Random Internet failure, server crash or what?

I'm playing game after game of ranked with no issues, and this last game all of a sudden severe lag came up, where as Nasus I'd q something and 5 seconds later it'd go off on my screen. but it already gave me the gold as if it wasn't lagging. I don't know how long this will last so I'm not playing a game until I figure this out. 400 ranked games no problem, this game worst lag I've ever had, and what's weird is it started at the beginning of the game not at the end of the last game. Why does lag start like that and not randomly during a game? I'm really upset that I wasted everyone's time with an unavoidable lag spike. I restarted the client, rebooted the Internet, restarted the computer, sold my girlfriend off for a better Internet provider. Is this really just unavoidable? Is there nothing I can do? This wasn't even predictable! Thanks. Move this if it's in the wrong board I don't know if it's report a bug or gameplay.
