@RiotRepertoir Xerath Ultimate Idea

Just an Idea I had for Xerath as I find his ultimate kinda underwhelming. The thing about his old ult was that it felt powerful. In the current Xerath, His w and q feel powerful, but his ult is incredibly underwhelming as they are really just tear drops that damage. So, Xeraths ult, in a way, has a charge mechanic. But, it would be cool if we could set the power for his ultimate somehow. For example, if we press R 3 times, it consumes all 3 ultimate charges and turns it into 1 large shot that deals a large amount of damage and large splash or you can do say 1 medium shot by pressing r twice then clicking and then 1 small shot. This would just, in my opinion, be a pretty cool and unique mechanic that you might be able to implement to other champions in the future. However, I do also understand that this may make his ult awkward to use for some Xerath vets. You would also need to implement a consequence for more damage as well. For example, larger shot has smaller range so you can't just nuke bot from mid lane.

Edit: Another way you could implement it, according to Cheesyoger, is to have the different shots in the q,w,e slots for quicker (release?)

The underwhelming-ness of Xerath's ult could be mostly or completely fixed with some more intense VFX and SFX. When it was first introduced on PBE with placeholder animations and no SFX, I was convinced it was gonna be terrible, but with it's current effects I think it's ok. Could be improved, maybe, but the big range and good damage are fine balance-wise.

magnifying the ult seems a great idea. sort of reminds the sun disk he got his power from

I would certainly like it to feel a bit more powerful, even if it isn't buffed. Like you said, Q and W feel like powerful spells watching the arcane energy collect and explode in an impressive display. The current ult feels a bit more like a cheeky mage lobbing paper wads across the classroom seeing if he can make it land in someones open lunchbox. Just something with a bit more oomph, you know?

That is what I miss about the old ult. His old ult was rapid fire lasers of destruction. The new one is just feels like glorified rain :P

Make it deal damage only once, but EVERYWHERE IN RANGE. He is a strongest(lore-vise) mage in a game, so his ult should be EPIC.

But then he would essentially be a discount karthus

Well, the idea is this ult should do something great. A giant ball of energy falling and damaging in AOE(like Ziggs ult), powerful beam firing across the map(like Lux ult), something that FEELS like it is something great, not just "Use your weakened W 3 times".

The aoe range feels really limiting to me as well. Like, the extra range is kind of nice? Not really? The old ult already felt pretty long range, especially with W active. Now that it's longer and has a smaller splash radius, I can barely hit half my shots, probably a little less than that. Personally I'd much prefer it had a shorter range, a slower cast, and a wider effect. What do you think?

I kinda agree but it would be pretty cool to be able to adjust the power of the ult manually would be a pretty interesting mechanic and would also make the ultimate incredibly versatile. If it was implemented successful, it also has potential to add a lot of depth to future or maybe even current champions, e.g. Velez's w.

I agree, but with how quickly you need to commit to a spell cast on him for proper leading and such, I'm not sure how you could get a chance to specify what you want.

Maybe when you ult your QWE slots could be replaced with single, double, and triple power ult options with R remaining as is for anyone who's used to it/needs to get off three shots as fast as possible

You know, that is a far better idea XD

I feel as if out of all of the reworks I've seen, Xerath's has been the biggest missed opportunity ever. I 100% agree his ult leaves so much to be desired in terms of how it looks, feels and how it functions.
