Champion Balancing in 2016
I'm not really one to make board posts and I don't frequent here often. I'm sure the topic has been beaten to death as well. But I figured I'd be that guy anyway.
Warning you right now, this is 99% rant.
Does Riot even have a champion balance team?
If so, where are they? What do they do besides change Jinx particles on Runaan's Hurricane into mini rockets?
Why are champions like Illaoi, Tryndamere, Fizz, Veigar, Zed, and Master Yi still so broken?
Illaoi W got changed and now it's even worse to play against. It's not fun at all, because if you ever don't dodge it, you have to run away from her (even under your own turret for the entire duration, while slowed, just to avoid dying from the tentacles that are constantly spawning and swinging at you while she's back at your turret happily farming away. How is she so dang tanky AND has such powerful healing on her damage abilities? Her healing is the strongest in the game by far and she's a huge damage and a massive damage dealer. How is that balanced? Just because she isn't mobile? Newsflash, she doesn't have to be when she can damage you from 300 light -years away.
Veigar? His R is still "get to close to Veigar and get deleted from the game"? Oh, and it's a homing projectile, so there's no way to avoid it if you get too close. Why do people have to build their entire item set around one champion if he's in a match on the enemy team? 4 AD/tank enemy champs, but they have a Veigar, so we all need to build Banshee's Veil so we don't get one shotted.
Then there's invincibility. If a champion ever turns invincible or untargetable, that should be the ability's entire effect. It shouldn't deal damage.
You guys talked about not putting a damage effect on Taliyah's ult, because it should be use as utility and you want people to not have to think as much about if they want to use it for the damage or save it for the utility to make plays. Why is invincibility not thought of in the same way?
Okay, wait for them to be targetable again, then use your abilities. Oops, you're already dead. Too late. Better luck next time.
One last pet peeve before I prepare myself for flames.
Why does Morgana binding last so long? I'm assuming this was intentional years ago when the game had a different balance, so that she could get the most out of her W and R, but it's not realistic in the current state of the game. It lasts longer than most additional effects it applies with items (slow from Rylai's, etc.) Why does it do so much damage for being such a powerful CC ability? Her E alone makes her entire kit useful no matter what you do to it. She has so much CC that her damage output makes it unbalanced.
I guess I'll stop there to avoid this turning into an even longer novel than it already is.
My apologies again for it being so ranty. It just feels like the balance team isn't focusing on things that actually need balancing.
