Misunderstandings and Realities of the Jungle
Hi, i just want to clarify things for laning folks, especially those pesky mid laners.
So, as a jungle main, i constantly see top and bottom laners taking my krugs, and mid laners taking Raptors and blues.
Just because you're a mid laner, you are not ENTITLED to blue buff. If you ASK for it, most junglers will give it to you. I usually will :) (same goes for ADC with red buff)
NOW here are some reasons why i would NOT give mid laner blue buff.
- The mid laner is playing very poorly, and would most likely transfer the buff to the enemy team.
- I am behind (for whatever reason) and i need the EXP and buff in order to continue clearing my jungle to catch up
- You ALREADY HAVE A BLUE BUFF
- Similar to reason 1, IF the blue buff would be more influential on the tide of the game in my hands, instead of yours :^) kappa
- You are Veigar, swain, Annie, and you have 2 dorans and Athenes. YOU DONT NEED BLUE
- You say you want it for cooldown reduction. Why would i give you a buff if you're only using it for it's secondary purpose? the blue buff's main function is to regenerate Mana, if i'm playing a mana hungry jungler, i'm taking blue. K? K.
Reasons i would give blue buffs to the mid laner
- enemy has my jungle warded and is stalking me and killing me repeatedly (taking blue for myself is not safe at this point, i would probably just leech off a lane until i was able to fend for myself, i would also probably ask laners to assist me in defending the jungle and warding, but at this point i would just end up transferring blue buff to the enemy jungler or whoever is following me)
- Say the mid laner is someone like Leblanc, most Leblancs rush DFG, they don't build alot of mana regen, and with her low CDs Leblanc with blue is VERY deadly. The same applies to Malzahar, Lissandra, Fizz as these champions rush Rod of Ages or Lich Bane, thus have low mana regen, and are also very deadly champions with blue buff.
- I'm doing fine managing my mana, and my experience and i don't need the buff.
Now, the new jungle is VERY different from the old jungle, it used to be very easy for junglers to sit in their jungle and farm and get a very large level lead over laners, and come out VERY strong. This is no longer the case Junglers only start with 2 hp pots, instead of 5 so they are not able to farm as long between backing, also, junglers are more often at low health, and recieve less exp than laners. So, if the jungler wants to keep up with the laners they are FORCED to gank, if the ganks are unsuccessful it is very easy for junglers to fall exponentially behind no matter how much they farm their jungle (there are a few exceptions to this rule, with junglers such as warwick, yi, and udyr who have incredible clearspeed and self healing), SO some times the jungler HAS to take buffs in order to keep up. That's just the way it is.
In patch 4.21 laners now recieve 10 gold less than previously from all jungle camps, the jungler recieves 20 gold more with an upgraded jungle item, so it's much more beneficial for the jungler to clear the camp anyway.
The principle of the thing. I don't walk into your lane, and kill your siege minion wave, so don't take my jungle creeps. It's that simple. (note that this applies to laning phase, late game, jungle is fair game [usually] )
Thanks for reading, and again, this is just MY philosophy from what i've experienced and seen so far. I hope this helps some of you understand the laws of the jungle. It's a dangerous place out there!
