop up in the next cycle or even later on in this one.

The thing they can do is result to what they have built in champs which is a big ap scaling, in conclusion Ap crit should become a thing if mages are to trifle thier damage it’s seems dull to spam abilities when your damage becomes demolished

so you want people to not go for kills. you want the game to be a farm till late type of game. so you want assassins /bruisers to be useless. you want a meta of adc + waveclear + 3 supports... oh wait thats the current crappy game we have. snowballing isnt even bad compared to previous seasons. its just select items like duskblade that are retarded.

remove snowballing then there will be lower incentive to interact with the enemy. this is way the game is going down hill b/c riots staff is filled with people with this mindset it so sad tbh. just keep removing what is fun in the game.

if im better then you i deserve to snowball simple as that. if im 3/0/2 and you are 0/3/0 you deserve to get snowballed on. screw that i want to be rewarded for participating garbage you millennials have.

KennysDreamGirl2 votes

im not saying remove it completely. champs like Riven Pantheon rely on snowballing to be effective (panth moer than riven) but to much snowball is a bad thing and right now we have to much

skyfall6191 votes

we really dont if anything we dont have enough. currently we have so many things that prolong the game and with crap like stopwatch it only adds to it. now are there champs that are late game hyper carries and scale too fast when they get a slight advantage yes, that is what should be looked at and not snowballing.

if zeds get ahead he deserves it. if gp get 2 kills early he shouldnt become the monster he does from just that imo.

KennysDreamGirl2 votes

again, your ignoring what i said. i didnt say that snowball shouldnt exist. but the snowball we have now is almost impossible to come back from which shouldnnt be a thing

I would have loved to see the moment where you just were full of excitment and hope as you saw the patch notes to only get absolutely and utterly destroyed and leave only a shadow of what you felt a second ago on your face

That's disappointing. You shouldn't derive such pleasure from the suffering of others.

why not?

Don't tell me you never laughed at someone failing at something

The whole Mr.Beans series is based off someone failing at life dude, Charlie Chaplin used these techniques too

That is entirely different from someone being disappointed by a reverted change that is entirely outside their own control. Chaplin and Mr Bean did it for the sake of entertainment, the OP here on the other hand is experiencing something personal, and they most certainly aren't intending it to be for your entertainment.

You specifically stated that you would love to see their face the moment that their hopes were dashed. That sort of thing is sick and twisted because it is the end for which other people like yourself might use terrible means to reach.

nelogis1 votes

Have you ever seen a bad luck brian meme?

Ever laughed at it?

You think he wanted to take that picture to entertain everyone?

It's like your friend just slipped off a banana, he didn't want to entertain anyone but it still was funny.

God dammit dude

HalcyonDweller1 votes

The difference with memes is that people are laughing at the context provided within the meme. It doesn't matter if the picture were of Brian or some cartoon, the point of it is to laugh at the idea of bad luck, not specifically the person depicted in the image. Not to mention people usually post memes with jokes about their own experiences, rather than others.

The difference with slipping on a banana is that it's something that can be helped with afterwards. It's slapstick, of a kind. And sure you're gonna laugh at your friend, but you will probably also be more than willing to get them some disinfectant and some bandages for any injuries they may have incurred.

It's different with strangers over the internet. And I doubt that you had any intention of supporting the OP after laughing at their hopes being dashed.

This was simply Riot making a change, people getting their hopes up, and then Riot reverting that change. There was no 'fail' in that. It was just somebody getting disappointed. And that's not funny.

You must be fun at parties

Imagine a guy that just bought ice cream aight? He is sitting there eating it, enjoying his life and the boom, ice cream drops to the ground! While that's happening the camera zooms in super close up view on his face where you can see the feeling of betrayal building up and his smile fading away while the ice cream is falling to the cold dead ground.

After all it's over he looks at the ground totally devasted, full of anger and disbelief. 2 tears come from his eyes to form a droplet of hope near his chin, only to leave his face without a goodbye and follow the demise of the ice cream.

I don't find it funny if someone stabs a child and you see the last flicker of life drift away from him, that's fucked up yes.

However what I find funny is unnecessarily brutal descriptions of totally innocent things like the example above and my main comment.

"You shouldn't derive such pleasure from the suffering of others."

You are acting like the OP is going to jump off the next bridge or have a trauma for the rest of his life because of this.

It's like "OH man that's so cool just imagine all th... aight guess not :("

It's funny

HalcyonDweller1 votes

I only go to parties where I know most of the people, if you know someone personally it's not an issue if they laugh at something you do. You have that rapport with one another. This is with a stranger over the internet, it's different. And it requires more tact.

You exaggerated my argument, I never said nor suggested that OP would be jumping off of anything, and by making such exaggerations you're engaging in straw-manning.

nelogis1 votes

"That's disappointing. You shouldn't derive such pleasure from the suffering of others"

The OP isn't suffering and is propably having a good laugh reading this conversation by now.

My main comment was a hypothetical wish. No I don't want him to send a clip of it happening to me so I can laugh about it.

The idea of his face expressing "cmon man" or "really?" is what I find funny.

Like a guy dying in dark souls in a silly way going "Dafuq was that?! really?"

Why is it so hard to understand that concept?

HalcyonDweller1 votes

You didn't describe it as, "cmon man" or, "really" you described it as, "as you saw the patch notes to only get absolutely and utterly destroyed and leave only a shadow of what you felt a second ago on your face."

If you didn't want to be misidentified as a sadist then you shouldn't have said such a sadistic thing.

You can speculate as to how the OP felt but unless they comment to verify or deny it then your speculation is meaningless. You don't know them. That's sort of the point.

Feel free to laugh with friends about shit, or go find comedians or content creators who use self deprecating humor. Leave random strangers out of it.

nelogis1 votes

do you even read what I'm writing?

Re-read the comment starting with "You must be fun at parties"

HalcyonDweller1 votes

If you want people to respect your argument don't open a comment with insults like, "you must be fun at parties."

That said, I already read your comments, and I was simply explaining why I saw it the way I saw it when I read your original comment. You made some kind of deflection by saying it was about a "cmon man" or "really" when that is not what you said originally.

If you meant it that way then you should have said what you meant, rather than use language that evokes imagery of sadism and suffering.

nelogis1 votes

That sentence isn't an insult You interpret it as an insult I was just telling you that you must be fun at parties, a real party tiger you kno? ;)

HalcyonDweller1 votes

You and I both know what you meant. And it's plain to see for anybody else. You're not as clever as you think you are.

nelogis1 votes

English isn't my mother language how should I know it's an insult?

If it actually is one them I'm truly sorry, yes totally truuuly sorry!
