How on God's green earth do y'all handle ranked?

I'd first like to say, this is the worst ranked system I think I have ever seen. Before you rage at me let me tell you my story of ranked.

Just got out of a game where our support went Taric TP. Sure, it's not in the meta but I wasn't even mad. Do what's fun and makes you happy.

But this is when I get mad, every single game i play someone loses lane so hard and then becomes the most toxic human being in the world. Literally had Taric and lucian (That was our random bot laners) go 3-16 and I'm assuming they were a duo because they both at the same time attacked me, the jungler. Saying I wasn't ganking etc.

In their defense, no I was not ganking. Why you ask? Because they continuously tower dived. I'm not leave gromp to go tower dive a Vayne and Volibear. Theirs a reason they went 3-16 together. Every single ranked game I destroy my lane or get some great ganks, solo dragon, etc, and someone loses their lane SO HARD (3-16 for example) and become so toxic it's disgusting.

So my question for you veteran players, how on earth do you handle this crap? How do you handle being stuck around people who play like they're level 5 with no experience? As of right now, I'm refusing to play League because of how infuriating the ranked system is set up. Why can't ranked be based off of your letter grade at the end of the game or something? Surely to God theirs a better way to rank people than by judging them on a 5 man team performance. At this point, I can't help these 14 year old kids who refuse to learn the game. To top it off, Taric from that game danced as i 1v1'd Voli and almost killed him, then he just ran away and asked why I'm so bad. I hate people like this, the worst kind of trolls. HOW DO YOU ALL HANDLE THIS????

I love the game, so Riot, please don't get mad at me for this post. I'm just at a loss. How 4 other random player's should determine my rank level just doesn't make sense to me. I main jungle and support when i solo que and this ALWAYS HAPPENS.

A.) if im jungler, bot lane goes 0-1265312 B.) if I'm support, my adc can't land a skill shot on a stunned player to save his life or after i ping him to fall back 5,000 times and he doesn't, he dies to a gank and then says "lol wtf lag".

Dont listen to ppl that tell you that you only need to play decently to get out of bronze. its bullshit. you need to hardcarry on a champ that is good at hardcarryiing (that would mean playing one of the overpowered champions that you hate so much like jax or illaoi or fiora or riven or fizz).

This is my experience with ranked. 60% of the time my teams are composed of 1-2 feeders, 1-2 really toxic ppl, me, and one sleeper cell. The sleeper cell is a person who may or may not carry the game, but if I start to carry this will be the first teammate to get a good thing going and help me carry the game by listening to pings, cooperating, cleaning up a fight, saving me, backing me up, ect. Sometimes this is even enough to win the game. Usually its not.

Since I can always recognize this person and since I can usually get this person to duo with me after the game, I have a better chance of rising this season because of dynamic q. I do this every ranked game I am thinking I will loose: I find the one person not doing dumb shit and do whatever I can to make them believe I am a team player. I make sure to save their life or to do SOMETHING where they can see I am not a tard or a feeder. Then I complain a little to them in allchat about that fucking teemo "haha" and I wait until that moment when it really feels like that sleeper cell and I are really the only reason the game is even dragging out past 25 minutes and thats when I ask if they want to duo.

Inevitably, they say yes and then in my next game I have 2 sleepercells rather than just one, only 1 feeder, and one toxic person who isnt as toxic because there are fewer feeders, and me. Boom. Win train is leaving the station. After you win, invite the other sleeper cell, especially if you are going into promos. You only want to give match making two or fewer open spots to fill with monkeys or squirrels when you go into promos.

Aim for loosing your first ranked game and winning the next 2 if you can get a good thing going with your band of sleepers. Plz note, if you are getting carried with the appearance of a hard carry, dont bother with the person carrying you. Just cultivate your relationship with the other person who doesnt really understand how to carry 3-4 idiots.

Keep your lanes pushed after 20 min.

How to handle ranked? Realize it's a game, and if you aren't having fun then stop playing.

you are the jungle everything is your fault.

I recommend picking the lane that has the biggest carry potential and just camp the hell out of it until the enemy laner gets toxic.

You can either not have thin skin and not hang all your expectations on the outcome of every ranked game, especially when you are supposed to have only 50/50 chances anyway OR You don't play ranked.

Both are fine choices.

"Why can't ranked be based off of your letter grade at the end of the game or something? " Because you and and a lot of people don't understand that's utterly meaningless. It's just a little gold star, a meaningless little number that's apart of League's Xbox Achievement System misleadingly named "Mastery". * It says nothing significant about what you did or what your role in the game was and certainly nothing about your play on the champion; you can pretty easily get an "S" on a champion you don't play and chose "just because" when they are on free week.

Every single thing you could possibly be judged upon is A: Also meaningless in a vacuum, just remnants, footprints of what happened in a game, worthless without their context and B: Just derivative from the end goal, the point of the game: Destroying the enemy Nexus.

Leaving it so the only thing that is being judged on is Destroying the enemy Nexus; whether or not you won. It's a team game, so you win as a team or lose as team. And it's perfectly fine for a player personal performance to come from this, because win/loss for a player is going to be effected by whether or not they do anything worth a damn to effect the outcome.

Footnote: I was being too harsh for a rhetorical point; little gold stars mean a lot more. Sorry, little gold stars.

