To The Jungle Mains

I have some serious gripes with a lot of junglers. It's rare that I find junglers that actually listen to my pings. I know you're busy. You don't tell me how to play my lane and I don't tell you how to play your role. But, I'm not a mechanically intensive player. My whole playstyle revolves around jungle help (most of the time). It's become so much so, that my communication with junglers are top notch. But you know... something really, really, really REALLY irks me... I get ignored 80% of my games by junglers. Whether they're not in the area, whether they just not say anything or even when they are close by they just don't give me the time of day.

What more can I do for you to actually help me out here? I help you out to the best of my ability, but I feel like I don't get the same love in return. I'm not like most people who start spam pinging after things go south. I start pinging BEFORE they go south. I ask for help and after I do, I freeze lanes under tower. I give you options to gank my lanes. I hard shove and tell you, you can do a lane gank. I hold onto my pink wards for when YOU decide on your own you want to gank. When you're on your way, I drop them down and clear wards to make your ganking process easier. I keep tabs of summoners and let you know when it's down and when it's up. I force double summs in my lane and ask for your help. I tell you to help me clear the wave after a successful gank. I don't run you away from my cs if I get a kill. Am I not doing enough?

When I play jungle, I rarely, and I mean rarely, get much communication from any laners. I only get spam pinged after they royally screwed up their lane. I'm not like that. I ask for help before I royally screwed up. After the fact of being ignored 10+ minutes and laning phase is already done, all I get is constant "you're so bad" from junglers. I've set up and held on for as long as I can for you to gank. But you never showed.

So, my question to the jungle mains is:

What more do you need me to do for you to consider ganking my lane? I'm patient. I wait. I try my best and more times than not, waiting ends up backfiring when I start getting dove under my tower by the enemy jungler. So what else is there for me to do for you to gank?

As a JG main I agree with one of the comments below. Don't rely or become dependent on us. It is not our job to win your lane. That is your job. a JG as a whole is more of an INFLUENCE on the game and on the map. If the enemy JG is ganking bot, then that means he is applying pressure or influence on that area of the map. Your JG then needs to react either with a counter gank to take pressure of that area of the map... or apply pressure to or gank another lane... or take an objective like dragon.

It sounds like your communication during the game is great because you use pings. You are not doing anything wrong there and if anything you are doing more then others would in your lane. And I cant speak with all JG mains, I know I am not god and I have more to learn... but don't assume your team will help you. That is one thing I learned from becoming a better League player. Don't rely on your team.

While I can agree on not becoming heavily reliant on teammates, not relying on teammates at all can cause you more games than you think. You can't win solely by yourself and I find that finding one other competent person in a sea of less than average intelligence is better than praying that they're there in the first place.

All that's said and done, if my jungler is competent and actually does things, I'm more relieved and relax. If he's going around the map doing big things, then I'll beef up and let him snowball and do what he's doing. However, if nothing is happening in our favor and something has to be done, that's where I step in and try to be that turning factor. I, however, can't do that alone. My play style has been working. It works in a way that I allow people to carry when they can, and I step up to the plate when I have to. I'm not super reliant on my team, however, being a team game, I'm not exempt from expecting them to perform. Reliance and expectations are 2 different things.

I'm not saying the jungler has to win the lane from me. I'm saying he should provide me with the necessary pressure to keep some kind of dominance. I, more likely than not, set up easy to acquire kills and missing out on those opportunity (to me) makes no logical sense. You need farm? Fine, go ahead and farm. However, I'm presenting you with an opportunity for kills and there's really no reason to miss it. You have to take advantage of said situations as games can quickly change if you don't do so. Most champs I play, even though most are carries, have CC. And given that, if you have any form of cc as a jungler that's just opening us up for more odds to get kills.

I'm not extremely needy and if I fall behind I won't ask for ganks. it's pointless and makes no sense. I can only hope I didn't feed faster than you trying to acquire a lead.

Very true and my comment was not to make it seem like it is not a team oriented game, because it of course is... LOL And I agree... in order to climb, at least in lower Elo, you really do need at least 2 people on the team to carry.

Also just to comment, my buddy and I who play together will be on chat during a game, he will be playing TOP and I am JG. He will sometimes tell me.. "Man, you are missing a gank here, he is low HP and no FLASH.." Similar to what you are saying... but in those cases im usually ganking or fighting another lane and sadly we can not be in 2 places at once... now "sometimes" I am farming JG camps... that is when my decision making could be better and map awareness should bring me away from the camp and farming to gank a lane.. but also some times impossible based on my current location on the map.

Not to rant, I feel like we are on the same page, but it is sometimes easier said then done. :)

I need you to win your lane without jungle help. it's not the jungler's job to win lane for you.

when I play top I tell the jung to leave my lane alone i'll be fine.

It's not really about winning or losing my lane. It's just about pressure. I can win my lane without jg pressure, just not every game. Even when I get ahead, it doesn't mean I can't use the help. I'm more or less concerned with the early game summoners/lane ganks or getting ganked in the process. I prefer to play safer rather than riskier.

