Ranked Games are Broken

Ranking in this broken system is freaking impossible. Every flipping game you have these people that just FREAKING SUCK SO MUCH, they feed and feed and feed all game, not to freaking mention the afkers and people who rage quit after only dying once. When the freaking heck can we expect a Q system that places the feeders with the feeders and perma banning those people who just afk because their pissed off or because their acting like a baby.

NEVER do I surrender or AFK and the freaking tribunal doesn't work, and the if you report someone for either feeding or purposely being toxic to the other players, they should notify you that they've been dealt with because when you encounter these horrible pieces of human trash the only thing your left with is immeasurable amounts of anger and a loss.

Im so freaking angry right now, just lost my promo's because I'm bunched with idiots. CONSTANTLY.

It's not. Also, there's a higher chance of the enemy team having a feeder/afk than yours if you do well every game.

We already have one, and it's called being bronze (like you are).

NEVER do I surrender

I hate people like you.

  1. No one is gonna be banned for doing bad in a game.
  2. You take this game way to seriously, calling people trash just for doing bad in a game.
  3. I suggest you get a life if you really value winning games in league that much.

Im so freaking angry right now, just lost my promo's because I'm bunched with idiots. CONSTANTLY.

You're probably toxic in game and that doesn't help either.

The great thing about team games: You play with other people.

The problem with team games: You play with other people.

And when match performances varies a lot even for the same players, there's not much that a matchmaker can do (a player playing 2 very good games followed by 1 very bad game will have a good performance average, but having 4 of those in your team means most likely one will ph33d, ph33d, ph33d).

EDIT: Rephrased a bit more accurately

meh...you and a lot of us on that boat buddy, I haven't even finished my provs...six straight games with afks , dcs, and either the worst players on the league or downright trolls....its getting hard to tell the difference lately

also the current meta is total bulshit, it encourages the use of cheeseplay champs to end the game before level 15 and that's what happens ninety percent of the time anyways, only they drag to the forty min mark because these very same sucky players decide they can still win this with a 20 kill advantage on enemy team and we cant leave base undefgended because we got no inhib turrets already ...

welcome to elohell, youll be here a while... my advice? don't give a shit and roll whatever you wanna roll? azir top? go for it mundo jungle? sure why not double bot adc ? sure f it

as it stands, I lose or win at the exact same ration the only difference is , I actually have fun in between since I don't have to play what the current meta demands I play

there are plenty of champs right now dominating that have downright toxic , uncounterable and not fun kits (btw , plenty of champs have been gutted because they are not fun to play against , makes me wonder why teemo, yasuo, zed , reksai...you get the pattern here...someone at riot likes this kind of bulshit it seems cuz they keep designing champs with downright broken kits that will never be able to be balanced, just look at poppy , theyd rather kneecap her if they cant change her kit because of how downright toxic it is on the hands of a pro player / team

I don't think ranked is "broken" but I do raise an eyebrow when I seen plats in my Silver III game. Here are some factors other than ranked "MMR" to consider.

When average players play for long stretches they may play worse without realization, even pro players suffer this, gets even worse with loss streaks. Some players go into ranked trying a new champion. Sometimes something may happen to alter a players mindset mid game which may cause him/her to lose track of what he or she is doing, which of course leads into positional errors. Some players get lucky with who they were matched with, get carried and simply don't have the game knowledge to handle their current rank. Perhaps the matched players aren't terrible, but the other team is just better at their roles. Players tend to go through champion select without being vocal about the role they are comfortable on, this is a red flag usually, unless said player is comfortable on everything. Just be creative about the in and out of game variables that might contribute into "ruining" your experience.. Lag, high ping, disconnects, etc.. Social issues that might've popped up mid game.. Idk man, a lot can contribute to people playing like ass, I'm a prime example, look at my match history.

Blame boosted accounts.

Matchmaking system may not be perfect, but people getting themselves in places they should be nowhere near, can't be helping at all.

Of course, there's a whole nother onslaught of problems that could use addressing. Constant afks, but they're starting to be met more harshly.

Riot really could use some fixing of their server too.

Then..then there's the trolls. Sometimes I may not be playing to win, but I'm in normals if that's my mindset.

Also the fact that promos are retarded and should be taken out. 'Makes no sense that THESE THREE GAMES are so much more important to you, and yet you still get the same chance of getting a bad player on your team.

I'll just add something to this as well.

I find a lot of the bronze and silver players, and gold also suffer from some type of self entitlement. I have some friends that play and take the game very seriously, however have been stuck in bronze and silver for 2 seasons now. When you play League, you need to reflect on every game and learn something. You can't constantly pass the blame to someone else and say you lost because of them. My friends are CONSTANTLY doing this, and when I try to point out mistakes in their game when I spectate they get extremely offensive, and it actually makes a rift between our friendship....which to me is crazy. They want me to carry some of them to Plat, but I keep tellin them that

A) They won't learn anything that way. B) They are going to seriously get rekt and get even more angry. C) They are goin to tank other peoples games, and again.... pass the blame and eventually get demoted.

