Just Got Out of Bronze After 500+ Games, Here's What I Learned

I was hard stuck bronze for over 500 games and I just got out. Here's what I learned:

  1. Either learn a few champions to pick based on your team or one-trick. Don't learn too many and don't learn more than 2 or 3 if you aren't going to pick based on the team comps.

  2. Dodge if someone does some stupid pick or the pre-game lobby is getting salty. It's only 3lp. The only exception is if you need that 3lp to line up your lp to rank up.

  3. Target ping the enemy's carries. This helps your team focus someone. Most bronze players listen to this ping if it's on their screen.

  4. Take objectives. Obviously you have to do this to win, but try to squeeze in objective damage whenever it is safe to do so. Say your top, and you just killed the enemy top laner. The enemy jungler is bot along with their bot laners while their mid laner is still mid. It doesn't matter if you're low, try to squeeze in some tower damage unless they have a global ult.

  5. Winion control. You almost always shove the lane up to the enemy tower after a kill if you plan to back, because that usually resets the winion positions.

  6. Ward. Never forget to ward. Although, keep in mind, wards are almost useless if you don't look at your map, so that's important too.

  7. Pick good fights. Try not to fight 2v3s or things like that. Also, check to see how much damage potential is on each side of that fight. Don't put a support and 2 tanks against the enemy mid laner and support. Always check the map to see if it's safe before trying to kill someone you caught out of position, because you may get ambushed.

  8. Pick good champions. Try to avoid champions that are bad if you're behind or in general just don't do much for the team. I recommend playing easy champions, but this doesn't have to be the case, it just might take more practice with that champ to get out of bronze.

  9. Handle chat properly. Don't tilt your team or get tilted. If you get tilted by your teammates, just mute them. Do not say "muted" in chat, this is a horrible mistake. If you're leaving the chat on, make sure you abuse it to coordinate with your team. Another trick is to tilt your enemies(this is kind of rude, but it works). When you kill someone, put a "?" or "lol" in the chat(nothing too offensive, because you don't want to be too rude). It also helps to point out any enemies that are doing bad, not helping, or feeding. I personally feel bad about doing this, but it's surprisingly effective.

  10. FARM! Keep in mind, 15 cs usually equals a kill's worth of gold, so try not to miss your cs. Also try to catch any large waves of winions crashing into towers. A mistake I see a lot in the jungle is that they will try to finish a camp before helping someone who needs it. Most of the time, just quit what you're doing if you're confident that you'll be able to get something out of doing it. In bronze, there are a lot of kills being passed around, so it is a major source of income. Don't just sit there and farm. You need to farm winions and champions at the same time. Just try to be as efficient as possible.

About my journey:

I was placed in bronze 2 after going 2-8 in my placements. That was mostly me getting unlucky. I did well in most of those games. I almost immediately climbed to bronze 1 then a combination of getting unlucky and picking bad champs slowly dragged me into bronze 5. I eventually hit bronze 5 0lp. This is around when I picked up mid lane along with Lux and Vel'Koz. I pretty easily got back up to bronze 2 after that because when you're Vel'Koz against a bunch of bronze players, you can kite them 1v5 and still get kills. I had a 70% winrate on him for a while. Now it's about 60%. After I got back up to bronze 2, my rank wavered a lot, being anywhere from bronze 3 to bronze 1. I reach 90+ lp in bronze 1 FIVE times before I finally won that last game before promos on my 6th attempt. I blew through my promos by winning 3 and only losing 1. I've actually been promoted to bronze 1 EIGHT times. That got really frustrating. Part of the reason I was stuck in bronze for so long was because of the 20+ games that I've lost due to power outages, my ping spiking to 500 for the whole game, or my internet just going out for no reason. I also lost a bunch of games by league saying I didn't have internet when I did or it crashing while loading, which resulted in me getting leaver.

Thanks for sharing!

A lot of people believe that once you are in bronze you are stuck there forever unless you are lucky. However posts like this not only help show that good play will get you out of Bronze, but also provides solid advice for players looking to improve their play.

I would recommend you to take bruiser or ad carry to carry the game by yourself...

  1. get the champion that does snowball well such as Darius, Akali, Tryn, Yi, etc
  2. has good escape. << also understand how to avoid/survive the gank
  3. try to win the lane and get fed.

and...

  1. shove the lane
  2. steal their crab and enemy monsters at JG
  3. attempt to sole the rift herald
  4. do the objective if possible
  5. keep the pressure by shoving the lane or ganking other lane if you can.
  6. rotation the lane if you can create more pressure so free dragon and or baron.

This list will get you to get out of the low elo so fast... I meant this low elo is so bad... so you have to be very lucky... especially main tank player.

PS. 20+ games or 4% of your games is... What a rotten luck you have!