I main mid, but play jungle almost as much as mid now so I can see from both views. From the sounds of it you have become slightly too dependent on the junglers help for a kill. The jungler can't always be camping your lane to help you, as you said, sometimes they are other places or doing things. That being said, a tank every once in a while should come, but not all the time in your lane. One thing that I can suggest is playing a more independent (whether that is offensively or defensively) champion for your lane. If the jungler isn't always there to help you than you're going to be helping your self a lot and an independent champion could drastically change the flow of your games.

I don't have any problem winning my lane. It's not so much about winning my lane as it is about trying to dominate it. I need help to get a hefty enough lead quickly enough to have more than enough map pressure on the map for my jungler and other laners to actually get less heat.

That makes sense, you made it seem like you were struggling to win your lane without junglers help. But back to my other point, the jungler is deityer busy in another lane or in the jungle (or from the sounds of it just doesn't have a brain to look at pings.) Try to find a good jungler around your rank and add them and play duo. That can always help too.

Yeah, sorry. I'm not asking for camps. I'm just bothered by the fact that I rarely, if ever, get ganks even when I'm setting up perfect opportunities to do so. Those opportunities aren't permanent either and when I ping, if I see you're free and just getting done clearing a camp I'd rather you ignore that next camp and come straight to me. Most times, junglers ignore the ping, the set up opportunities and summoner call outs and never show up. Then when they show up, 5+ minutes later I get, "You said they had no flash ????" Yeah... 5minutes ago.

It's easy to tell games apart from where I have jungle intervention compared to where I'm just shuffling around top lane. I find good communication to be key and considering there's a huge lack thereof in soloQ, I try to break that threshhold by openly communicating. -shrugs- I guess communication just isn't enough to help tilt things in my favor either.

you need to understand, people play jungle for fun and because its less mechanically taxing on them, which is fine, but they have no clue in the world how to gank, if they did they would be diamond+ junglers.

let me make this perfectly clear.

at any time pre 6, before a first back or before someone buys a first defensive item.

YOUR 2V1 GANK IS A GUARANTEED KILL or flash. i dont care if you're playing yi, i dont care that hes darius, or leblanc you showing up with a health bar > 1/4th secures a kill for you or your laner.

its a huge problem when your hecarim for instance doesn't go after free targets. thats whats keeping them in silver/gold whatever. they dont understand, they dont see it, they dont go after pushed in lanes.

I main top and I have never asked for a gank even when losing the lane. If I'm losing it, either Nasus I'll outscale him anyway so I don't care or I'm getting dumpstered and he will 1v2 us. I don't ask for ganks because he probably doesn't care about me (top often feel like a 1v1, with 8 more players on the map fooling around until you both decide to tp bot at like 15 mins) or the gank is just gonna fail. I often ping my junglers to back off if they wanna gank early.

I'll tell you why I, at least, might not gank for you. It's because there was no opportunity to gank top when I was clearing my topside camps. I'm not going to hover around your lane and hope I can gank it. If there was no opportunity there, after I clear my camps, I'm moving on with my clear.

Having vision and not shoving your lane to their tower makes it more likely that I can pull something off, but if it's not there it's not there, and not every jungler can force a gank to happen under inopportune circumstances.

Brain Errör 4041 votes

I get that. I'm not asking for you to hover around my lane. What I'm saying is that I'm presenting those opportunities for you. What's irking me is junglers not taking those opportunities or abusing them at all. There's also a lot of dive opportunities to be had as well. People seem to be misreading what I'm asking for. I'm not asking for camps or for you to babysit me. What I'm asking for is for junglers to take advantage of the opportunities that I'm giving them.

I'm asking why it's so hard to take those advantages into consideration and even more so, why it's so hard to wait a few seconds when I'm setting stuff up when you've already cleared your entire jg and have nothing to do for the next 30 seconds or so anyways? All of the other lanes are shoved completely into the enemy tower and you'll be guessing where the jungler will be going to gank. Meanwhile, I'm sitting under my tower farming waiting for a gank. Would you rather take your chances and sit close to one of the other lanes praying for something to happen, or go for a more optimal situation?

Because there are better lanes to gank. Lanes that snowball harder, lanes where the enemy is lower health, lanes where our laner is higher health, lanes where I'm more likely to get kills or assists.

As a toplaner, this is likely where a lot of the problem comes from. Many tanks are near impossible to successfully gank, as they can disable one of you and just tank the other one. Unless a tank is low and pushed up, trying to force a gank on one will almost never work, and as a jungler who already has less gold/exp income than the lanes, I don't have the time to waste.

Don't rely on jungle, If your playing Ekko into Kassadin, I wont help you after 6, its a waste of time.

Thresh Outta Fux1 votes

If you can't win lane without the jungles help, you need to lose to reduce your MMR to be placed against other players who can't win their lanes without the jungles help.

In short, the solution is simple.

That's technically true, but that's not helpful and not answering the question he asked...
