why people think gold 5 is low elo
you are already top 30% in ladder.
if talking about us personal income, you are at $47,500 to $49,999 at top 30% boundary. is that really bad huh?

becayse until youre mid plat people are straight trash tier players that should still be in bronze and silver
I think it's because people only see black & white - low elo and high elo.
In my opinion you could say, Bronze & Silver is low tier - gold & platin is medium tier - diamond & master is high tier - challenger is professional
It's more of mid elo. It's where you're above casual players and understand the game, but you're not really good at it yet.
Think of it like getting a 70% on a test. You passed, but do you really feel proud of your 70% like it's a high score?
I guess it's a nice mile stone for beginner players. Other than that pretty horrible players with no skill at all.
I mean, If we're splitting it into "Top 50% = High Elo", then Silver 2 and above would be high elo as well.

Statistically, you are not, but if we're talking about "skillwise", there's not much difference until you get past diamond 5.
At least that's what I have gotten from my friends who are d4+, where a lot of them also had multiple accounts all at that elo range.
Meh, honestly if you can make it to gold solo queue you're considered a decent player imo.
I've made it to gold for 2 straight seasons as Nasus, probably can do better but I mute teammates and call them names sometimes.
Riot won't let me be a dishonorable summoner with out chat restrictions or bans. :D
