What other roles can Aatrox fulfill SUCCESSFULLY other than TOP?

Maybe Jungle?
Jungle. Mid works in normals too vs some champs like Yasuo

so he can jungle just fine without having a hard time with the leash and farming?

I jungle with him often. Start golem camp with leash then go to red, should have zero problems clearing the jungle at least twice before backing.
edit: as opposed to starting E though, start W to pick up some of your AS buff.
Uhh...
He's good in Dominion?

Mid
Mid
hed be great. good burst, gap closer, if you build AD

Not sure if you've ever played Aatrox, but like Tryndamere he's based entirely around AAs. He isn't bursty at all and his Q/W don't have useful AP ratios and his R doesn't have one at all as it's just a buff so stating that you'd build AD is like stating Ahri builds AP, it's common knowledge.
To that effect though, he's very lackluster and wouldn't use him mid in a blind pick due to a few things:
Hence, you'd only use him mid vs a very select few opponents like Nidalee or Yasuo.

- easy to lock down, succeptible to CC, stuns, ults, etc especially when you're in Q animation or upon landing (this includes Veigar's expertly placed Es or a 3-second morgana snare) Aatrox can't harass like the other mid-laners can, as they run on mana which regens while you can easily be zoned out. Aatrox runs on health and health alone, that being said if you can't regenerate it there's only so much you can harass - and you won't be able to keep up your blood well and your health as you could in top lane vs most lane opponents. (let's consider most midlaners are ranged champs, their AAs will zone you out early without even casting anything)
Hence, you'd only use him mid vs a very select few opponents like Nidalee or Yasuo.
I have played Aatrox 3 times, but I play a lot of champions kinda similar to his style like Xin Zhao and Wukong mid and they work really well for me. (after all, xin zhao, wukong and aatrox are in the same class of champions (ad gap closing bruisers)). One of the main differences between Wukong and Aatrox is the ult, but Xin and Aatrox are very alike. I think aatrox mid is quite viable
My friend mains AP aatrox ^^ But I didn't mean build AD instead of AP when I said build AD. I meant build AD instead of tanky
Viable? yes, in some situations. As a general pick into a blind match? No. I'd never take him vs Ahri or Veigar, for example.

I take Xin and Wu vs them, so if I had Aatrox I prolly would too.
I might get Aatrox next, and I'm probably gonna play him mid
Ahri outsustains and outpokes you in every way, veigar outpokes and CCs you when you land your Q. xin zhao has a scary engage while aatrox doesn't. Wu has his clone to poke with, Aatrox doesn't and rather has a blood well that leaves him totally vulnerable at 0% well and low health after his passive goes down, likely with no CDs.
I play him Jungle just fine
Starting krugsor gromp with leash i can then clear both sides all camps by about 4 mins 20 seconds into the game plus when i start w i can clear everything and back with both health pots unused or i can gank a lane with passive pretty full and both pots still.
I just recently bought him and have played a few times jungle aatrox and he seems to do fine, his sustain is crazy and farms pretty damn quick.
I generally activate my w also till i get under 50% health then toggle it off to get the great life steal bonus which seems to help with clear times and you not having to use any pots.

Thank you this is the kind of information I was looking for
This guys got a pretty good grasp on it, one thing top mention tho is that Aatrox tends to be a little feast or famine. If he falls behind he can still clear jungle, but he's gonna be so squishy he kinda just dies in team fights. If he can get a damage item when he wants it he is super hard to deal with.
Support. Sit back and spam the slow... all game... just spam it...

I still prefer AD aatrox over AP though. He has much more he can do AD, especially since Q and W and E scale AD
Ap aatrox is fun for ARAM though
Jungle. I run Devourers>Botrk>Tank.
