Because trading champions is a bit riskier in Solo Queue than in Teams.
I mean... there are some champions that do well enough if blind picked. Azir (if played right and Kassadin is banned), Annie, and Malzahar come to mind immediately. But yeah, first picking Kat is just begging the other team to pick someone with instant CC in mid.
I first pick Anivia all the time and i have a 100% win rate with her l0l
This bugs me too but I think people just don't know enough roles or safe picks to worry about counter picking at lower levels. I learned all the roles just so I can always counter pick someone, helped a lot when climbing the ranks.
The problem with your strategy is that you'll fp the support, then the last guy can (and will) just go "Top Kek, I mid trolololol".
and then he won't even counter pick.
Twisted Fate seems to be a good champ to inst-lock in.