You need to be constantly learning in League. Just because you play 5 hours a day, doesn't mean you are good. I recently got my girlfriend into League, and after 2 weeks I was wondering if she was going to stick with it, as she was getting frustrated. However, she is a very smart girl, and at only Level 23, she is playing a support role better than half of the people I have seen in Gold and Platinum. Reflect on your matches. If you screw up, accept that.

The other thing I see a lot of players do is follow the flowchart. ALWAYS look at your what your opponent is buying, and do your best to counter build, ESPECIALLY if you have the gold lead. You will constantly make them obsolete while they continue to play catch up.

You can't control the AFKer's, ragers, or toxic people, but you can control how well you can do in the game to some degree. Carrying games are possible. Although it wasn't ranked, I played Urgot last week because he was free. First time ADC Urgot, and we won even though our Lee Sin dis-connected at the 7 min mark. How did we win? Teamwork and a positive attitude.

People like that screwed my plat promos... After i lost my plat promos i dropped to gold 4, now I'm gold 2 and i dont play ranked anymore.

Are there AFKers/trolls/feeders (aka people having a bad game) etc.? Yes and it's true to an extent at every ELO. However, that means nothing as far as getting out of a certain ELO because these things are true for EVERYONE. You are the only constant. There is no validity to ELO hell concepts outside of a very small sample size. This is both a statistical fact and my experience.

I'll tell you my experience. I started ranked as a Bronze player and couldn't believe it since I watched tourneys etc. I actually thought I was pretty decent, a common symptom of the Dunning–Kruger effect. People of low skill massively overestimate their level. Moreover, people are quicker to see mistakes others make rather than their own.

Convinced that I didn't belong there, I made some smurfs and leveled up really fast with boosts. Big shock, these accounts were high Bronze as well. With time I got better and reached high Gold on yet another account. I go back to my Bronze accounts and within just about a week or two, I brought both of them to the same high Gold level without much difficulty.

I was pretty shocked at how consistently I was ranked and this is a testament to the accuracy of the ranking system. Try the same experiment yourself if you feel you've plateud due to "ELO Hell." Unless making the smurfs massively improved your skills, you'll probably have the same results I did. If you've gotten in several hundred games and weren't trolling/afking etc., you're likely where you belong. Even if you think some Gold players etc. are bad and you're better, it's not true over a larger number of games. They may have a game where they perform terribly but that doesn't mean you're better overall. Players have many styles too. Some are extremely inconsistent, hard carrying or feeding. Others are just in the middle etc.

astralwit1/3/2015, 1:22:20 AM1 votes

I didn't say it's the same amount of "trolls" but none of that matters because any player ranked significantly higher can still carry himself out. ELO hell is a concept that has been refuted many times and is statistically not real. Your friend didn't magically get out of ELO hell, he got better. A year ago I was Bronze as well.

I'm just stating obvious truths, this isn't even debatable really. ELO hell is not real if you have several hundred games. You can have bad luck in a small sample but it's basically a null factor over a few hundred. The amount of "trolls" at that point is similar for you and others so there is no difference. If there were an ELO hell, ELO-boosting wouldn't exist and yet some people did that professionally. It's logical that both cannot be true. You want sympathy and people to say it's not your fault but that's just not reality.

You see the "troll" and think, this is why I can't get out etc. Instead, you should consider games that are close and what you could have done better to make sure you win them. You can't win every game and some are just basically impossible to carry. Those do not matter and shouldn't be your focus.

astralwit1/3/2015, 1:39:54 AM1 votes

No, I'm saying that because everyone gets players like that sometimes, it's not what's holding you back. And yes, I agree those are problems as far as enjoyment goes. It's just not ELO hell or whatever arbitrary term we use.

astralwit1/3/2015, 2:32:37 AM1 votes

Ugh, I don't understand why it's so hard for you to grasp the point.

Think of it this way, you lose every game where you have a "troll." For simplicity, player X, a Diamond player smurfing in your ELO does too. However, he also wins 95% of the other games while you do only 65%. I repeat, it does not matter from a statistical perspective that you have "trolls" in a larger sample. It's like in an equation, if you write 5x +100 = 9 + 100, there is no difference if you have it as 5x = 9. The trolls are the 100. It is a factor that affects everyone and yet other better players can still carry themselves out easily (not necessarily in the so called "troll" games but overall). It does not matter at all for ranking purposes even if it hurts the experience.

I totally agree with OP, I had 5 matches in a row last night where 1 dude just suddenly leaves game (ranked) and causes the game to be lost. Lost my promo's, well no biggie I have to win 2 more games to get back to promo's, o wait I need to win 2 more games to get my promo... So basically i need to have 4-5 clean matches winstreak, bbut with current state of the game its impossible. You face teams with massive aoe CC control like Chogath, Sejuani, Leona sup, Jinx and Syndra mid. With a random team its basically 0% chances of winning. Also if you dont ban right champs its quaranteed to have atleast zed, kata, akali, lebroke or any of those faceroll assasins in enemyteam . I main Udyr Udyr (Trick2g fanboi lawl) and I often also face the problem where Im just unable to do anything because the team we are facing is just impossible to deal with.