Hi strange,

This is probably not the answer you want buy I'll try to provide feedback as best I can.

Your rank isn't a picture of performance in individual games, but long term trends.

If you always play consistently, never feed, and play your role well, and have mechanical skill equal to or better than your peers you will rise.

Here's why:

You will always fill one slot on your team. That means your team has one less slot for trolls, feeders, and the oblivious. The enemy team has five chances for this and you will have only four.

This won't help you in individual games where someone is feeding, but over 300 games?

See, everyone is dealing with this. So in an odd way, you're still being judged as an individual because you'll be the only common factor over hundreds of games. But it only works if you play a LOT. Because you're right. If you only play a few games and someone feeds in them? The game won't know if that's you or your team.

Lanes losing:

If each lane is 50/50 you've got about a 12% chance that one of your lanes WON'T lose. Don't count on it.

Teamwork:

Figure out how to play around other's mistakes. Play the map. Focus down objectives. It's up to you to wrangle your team into action. Solo queue rank is partially a rating of your ability to lead oblivious people. Don't just play passively and let things happen. If you know what needs to be done, make it happen. Both support and jungle should offer you pleanty of champions with engage and disengage to get you and your team into the right fights.

Focus:

I know this is cliche but it's import. Treat each game like a puzzel to be solved. A feeding bot lane or an oblivious tank are just this games obsticles. It never matters whose fault it is. It matters how you work around it. So focus on yourself and your own gameplay. Blaming others makes it hard to see your own mistakes.

Hope this helps!

Best of luck!

Also, if anyone goes and looks at my match history it doesn't look good. I'm well aware, bad games on Xin jungle are the snow balled bot lane that one shot me, and bad games on Brand are my God awful ADC. Theirs literally no role i can pick where I'm not screwed by someone elses poor play.

Thanks for all the solid responses, just had a Yas mid last game build 3 sets of boots and walk past the enemy Zed on purpose under a tower to feed. To top it off, it dropped me a silver rank.

Gonna take a break from League for awhile.

Hmmm... due to me being a bit uncreative (and somewhat lazy (sorries ^^')), I'll just Quote myself from a similar case a few days ago (was on EU tho, but that doesn't Change the meaning of words, does it now?)

{quoted}

*hugs* (>^.^)> Dunz be so down, things like that happen to everyone at times, and noone likes it. :< The only good thing about them is that they should be temporarely, but in really bad cases they can stretch way too far. v.v

I can't do much more other than tell you how I deal with it when it happens, but you can try to give it a shot:

I simply start looking only at me. I might not be able to win this game cus of whatever, but noone can keep me from getting a better player, and that's what I want, improve myself. I don't care about where my skill is compared to where I am, I just want to raise my skill.

So whenever I play, I go with the mindset "What can I do (better)?" Be this better CSing, putting up a few more wards, salvaging situations my team got in, dodging some more skillshot, anything really.

So after ever game, no matter if win or loss, no matter if trolls or AFKs or not, I will sit back and give it a thought what mistakes I did that game, what things I could have done better. (a recordnign programm can help with this, but I don't use one)

And when I go into the next game, I make sure to pay extra attention to what I did wrong last one. I died to ganks -> I ward more, watch the map better, Play a bit safer I lost lane because I simply fell behind in CS -> I start focusing on CS like mad, roam a bit less, trade a bit less, but I won't do the same mistake I noticed again, not just 1 game after. :<

They can keep me from winning, they can keep me from climbing, but they can't keep me from improving!

Imma git gud, and I don't care about the others.

Best thing to do is focus on what you could have done to help your team and in games like the 3-16 bot game realize you had a low chance of winning and shake it off. Took me forever to realize this. I got to a point where I was not ranking up anymore because I did not do all I could to win a game. That and I would get mad and keep playing and lose more games because of tilt. If your mad, you have to take a break or you will keep losing.

I have a second account currently in bronze 1 that I play with a friend on. Since rank was just reset everyone rank is a little messed up. I have noticed I have been getting mad because even though my elo is only slightly lower, I feel I should be able to carry those games pretty hard. Granted I usually do fairly well but then like you said I have lanes lose super hard. I noticed I was getting mad and its affecting my play. I know to rank up you cant do that so when I play on this account I always play when I am calm and only play a couple of games. I was on a 13 out of 14 streak but just lost 2 games in my promos :((. Was really hoping to jump from silver 4 to silver 2 since I had only lost a couple games after placements but don't think that is going to happen anymore. O well.

Climbing is all about perseverance. The lower your rank, the shittier your teammates and the more carrying you have to do. At the end of the day, only play when your in a good mood, focus on mistakes you made, and continue to play and rise.

Or get pissed, blame your team, rage, troll, afk, and never rank up. Those are basically your choices.

WarlockLaw2/1/2016, 5:15:48 PM1 votes

In ranked, just remain calm, as far as chat is concerned, be patient and try to offer advice in the least condescending way possible. Say as little in chat as possible and never initiate conversations with clearly tilting players. Report all applicable behaviors and hope it doesn't happen next game. Also if a lane starts feeding camp somewhere else to compensate. 3/16 is more than made up by 16/3 zed

stealthfox942/2/2016, 3:38:42 AM1 votes

My honest answer. I don't I take a break from this game when people like this show up.
