How would this affect the ADC role?

As a person that thinks about everything into depth, I am always thinking about build paths that could work for my favourite champions. While I was thinking, I stumbled across an idea that i believe could ruin the way we see adc's today. Now with the newest patch (6.18), we have seen a lot of nerfs to all of our favourite champions. But the only adc's that were touched were ashe and MF.

Now where am i going with this you ask?

Well looking at how ADC's build and how they play, they are focused on doing consistent damage while staying in the back and not being touched. Now as a secondary adc main, if you get caught out or dove, you wont have much to do besides rely on your team to help or try to outplay them.

But what if you could survive them and not be totally tanky? I think adc's should start building Frozen Mallet. This will change how the game is played completely. Not only will they be able to survive longer, they will be able to self peel, and survive a lot more than if they dont. The unique passives is what makes it such a strong item for any adc because if they are fed, they will be targeted. So if you are immobile or mobile, you can still kite. This will give you the chance to get more autos in and as well as keeping a safe distance while being immobile.

This was just an idea. I believe that this will change how the game is played as well as not having to always rely on the adc. If they can self peel, then they are able to have more of a presence in the game because some champions are not good at peeling.

So lets start seeing FM on adc's (trade FM as 3rd item and build rest normal)

You'd lose so much damage by building that and would be completely unable to win trades with the enemy ADC.Especially after the nerfs, FM on an ADC is a bad idea. Not being able to output damage in teamfights means your front line will die quick and good luck kiting 4 people coming after your ass.

The DPS from an ADC is reliant of AD, AS, Crit chance all Multiplying together. Which is why ADC builds are extremely finicky. Trading any offensive item for a defensive could very well do more harm than good.
