My "smurf's" mmr was in plat for some reason(level 17), and playing at that level as a S4 player taught me a lot, even though it was only a few games. I kinda fed, but when I went back to my main account and played ranked, something clicked in my head and I'm suddenly climbing super easily. ^-^

One weird thing I noticed is that I was getting 20 LP from wins, but now I'm getting 19 or 18 after so many wins. I thought winning like this pushed up your mmr higher than your rank. Any clue what is happening? Sitting at 97LP in S3 because of that.

Maybe eventually, the game thinks you are plateuing to your true rank, so the LP gains are lower.

You won-streaked a lot and started climbing, but as you climb in rank you start catching up to your current MMR. Eventually if you keep winning your MMR will climb up again. I hear this is pretty common for people in plat pushing to diamond.

Shouldn't that mean my mmr gains are going up and not down though?

I didn't say they were going down.

Your MMR is say S2. Your original rank was S4, so your wins were giving you +20. Now your MMR is high S2, your current rank is S2. Since your rank caught up to your MMR, your gains have slowed down for a bit until you prove you can keep winning at this new level.

Idk how it all works, that is my assumption.
