Pleasantly surprised by the Morde changes.
I'll admit it. I was wrong.
I'm a sporadic Morde player, and when the changes were announced I just couldn't understand it. Why? What? How? I was pretty annoyed, and CertainlyT's history and unresponsiveness didn't help. But having played #1 in bot lane with Leona partnering, I can honestly say I had fun. I played like a complete idiot, walking into Blitz grabs and going completely out of position making me a simple target for Fizz. I had no idea what to build, so I took what I knew from old Morde and applied it: Rylai's and Hextech/WoTA. I didn't know what I was doing, I still don't know what I'm doing, but somehow I ended up 18/11/13, easily winning the game.
It was loads of fun playing Morde botlane, I never imagined my fantasy of "walk towards and smash" playstyle would work. It was refreshing, and I loved it.
The only thing I simply can't understand is the decision to shoehorn him into a duo lane. Why? Why not allow him to self-cast W? Even if there's no heal/half damage when self-cast, that simple change would make him a pretty viable toplaner. I hope Rito takes this into consideration, as Morde is now replacing a critical role of high, sustained physical damage, instead opting for tankiness and good, bursty magical damage. But who will shred the tanks? Think about it Rito, consider bringing solo huehue back.
That said, I eagerly await the Yorick rework. I love me some Shadow Isles heroes.
